  1. "Great Stuff" expanding foam could also work.
  2. You are correct. I forgot about that. Also, we would have to mention the pocket PC devices.
  3. I use Street Atlas to create a route I want to take and then use GPSBabel to convert that to a Waypoint list. I then use G7toWin to make a track file from the waypoint list. I like Tracks better that Routes because routes follow a straight line from waypoint to waypoint while tracks can follow curves or winding paths better and give a more accurate distance. Plus, tracks don't clutter the waypoint list like routes do.
  4. It is definitely needed if you do Routes or Finds. Those 2 will not work correctly until you do the update. It's easy and quick.
  5. A PC with the connecting cable is the only way with an E-trex. I travel quite extensively in my job and have found, creating routes in the GPS clutters up the Waypoint list and it is not as accurate as a Track. I use Steet Atlas to create a route, then use GPSBabel to change it to a Waypoint list, then use G7toWin to make a Track file for upload to my GPS. This allows me to do a "Track Back" to beginning or end and it shows a more accurate time of arrival. The Legend can hold 9 saved tracks at 3000 track points per track. If I have a Waypoint I don't want to delete, like "Home", I use a method described earlier in this thread by "Neo_Geo" to make a .IMG file and make it a POI. The Legend is a nice compact and inexpensive GPS, but it has it's limits.
  6. I also create my own Mapsource maps to put in my Etrex Legend. It is vey labor intensive but the amout of information you can put in is worth it when you really need it there.
