Thank you for pointing out the obvious Mike but I was refering to a great number of people who don't use forums.

I must say how happy I am that the hard work and foundations laid in the early days of the committee are now coming to fruition and that you can now relax over the next few months. My whole hearted congratulations to all the people who actually contributed in swelling the Mega Wales coffers. The donations given by Welsh cachers and those from various parts of the country have been marvellous and I'm sure the committee will be thanking them publicly for work done on their behalf. It does sadden me, as pointed out by Jeff that a few cachers would stay away from events because of the fund raising activities of the committee but remain confident that once the committee explain that it is for their Mega and the benefit of the UK caching community that people would come on board and join in the many fun events to be held in Wales.
So good luck to all and enjoy the 31st July Mega Wales

If you want to get away from all the hype of the wedding on the 29th April why not aim to Saundersford/Tenby for the S Wales event, meet and greet Thursday in a pub in beautiful Amroth. Flash mob Friday in Tenby and you may want to go across to Caldey Island to get away from the wedding depending on the weather - boat off the beach or harbour. Camping event Sat between Saudersfoot and Tenby and the main event on Sunday being run by Mushroommike. The campsite is on the cliff top overlooking Wiseman's Bridge/Amroth and a reduction for booking 3 nights has been arranged.
All are welcome to the camping event with log book available from 6pm onwards. Planning a Welsh theme for this event and thinking about cooking up a big saucepan of cawl as a taster for all our friends across the bridge and maybe Welsh cakes if we can find the griddle and it works on the camp stove
It will be a long weekend covering 2 Bank Holidays - the Wedding and May Day so let's make the most of it. There are many fabulous caches(unusal and innovative caches set by Mushroommike) and interesting coastal and wooded walks.

Hi CC
Not a climber a such but when younger had some top class climbing friends.
About 20 mile north of the Mega event is a place called Dylias Rock I know there are a great deal of challenging clibms there an a few challenging overhangs to tackle. I will try and find my old collueges web page and he could give you more accurate discriptions
Regards
Tony (mollyjak)
This may be a good resource for you

Well guess we should agree to disagree on that one Simon, but I'm glad common sense prevailed and the original Golden Ammo Box creators had thier wishes followed

Very glad this issue has finally been decided and the committee has taken on board the constructive advice of both the creators of the ammo can and fellow cachers

In a pondering moment, what has surprised me is the number of virtuals at the top of the favourite lists.
From my home location if i search 10, 20, 40 miles the "biggest" favourite is always a virtual (and yes they are different ones) indeed the 40 mile search has 6 virtuals and an earth cache in the top 10 (there are 1892 in total so lots to choose from), the top 4 are 3 virts and the earth cache.
not sure what it shows, may be more people do virtuals, may be they have been round a while so they have more chance of being remembered, may be that actually it doesnt really matter one jot as long as people enjoy it
and may be i need to get to ripon at 9pm to enjoy the top rated one
As I have started to go through our cache finds to add the favourites, I have also found that most through the first trawl are virtuals and earthcaches We have enjoyed being shown and learning about something of interest including visiting a number of islands off the Welsh coast
I can also recommend the 9pm at Ripon as we were able to enjoy the experience during the first Mega at Harrogate!!!!

Merry Christmas to all and have a good year

I enjoyed taking a school trip there a few years ago - as a miner's daughter it was very interesting to see the conditions my father worked in for 40 years.

We'll be there

Dave and Pat were good friends within the caching community.
Our thoughts are with Pat and her family.
Rest in Peace as you will be missed.

Agree with the above
Some hints are of no help at all when they are tooooo clever and only make sense AFTER you've found it

Aww - go on - put us out of our misery - please???? Pretty please?????

LOL and we've been rumbled!!!
Great to meet up today and we enjoyed ourselves and look forward to the next one.

So sorry to hear about your continued ill-health - we have been concerned.
If you ever want a caching wander (my style of course ) no problem or just an icecream and hot chocolate at Mumbles
Hope you feel better soon

You will be greatly missed and have done an outstanding job in the circumstances. I am annoyed that I still can't pronounce your name correctly "chinchilla" but I blame that on my mental deficiancy . We will look forward to seeing you soon and finding a rather nice garden centre for coffee and cake in the glorious country side

Just another note regarding the visibility of the Golden Ammo Can if I had been granted an opinion I would say personally I think it should be displayed and more visible during the Mega and associated events and made available for discovery at those events.

I just want to be clear that there was no underlying agenda and no criticism was intended or implied towards the Mega Wales Committee it was an issue with the Ammo Can. I started this post as it was simply something I felt strongly needed expressing and being only my second post in this forum had some reservations.
I am glad that the committee will now take time to discuss this as it should be. I hope they pay respect to the people who have posted here and realise that it is those people who set and created the Golden Ammo Can and have the intelligence to know their own minds and what they wanted for it, which is why they set the mission as they had.
