  1. UPS Ground really means UPS Ground. I don't call this Quick Service... COMMERCE CITY, CO, US 03/16/2006 1:04 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN 03/16/2006 12:06 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US 03/15/2006 1:28 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN 03/15/2006 12:36 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN HERMISTON, OR, US 03/14/2006 8:35 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN 03/14/2006 2:30 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN REDMOND, WA, US 03/13/2006 9:19 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN 03/13/2006 6:02 P.M. ORIGIN SCAN I figure they will hit 3 or 4 more states before they get to Texas. So maybe I will get them by end of next week. Too bad. I wanted to wear mine for the CITO for the Texas Challenge on Sunday.
  2. My granddaughter (10) goes with me on most of my caching. She loves to find the coins and travel bugs. And of course, little girl type things. She isn't into micros, she likes lots of trading stuff.
  3. http://sewelldirect.com/USBtoSerial.asp?ki...tch_type=search Cables can be had a lot cheaper than 60 bucks. I recommend the Legend. I love mine.
  4. I run four blades for Team Discovery Project Hope, and one for myself for FAH. Then I have two other computers working FAH. If I get a spare machine up and running, I will load this on it.
  5. CindyFrag put out a nice multi in my area that has 5 micros, all redirectors, that lead to a nice fat ammo box. See GCKBKB Some of them are pretty small. But the whole run is great and we really liked it because it made us think. Micros can be a lot of fun, if they are done right. As was said above, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!
  6. I ran into this last week. Went by to check our cache, as we do weekly. I work two jobs so I rarely have time to geocache right now. The cache was half empty and all the good stuff that had been there was gone. Now I have to scramble this weekend to pick up some stuff to rebuild. We bend over backwards to make an even trade, wish everyone would.
  7. That would be enough for me. I like my Legend, don't think I will change brands.
  8. Sounds like a good plan to us....
  9. I just bought two off of eBay. They are in excellent shape but used, and I want to make sure I clean them out good. Any suggestions? How do you usually clean these?
  10. Haven't been geocaching long, but I am already looking at my next unit. I have been looking at the eTrex Vista C, the GPSMAP 76S, the GPSMAP 60CS. Prices aside, if you have one, what features do you like or dislike on one compared to the other? I have gotten used to the buttons and whistles on my Legend and like the convenience of using it one handed. Are the 76S and 60CS harder to use in this fashion, or is it just a matter of getting used to the difference?
  11. I am a moderator on a Catholic forum. Having spent 4 years doing that, it wasn't hard to realize that the views held by TPTB and the regulars weren't always a representation of the Catholic Church as a whole. It was a representation of the people that frequented that forum and grew from there. No matter what forum you are on, you have to take it all with a grain of salt. Some things will be representative of the whole, and some not. My advice is to go geocache and have a good time. I don't come here for politics or debate, but for information. To that end, this forum fits the bill.
  12. Just cause I went out at lunch with my GPS doesn't mean I am addicted, honest...
  13. I concur. I do most of my geocaching with my 10 year old granddaughter. After some really hard (for us) and neat caches we found this weekend, we are going to work on some really quality caches, even if it takes us a month or so.
  14. Most of us use GPS more than the fax anyway...
  15. Too bad, it is a good idea. I am out of town on business and needed to find a bank or another business. I could easily do this if I had my GPS and the right coordinates. GPS's are going to become more commonplace, IMHO, and this would be a nice little tool. What could it hurt? I was recently looking for a few stores locally and someone sent me a list of the stores with the coordinates, so I had no problems finding them.
  16. Keep the wife, leave the cellphone turned off... I found a rock that wasn't a rock. Someone spent a lot of time making it. Weighed almost as much as a rock too, so it was hard to figure out.
  17. Velcro.... I use velcro to stick my Legend to my dashboard while I am driving or I have strapped to my left leg. I would follow the suggestion and spend the extra 10 bucks for the Legend.
  18. Welcome aboard from a fellow newbie. I spent last Saturday with some local geocachers and really picked up on some great methods and ideas. Find you some other folks locally and tag along. Great people out there.
  19. I have to vote for the Legend. I got one for Christmas and I love it. Versatile little critter and once you load EasyGPS or ExpertGPS on your computer (they are both free), you can load all kinds of stuff straight off the web.
  20. Most of the folks in my house are a pleasant brown color and speak Spanish, but I don't think it is relevant to the sport. As Mopar said, it has to do with free time and disposable income. I suppose it also depends on the part of the country you are from.
  21. So, does anyone have any recommendations on good battery chargers??
  22. We found one in a tree hung by a plastic strap. Didn't damage the tree. Of course, my son fell on his tailend and pulled a muscle getting out, but we got it...
  23. I don't have a problem with knives in caches as I don't think they create a real danger. Having geocaching banned in places due to a knife being found... that is a different story..
  24. I wouldn't use the word harmless, just because they aren't poisonous. I have had ratsnakes before and they can still bite the hell out of you.
