  1. Thank you both very much for the reply, I found the website to be great and have downloaded the upgrade software and exactly what I was looking for is now there :-).
  2. Greetings, Long story short, I have come into posession of a Garmin Colorado 400t. It's one of the early versions though because I recall it being purchased soon after this model was released "with a lot of bugs to work out". Apparently one of those bugs is that I don't have a "found" option that my geofriend had on her (apparently) identical model of GPS. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with it, I love being able to share coordinates so quickly and the topo maps and all, but it would be nice to note found caches. Also, when I download a geocache and seek it, on the map it shows as a 'waypoint' flag, not the geocache box. And "Waypoint Manager' does not seem to have record of them so I can't change the icon that way. Is there a software update download or patch I can download? TIA
  3. I so totally agree...I had a TB that was ALMOST at the main completion of it's goal, at least, the Chicago part of it, when it was "taken to TX for Thanksgiving". I couldn't believe it...all it had to do was complete it's goal in Chicago and make its way back to me in MN. But now it's in TEXAS, so very far from it's goal, and in a puzzle cache (limiting the chances of getting back on the trail to Chicago again to those that solve the puzzle) no less . Thus illustrating the very lack of control over a TB...there's really not much to be done but hope that the upcoming travels have pictures posted so I can enjoy its journey. *sigh* BUT WHY DID THEY HAVE TO MOVE IT TO TEXAS?????
  4. Thanks :-). I'm able to get there now, I guess it just took a bit longer than I expected for the registration to make it over to the Forums.

  6. Greetings, I can no longer log in to the Forums on MNGCA, not even with creating a new account. I show as being logged in on the Main Page but when I go to the Forums I am no longer. When I try to log in it claims my username is invalid (or some similar problem) and I am not listed under either my regular name or my "new" name on the "forum user list"...and someone I know that just registered a day ago is on there. I have already double-checked the username/password combination over and over so that's not it... I have also emailed the "contact" administrator, no word back yet. If anyone that administers the MNGCA.org page sees this PLMK why I can't get on. TIA
  7. Wow, unbelievable...but what can be expected from someone who's email addy (according to your profile) includes the term "bubble farts"? In reference to a subsequent post of yours, "Non-geocacher" is not a "label", it is simply a term to differentiate between those that geocache and those that don't. BTW, there might be medication available for whatever your mental health issues might be, but if it's a personality disorder you're SOL. Good luck with that....
  8. Thank you. The cache has been unarchived, thanks to mtn-man . Now I can quit obsessing over it and start trying to find a new spot for a new cache.
  9. Greetings, I recently noticed the hiding spot of one of my caches had been turned into a brush pile, and when I went to check on it I did not find it and figured it had been taken by whomever did the cutting of the tree. Figuring it was gone I jumped the gun and went directly to "archive it" and then received notices that people were finding the geocache, but not where it should have been. So I went out and found it and recorded the coordinates and tried in vain to unarchive the cache. When I clicked the "Enable" button I am brought to the page where you note if it has been found...so I posted numerous notes and even tried to contact the reviewer directly but no luck. The cache is still archived and I have not heard back on what I should do. How do I get the cache unarchived, or should I just re-post it as a new cache?
  10. Indeed? It sounds rather unreasonable to me because it means that if you don't have a TB to leave you cannot take one, even if you can get it further towards its goal. I hope My TB doesn't end up there...I'd hate for it to languish because visitors didn't happen to have a TB to swap it with. They're called TRAVEL Bugs, not STATIONARY, or VACATIONING bugs Which is why I don't pay attention to "TB Hotel rules"...I want MY TB to travel with anyone that can help it along and I figure other TB owners feel the same way. I have no problem with TB hotels, just the sometimes anal-retentive 'landlords' that expect strict rules to be followed. There is a very active "TB Lounge" in Beaverton, OR that I have frequented several times when I lived there, to pick up TB's that I could help along. It was very handy. I totally agree with the proposal that TB hotels only exist in areas of VERY active geocaching though, a TB hotel can be a great place to make a quick pick-up of TBs to help but not if they are way out of the way and/or difficult to get to. "Hotels" are supposed to be convenient.
  11. My screen name is sort of a pun on my real name (Anna) and my favorite martial art, Aikido: Thus, "Annakido". Also, my sensei gave me the idea by sometimes teasing me (when I did something differently than we were doing it) by asking "are you doing Anna-do now?" ("do", pronounced 'doe', means "art" or "way").
  12. 'K so... What are they exactly then? I always considered "trade items" to be things one takes/leaves as a token of/to the cache find to be kept or traded in another cache, while TB's are simply to be picked up and moved to another cache, not kept as a token of the cache find. Those that keep TB's as their trade are doing the TB owner an incredible disservice, but (as others have pointed out in other TB comment-postings) once you leave it you have no control over what happens to it. Some people take them because they don't know any better (novices, no doubt) while others take and just keep them (who knows why?) with no intention of ever moving them along. I've read of cachers that collect TB's and never move them on, but never have these TB hoarders posted why they spoil the TB's sponsor's fun of seeing their TB travel by keeping the TB's to themselves.
  13. Greetings, I am moving from the great Pacific NW in about three weeks, and have a cache that will need to be adopted . It seems to be a pretty popular cache in a very active park in Beaverton-Pitfalls of Geocaching. It is also located in an area where there is a lot of trail maintanence and the area has changed significantly in the month since I first planted the cache. My son graduates June 5th, and we'll be loading the truck the following day (or so). If there are no takers of this cache I'll disable it at that time. TIA and happy hunting!
