My coins are still being made but I am planning on putting out as many as I can. If more people would put them in caches I think we would see them move around. I am planning on releasing at least one Generic geocoin this weekend and I have another camo micro that someone has given me to move for them and as soon as I find a good cache home for it I will move it on. Go for it!!!

I hear all the grumbling about there being too many icons and coins and just what they have to do with Geocaching. I personally don’t really know what they have to do with Geocaching except it is fun. Isn’t that what this is all about? Getting out and enjoying the good friends and great hides is what Geocaching is all about. The coins are just a bonus to the real sport and fun thanks to cachers like moun10bike. What will make it more fun is for all collectors to drop more coins in caches so new cachers can find them and start their own collections and list of icons.

The way I see it these are the good old days. Even though I am new to Geocaching with just a little over a year. This is a great sport and great fun. For those of you that think all coins are in the hands of collectors that is not so. I run a Query every week that keys in on travel bugs. My query this week shows 27 valid geocoins in caches within 25 miles of my house. The same query I ran almost a year ago had only 2 geocoins listed. All I can say is thanks to people like moun10bike that helped start the good old days just like today. Happy caching and I plan to drop more coins in caches this year than I did last year. Between Georgia coins and USA coins I put out 25 or so. Maybe it will be 50 this year. These are the good old days for Geocoins. Big Rick I have to say "no" on this one - the first geocoin released was both a signature item as well as a Travel Bug (as were the next hundred or so)!

I love the idea of a generic geocoin!! I hope like AtlantaGal that these will end up in caches across the country. I too will set a few of them free to travel.
