  1. I found a cache the other day that had one of those spring snakes in the container. When I opened the lid it shot out and about scared the crap out of me. The real cache was hidden behind the container in a rock wall bore hole. I got a good laugh out of it. Grimmie895
  2. My wife has an ipone and decided to download the $10 application to it the other day. The features for 'paperless' caching and finding spur of the moment caches near you was really really cool. I'm thinking I'm going to get an iphone now. I didn't attempt to use it as the gps though. I've had a Garmin GPSMap 60C for a few years now and love it, especially after adding the street maps to it. I will have to get out and try usuing the iphone for geocaching and see how close it gets me relative to my gps. Otherwise, the program on the iphone does most of what the geocaching wap site does, if not more being more interactive. One problem though with the ipone application was that we were logging cache finds from it, but when I got home to check my finds page on the website, none of the logs registered on the site. Not sure if this was a one time problem, or if it's a glitch in the software. I hope this helps.... :-) Grimmie895
  3. Ahh...that's a great idea. I'll try that. thanks!
  4. Yeah, I've been manually loading all of my archived caches one at a time. It just seems like you should be able to do a query on all of your caches and have the .gpx file give you 'all' of your caches including archived ones unless you specify otherwise. Seems like it would be something easy for geocaching.com to include in the options of a query. Thanks for the quick responses. Is there a place to post a request to add archived caches in your search to geocaching.com?
  5. I like to know if there is a way to generate a pocket query of caches that I own that have been archived. I would like to be able to download a .gpx file of my caches that I'd like to get back up and running. I can go and manually download them, but it's kinda of a pain. Or is there a way to download all your caches, including temp unavailable AND archived caches that I own in one .gpx file? It seems this could be an easy program modification to the website. Any suggestions? Thanks, Grimmie895
  6. If the Cache lid isn't under ground then it is not burried. I've found many caches of this type. Considering most caches in rock walls are covered basically the same way, shouldn't those be held under the same rules? Maybe we should have to leave the cache un-hidden and in plain sight?!? I thought part of the fun is having to search for the treasure. I agree it shouldn't be 'burried', but an exposed lid should be allowed. Just make sure the listed difficulty and terrain match the expected levels. Either way, I'd just hide 10 more caches to keep the sport alive. Grimmie895
  7. I was out with a buddy (TM2) caching in a back woods area. We weren't too far off of the main trail when we walked towards the cache noticing a car close by. I was thinking it may have been stolen and stashed there, but when we got closer we noticed a bare chested guy sit up noticing us walking around. We thought it was hillarious and couldn't stop laughing as it was obvious they were 'doing the nasty'. We found the cache about 200 feet away from the car and then walked away. I'm pretty sure they continued on doing what they were doing. That's the first and only time I've seen somebody doing that while caching. It made for a great laugh.
