  1. This is how I chose to propose to my wife. It was written about in the magazine Our Canada at http://www.ourcanada.ca/2008/08/cache_craze.php and by the BC Geocaching Association at http://www.bcgeocaching.com/index.php?name...cle&sid=278 .
  2. Hey Marcus, I am an arborist in Kamloops, BC. I buy my equipment at Sherill Tree, at http://www.sherrilltree.com/Professional-Gear/XTC_2 . They carry your XTC rope. They then ship it to BobCat Country in Abbotsford at http://www.bobcatcountry.com/ . You would be able to get your stuff on the way to Kamloops. Good luck! Brad.
  3. This is a great product! I hope that it can be a new feature on the next gen Garmin 60 series.
  4. Those are absolutely spectacular avatars. I just learned what they are today. There are some talented people out there. I am sure we are way down the line but it cant hurt to try. We are a geocaching couple (yes, both long haired hippies) that feel like kidz when we are out caching. We use a Map 60CS and are from Canada. I got this picture from a magazine because I thought it was funny. I don't know... I was thinking of a GPSr in the girls hand and maybe a cache box nearby???? Whatever you guys can come up with is prolly a lot better that what I can as I lack artistic flair. Hope I did this right. Pic can be found here: http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/log/24e90...46258f60571.jpg Keep up the great work Hippie B Edit: For some reason the pic is much clearer until I load it onto the GC.com site. The original and scan comes out way better.
  5. I do think that the plastic could be vulnerable to UV Light after long exposure.
  6. Like everybody else said, I recommend the ammo can. But I got a Pelican Hard Case for christmas that I think could compare to the ammo can. It is submersible to 50 feet, has an automatic pressure purge valve, dustproof, crushproof and comes in solid colors or clear with colored liners. The price is not that bad either. See here: http://www.pelicanshippingcases.com/pelican-micro-cases.jsp Hippie B
  7. I joined yesterday and I am putting in a vote for ITRAC. I am looking for some advice or guidence. I realize that there are many TB's that have been hoarded for much longer (so you can tell me if I just need to be patient) but this one is going on 2 1/2 months and the cacher has been to 3 caches since. The last two cachers have had this TB for over 5 months and it is making it so everybody else cannot log it. It is a Jeep TB and all the other cachers moved it very quickly. The reason I care is because these Tb's do not come to this part of the world very often and when the do they are hoarded. Let me know what you think. The TB can be found here: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...b1-5ab8652a4f11 Let me know what I should do. Thanks for any help. Hippie B
  8. I got a new Garmin soft cover for my 60CS, an awesome Ram (super solid) car mount for my GPSr and a Pelican hard case. The Pelican will make an awesome cache (waterproof with purge valve) but I am to scared to use it because it is so nice it could get muggled. A great christmas for me. Hippie B
  9. We are from Kelowna and I am not aware of any clubs except the BC Geocaching Association. It focus is really in the lower Mainland though. Hopefully one day there will be one specifically for the Okanagan, the sport is still in its infancy here though. Hippie B Edited: Spelling
  10. My mistake, we use GPS Central out of Calgary at http://www.gpscentral.ca/accessories/geoaccessories2.htm
  11. I have been ordering from GPS city. This is what is says on their website. We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, personal and company cheques (at our discretion), money orders/bank drafts, email transfer, wire transfer, RBC direct deposit, and bank cheques for payment from within Canada and the U.S. Hippie B
  12. It sounds like you don't have google earth loaded on your computer. You have to downlaod the program for things to work. hope this helps. hippie B
  13. charliezulu I go into Mapsource, go to view, then go to - view in google earth. This is assuming you have Mapsource.
  14. How do you get those cool screen shots from google earth (like DBC above)? What I would really like to do is email a screen shot but I do not have accounts for either of the providers listed. Any help is greatly appreciated. Hippie B
  15. Thank you. I knew there was a way around it. Worked like a charm. Hippie B
  16. I know this has been answered but I have not been able to do a search for over a week and it makes sifting through the forums rather hard. Anyways, I logged my visit to a cache but forgot to click the Tb so it would be dropped. Now I cant figure out how to drop it. I tried editing option but the Tb is no longer there. Thanks for any help. [] Hippie B
  17. Being from Canada, you can't let a little snow stop you. We bring the car snow brush. It makes it so your hands don't get too cold. All though, it will not work very well when the snow turns crusty.
  18. Try this address... http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...4e-d07fa911309a. Sorry, do not know how to make a link yet.
  19. Where do you get those containers Corp of Discovery? What are they called? My biggest question is how easy do the logs come out? I find mine expands when the paper is rolled. The longer it stays in the container the tighter it seems to get. Thanks for any help. I lurk all the time and get so much info from here. I want to say thanks to all that contribute.
  20. I've been using Geocoder.ca for places in Canada.
  21. 3 to 5 for me. Can't wait to see some designs. HippyB
  22. Do a search by postal code, Fairmont is V0B 1L0. That should bring all the caches up in the area. There are a few along the highway but most are found by following a forestry road. There are some great caches in the area.... enjoy. HippieB
  23. Oh yeah, it is also very safe here.
  24. I live in Kelowna, BC and I would give a nod to SW BC. Including the Okanagan Valley and Vancouver Area. It rains here less (in Kelowna) and is one of the warmest areas in Canda. Hope you enjoy your trip. Hippie Kidz On to the next...
