This was included in our log for The Gingerbread Man 'Gingy Gingy meets "Camo-man" The owners included a recipe for gingerbread men and encouraged finders to post pictures of 'Gingy' with a home made creation. Izzy (not being the greatest of bakers ) decided to decorate some shop bought gingerbread men with icing whilst The Lizard King decided on some "digital baking" Our log

Can you help? New Bookmark List
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to Simply Paul's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
This is one of three placed by Nick Hallissey for an article in Country Walking magazine four years ago. You would hardly know it though, the listing has been heavily edited! (Originally it included a competition to win a GPSr.) It is on the Long Mynd in Shropshire - fabulous walking country! GC1JK55Weird Sisters Not a bad video here:- Country Walking -
Multi with physical stages
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to hobgoblinkiteflier's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Agreed ! Ditto We feel really sorry that people have to "sell out" to attract visitors Luckily this one My link remains as a multi even though it is pretty high maintenance for the CO. We found it much more satisfying to complete than a trail -
Walking Boots
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to Lorri-Ann & Kev's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I recently bought some leather Berghaus boots which, so far, have been excellent and were comfortable straight from the box. However, I did try loads of different ones before I found the perfect fit as I did not want to compromise. I also use "better quality" wellies which are also very comfortable for miles as long as it's a fairly flat walk. -
Power Trail in Essex
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to mcwomble's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I totally understand what Andy is getting at (although I feel that we have similar caching preferences anyway ) We have several power trails nearby and we are getting so bored by them. In fact, of those with the minimum distance between caches, we have not completed one single series. The distance walked is not the issue - we have always been keen walkers - but if we have to stop for a cache every 0.1miles, it spoils the "flow" of our walk. Also how much can the scenery change in that short distance? The argument that with the price of fuel, a power trail is more economical does not wash with us - finding 4 or 5 caches with variety on a ten mile walk, having travelled 30 miles is a far bigger attraction to us. We accept that most cachers love the numbers and they would be in heaven living so near a high saturation area. We regret that our preferred style of caching seems to be in decline but feel that we are just going to have to live with it. Our only solution if we should do a power trail would be to walk until we felt like hunting for a cache. This would mean that we would walk past several without searching. It would not be a case of unlogged DNFs (which we do log anyway) but as everyone keeps saying, you don't have to do a cache ......and as a slight "by the way" - I can recommend taking a look at Andy's "Top Cache Award" page. It's great encouragement to strive for a great cache placement -

Torch for late afternoon/night caching
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to matt1988's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Try 7dayshop or play.com they are under £30 quid, with free delivery Those are selling at £40.99 an £38.99. But thanks for the heads up anyways Sorry, I should have said, go for the "Police Tech Focus". It's the P7 under a different name. Compare spec on LED Lenser's website. -

Torch for late afternoon/night caching

We enjoy a lot of night caching and have both got LED Lensers which we are more than happy with. I have thought about head torches for the "hands free" aspect, but did wonder if it might dazzle someone else if you should turn to talk to them? Paul (The Lizard King) already thinks I have a "dazzling personality" so I don't want to overdo it! Izzy -

For a blast from the past...........
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to dodgydaved's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
A few posts back, I had written a reply to give my views as to why we don't find caching as enjoyable as it used to be. I then thought twice and deleted it because I felt that this is such a nice feel good thread, and wanted to keep it that way. I didn't want it to seemingly to turn into an "us and them" arguement. But no one can turn back time and newer members cannot know what it was like in our Good Old Days. A lot of our newer caching buddies think it is fantastic now - perhaps it is their Golden Years of Caching but I wouldn't mind betting that another ten or even five years down the line, they will look back with fond memories at their "good old days" and maybe regret the changes, which inevitably there will be. I agree that there have been some great caches been placed within the last three years but there have been many, many more boring ones placed. I don't agree that new cachers have been "the saviours" of the game. The old hands are still placing new caches too, and there are still many older caches for us to find. In my opinion there are so many caches already placed now that I feel even if no more were placed in the next twelve months, there would still be enough to keep everyone busy (I would defy anyone to say they have done them all!) It would encourage people to go further afield and discover pastures new. Of course, this is my opinion and I am not suggesting everyone should feel the same way -

I used to spend a lot of time on this forum but must have "fallen by the wayside" and have only just spotted this thread Now I'm desperately looking for the "like" button - obviously a sign of the times! Yes, we too long for "The Good Old Days" -
Landowner Permission
Izzy and the Lizard King replied to NattyBooshka's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Is the land managed by the National Trust? I always thought it was the Peak District National Park Authority, or are they just another body that are involved? It certainly doesn't help clarify who you would need to seek permission from. -
I've got this vision of Deci leading a team of newbies through the looking for caches. "You've got 30 seconds to sign the log, do the swaps and rehide the cache" "You call that a fair swap?!!! get down and give me 20" "You call that hidden? A blind monkey could see it from a mile away, 5 circuits of the woods carrying a full ammo box above your heads"
