  1. To me it looks like it only applies to iwski because he/she has made a recent purchase. Perhaps you have to check out?
  2. Not to be negative but the shell looks really stupid compared to a 60CSx. All the brands other than garmin make units that look like toys. Thats just my opinion. Hope the internal's are good
  3. If you show only coordinates, it would be extremely hard to navigate as you'd have to analyze the actual numbers which most people don't do. For physical education, not to be negative, but if its anything like my school the kids won't care at all and nobody will take the time to learn how to use a gps (ofcoursre i'm an exception lol). You'd probably have 4-5 kids that do it and everyone would just follow along doing nothing. The best unit would be an Etrex yellow or geko as other's have said.
  4. I just flew across the country with my 60CSx. I'd not advice you to put it in the checked bags because they get a much stronger xray scan. If you put it in your carryon it's fine in those little xray machines. I did have a small problem with the backlight but i'm 99.9% sure that was unrelated to the xray.
  5. The notification service is virtually useless, i'm on it too. A: I don't think they even send out email's for gps software, just unit software. B: When there is unit software, it takes 1-2 weeks for the email to go out. Just check the forum, its the best way
  6. The only advantage i'm aware of other than the mark button (not a big deal at all) is that it floats which IS a big deal if you use it on the water. I have a 60CSx and love it but i don't do any water stuff with it.
  7. terraserver-usa.com is up right now must have just been a server issue
  8. be pretty sad after spending an hour filling out the confusing paperwork, mailing it out, waiting months, then THROWING IT AWAY. It may not be Garmin's fault but they should see the problem and use a different rebate company. I know it is for sure a money saver thing, but thats quite low quality of them
  9. I believe you have to have it on COM1, COM2, or COM3 to use in mapsource. Go into the device manager and set this. I used an IOGear adapter when i had a legend which worked great.
  10. Its gone now from the 60CSx page. Must have been a mistake... sure makes you worried when updating unit FIRMWARE
  11. I have solved the problem, looks like my firewall needed a reboot. It now works.
  12. I once had a Legend and hit 1657mph (beat that!) at an all-day event in the snow with the unit in my backpack all day. That track log was CRAZY lol. Sure wish i thought to get a screenshot
  13. Hi, I have erased my HDD since my last geocaching event (i know, its been way too long) and now i need to spin a gpx into html for my palm. I drag the .gpx file that gsak made onto the gpx spinner icon on my desktop, and it just goes to the screen that says "GPX Spinner Version 3.0 by Lil Devil" and never does anything else. Anyone know what the problem is? Perhaps a download link to an older version? I'm going on a trip early early saturday morning so I need this fixed in one day! HELP!
  14. Does this mean signal accuracy and the ability to get signal under cover will increase?
  15. I've heard of this happening on new units and old software near map tile connections. I had an issue with old software (different issue with entering addresses) and i called and the guy i got was good and he got a 60CSx on his end and loaded v4 onto it and saw it had the problem and he sent me city navigator 8 for free! Only problem for you is he can't simply test it there without going out and driving so it'd take more research on Garmin's side. If you can get a hold of garmin, just keep calling until they help you. I had to call twice to get a good person, the first one just said sorry there is nothing we can do. Good luck!
  16. 1) Basically the card acts as a complete log of everywhere you've ever gone unless you delete the files. You can not access thet tracks on the unit, but must attach it to a computer. You can not transfer to or from the internal memory to the memory card. 2) It will copy the first 20 in the computer file. Backup the file then delete the tracks you don't want until 20 are left, or take GeoBobC's advice and make a second file alltogether.
  17. Nice scenery (and ofcourse a nice gps). Must be a long hike down.
  18. Wow i just checked this price, its come WAY down. I paid $500 the third week after release and its down to $279... I guess thats what happens when you buy new technology.
  19. Wow that doesn't happen every day... I wonder if you'd get a Cx if you ordered a CSx. Have fun with your new unit!
  20. I believe if you go to the cachemate website you can request a second activation code. You might rename the title to be more descriptive if you want more people to read it.
  21. I haven't heard anything, but i really doubt they'd have a new north america so early after the release of v8. If I had to guess i'd say north america v9 will come out around august-september of 07. Just my thoughts.
  22. Lucky the unit didn't fall off your roof! I once had very bad signal locks after going across the country, so i reset it and left it out to 'download' new almanac data and it was MUCH better within 1/2 hour. I don't know what your issue is, but that might just be common inaccuracies.
  23. i don't quite know why you got two 60CSx's, but certainly you should keep one. For the other, if you need the same sensitivity, the only downgrade would be to a 60Cx which is not worth it. I'd suggest getting an Etrex Legend C or Etrex Legend Cx because it will have quite good signal lock (obviously not as good as the 60CSx) but it'll be better than a plain etrex b/w or something. You could get a Legend C used for <$200 and a Legend Cx for perhaps 250 if you shop around. Magellan, you'd have to ask someone else, I'm a garmin only user.
  24. My guess is they are using bug-testing as an excuse to finish UNIT firmware 3.10. Look at the last updates: GPSMAP 60CSx Ver. 3.00 as of Jul 19, 2006 Download GPS Chipset Type G Ver. 2.70 as of Jul 19, 2006 Download Both are on Jul 19th. I bet this next week we'll see both 2.80 and 3.10 released on the same day. Just a guess
