  1. Woot! The (almost) complete set of five Thurus coins made it here today. My wife and I are stoked, and arguing over which of these five is the nicest looking. If we'd got the cointest one we'd have an even harder time. (She wants me to add that she is sad, and that this means that nobody likes us... Do guilt trips work well on coin vendors?) Z.
  2. It didn't make it here today... But then I'd have been surprised if it had. Thanks for the update Z.

  4. Well, if it isn't a chest burster, perhaps a facehugger... Z.
  5. I think it will be a mystery gift from Mister Gray... Oh, you mean I have to guess what the actual gift is... Hmmmm... My wife thinks it will be an X-Files the truth cache is out there geocoin. I suspect that it will be something truly alien and strange, like anchovy ice cream.... Z.
  6. Greetings, I realise it's bad form to log caches that you placed. After all, you know where it is, there is no difficulty to finding it, even a 5/5 is easier for you than for anyone else... However, I now own five caches, of which I placed one. The others were placed by someone who is no longer caching and was planning on retiring them. One of their caches is such a nice cache that I wanted to keep it going, so, as I live near three of their four caches (near as in easy walking distance) I offered to adopt them. They agreed and so I took over the four caches that they owned. I had previously found and logged three of them, but had never found the fourth. I hunted up the fourth cache, checked it was all good, and logged it. After all I didn't know any more about where it was than any other finder, even though I was officially the owner. Is this considered acceptable or should I delete my log (or change it to a notice or something)? Thanks, Z.

  8. Probably from the Address List thread, in this forum :-).
  9. I am absolutely astounded. I went to check the mail today... Bill, geocoin, pathtag, bill, pathtag, junk mail, junk mail, Mr Gray envelope, bill... Hang on... I walked into the house with the biggest, stupidest grin on my face... My wife took one look at me and said... "What is it?" A most interesting missive which we both read. We believe... But payment will have to wait until payday. Still... We got a letter. Z.
  10. I'm afraid I'm still waiting for that coin to get here... It will be worth it... Looks like Penny and Kona have taken care of the few outstanding people for the moment. Z.
  11. Sure... Email Sent: 27th October 2010 Name Received: Card Sent: Card Received: Z.
  12. Oh, I hope Z will say that we can play! Sounds fun :-). Irish
  13. Presumably this is for the mystery coin that a different thread is about... So, spoil the mystery and show us the coin, or guess that it is alien themed and go from there. I'm waiting for the design a mystery coin for Mr Gray cointest myself. Z.
  14. He's not kidding! It's very rarely that I see him get as excited about anything as he was when he received that Loon*a*Tick coin!
  15. How in the world can you expect anyone to choose JUST 3 favorites? I can't do it.... But I find that, in my own collection, the 3 that I most often have sitting on display stands, here, are: 1) Crowesfeat30--Carpe' Cache' 2) Team Sand Dollar 2008 in satin silver 3) Lotus Compass--Set version The list of ones I REALLY want but either can't afford, or can't find, yet, include: 1) Tranquility Coin in either the Red/Gold version or the "Dark" version 2) Tengwar coin (the 2.125" size) in Turquoise Green/Silver 3) The Wishing Coin I'm sure Zwack's choices will be different than mine--and even my choices are subject to change from day to day :-). Irish
  16. Thanks Gatoulis... My wife did all of the design work, I merely gave her advice on how to get the software to do what she wanted. I'm not sure how useful that advice was. But she managed to design the coin anyway. We do share a house with some macaws, so she didn't need to go far to get artistic inspiration. Thanks once again, Z.
  17. Yeah, "cheeky" is definitely one word to describe Ceilidh :-). Conniving, ornery, and too smart for our own good, also describe him pretty well. He's also extremely loving--to me :-). Everyone else gets the beak. In other words, he's got the stereotypical Scarlet personality. I love this crazy bird!
  18. I hate to disagree with people... but I'm going to anyway. 1) Coins you traded for in some way are your property and unless you agreed to any conditions when you got them then you can do what you want with them. 2) Coins that you are given are your property, and unless you agreed to specific conditions when you accepted the gift you can do what you want with it. 3) Mystery coins are actually the exception. No conditions can be attached to the receipt of a mystery coin (you can't agree to conditions before you receive it, and if you don't agree with the conditions you can't return it...) So, from a legal point of view you have less potential restrictions on mystery coins... From a personal point of view I would say that the one mystery coin that I have is worth more to me than any of the other coins. I don't know who sent it, or why me, but I really appreciate the spirit in which it was given and the design of the coin. If I don't take it to my grave it's because my wife outlived me and is keeping it. So, unless you were given explicit instructions to return the coin, or not to sell it, do what you want with it. Z.
  19. The presale goes on until November 7th if I remember correctly... Plenty of time for you to order the lot. Z.
  20. How kind of you! You're the 2nd person who has told me that if we make it, they'll buy one :-).
  21. I really appreciate the advice. We'll do that (order different samples). I didn't even know you could. This is my first time, after all :-). Irish
  22. We're thinking that 2" would be about right.
  23. some more questions... Would translucent colours be better for the two tone areas of the bird (the feather areas) or opaque colours? My wife was thinking that opaque would be more vibrant (although it would require outlines) except for the facial patches and the beak which could use translucent enamel with different metal depths. Would people like a hole or a hanger as part of the coin, or prefer it to just be a flat disk? Thanks again, Z.
  24. Yes, the idea was to use half raised metal under translucent green to get the background. I'm not sure that detail on the background is so important, as long as it continues to suggest tropical rainforest, then we're good. What is the difference between IHE and soft enamel and are they both available in translucent? My understanding is that with soft, the metal is plated, the enamel is dropped in and sets, while IHE is enameled, then the coin is "stoned" and then plated. Is that right? Z.
