  1. Hello every one, I'm a British Geocacher who is coming to the states for a few weeks in April/May I've going to be in Florida to visit some friends there, then travelling on my own via Seattle and New York. Rather than hanging out on my own I thought it would be good one evening to put on a local geocaching get together event, so anyone local cachers can come along, share a beer or two and some geochat? TB's and coins can be dropped off for the international travel, via my suitcase. I'm also in town to find the Project APE cache and the GPS Adventures Maze Exhibit, as well as doing some touristy stuff in your fine city. I'm from the West Midlands of England, not far from the birth place of both Ozzy Osbourne and William Shakespeare. So how about it?
  2. End of April 2009 I'm flying out from England to America, stopping off in Seattle for 3 days with the original intention of claiming the PROJECT A.P.E cache. Fool heartedly? this leg of of journey will be on my own, so is anyone interested in teaming up (esecially for the APE cache?) Would enjoy some company on this once in a life time cache and look forward to exchanging some geocaching banter. Look me up via the Geocaching website. I'm hoping that the cache is accessible by alternate route.
  3. Maybe someone clever enough can devise a Firefox add on to subtly alter the Find a Benchmark (http://www.geocaching.com/mark/ link to a British version?
  4. Just customised my mapsource icons - dead chuffed as could not figure it out. Thanks! - found this forum post via google. Not sure if they will work on my garmin vista or nuvi yet though.
  5. What if you had a public bookmark list? There is no search facility available so I would not know unless I found out about your list by accident.
  6. There is a Grease Monkey script? What is the link? Used to log my ratings on http://stats.geocacheuk.com/ which is no more by the looks of things
  7. I'm trying to add Prime suspects scripts after reinstalling Firefox. It kept mysteriously crashing. After installing grease monkey I followed the link to the page, but all the install links have Greasemonkey 0.6.4 (Firefox 1.5) Compatible! [an error occurred while processing this directive] Is this error happening just to me? Tried contact Mr Suspect via his website, but got an automated email error type message.
  8. I feel sorry for the Hamsters having to fit in these micros and nanos.
  9. I figured it out - GPS simulator is actually demo mode and to find a cache you need to hold press the signal bars on the screen to close in on the prize. Why not just make this button - getting the satellite page useful! Today I have learned 5 new things. I'll get the hang of this paperless lark yet.
  10. I've just upgraded from a Garmin Vista to the Nuvi to take advantage of paperless caching. I tried caching the other day but it kept going wrong near GZ What does the GPS simulator do? I note that the signal bars go from full to no signal when you activate it, but no other menus pop up when you activate the map. I don't know if I have a faulty unit or not. I thought the battery may have been low so it's been on charge for a day. It was also switching it's self off when I tried to use GPS simulator and selected map. For caching I have selected pedestrian mode and direct route.
  11. How come Wherigo works on Nuvi 550 but not other models, such as my new Nuvi 760? Is there a way around this?
  12. I need a mains charger as I mine keeps running out of juice when powered by cigarette lighter or plugged into the USB. I've had to switch to the vista to find the cache it's self. Anyone know if I have to get a specific charger?
  13. By cartridge, does mean a SD card that is used in cameras and sat navs for extra maps?
  14. I purchased a Nuvi 760 today - I'd never thought I'd go paperless! Shame that I can't add the Wherigo to my find list after such an investment - only three icons to go for the full set.
  15. My firefox has crashed loads of times over the last 5 days, ever since the last revision. I've even had to go back to IE. Is there anyway to save all your add on, as I think reinstalling Firefox is the wayforward.
  16. Just brought me a Garmin Nuvi 760 satnav from Halfords. Paperless caching here I come, plus its got MP3 player and handsfree phone. Hazar!
  17. The Garmin nuvi 360 has MP3 player and wireless technology with a microphone and speaker that lets you make hands-free mobile phone calls. Cool! I think I may be taking a look at this model during the post christmas sales. Unless I get a unexpected present from santa
  18. Does that apply to all models of the Nuvi? I'm also closely following this discussion, and this sounds like an interesting feature, especially as I'm not a paperless cacher.
  19. I'll be looking out for one of these in the sales - I'll need one to take to America in 2009. Want to avoid any deliverance type incidents.
  20. I've just been trying to find a GPS Adventures Exhibit (Last was GC1C2BA) - Don't think the Pacific Science Center in Seattle will appear as an event for a couple of months yet. The exhibit is on holiday at the moment. (Or someone has lost it)
  21. It will be rude not to! Thanks for the tip. I'll be on the look out for Garmin map source world map to help my Vista on travels - although I could do with an upgrade to a driving sat nav knowing my sense of direction, especially in a foreign country who's strange inhabitants drive on the wrong side of the road.
  22. GCTK7X:Meridian Snake: The Project A.P.E. project is exactly this: it's nearby, it's APE themed, it's the biggest ammo box wot I ever did see ... and is an ordinary icon. I'd quite like to get an APE icon, and eventually the full icon set. There are only 2 original APE caches left, so looks like I'm off to to the american colonies in 2009. I have 10 icons bagged - APE, Mega, GPS Adventures, and Wherigo to go.
  23. Best way is to upload it to your gallery. Click on the image - this will give you the web address of the photo. Copy it and use that address when you insert image on the forum.
  24. Thinking of going to that there America in 2009 - was wondering how many UK cachers have an APE find? must be a very select group. I was at an event today and the number 4 was mentioned.
