  1. I would definitely enjoy doing this cache I hope it comes out awesome!
  2. My cousin was telling me that he heard of a person that made a cache where you had to get to the GZ and press a button to make a tree door or something open, allowing you to search for the cache behind the door O_o Have any of you ever came across something like this or heard of it? If so, do you have any links where I can learn how to make something as awesome as that?
  3. Muggles are the greatest Geocaching magicians ever: they can make your cache disappear in a matter of minutes
  4. A couple years ago I was in Grand Rapids, MI and considered going after a cache which was on an island in the middle of a pond. I knew the ice would be sufficiently strong for me to just walk across, thus foiling the high Terrain rating. Alas, I was always nearby when it was dark, so never got into the park for it. I would have gone for the one on the island near me, but we had a warm winter this year, and I didn't want to risk it
  5. There is a "5T" (much easier to say than 5-star terrain ) near me, which requires getting to an island via a boat or when Lake Superior freezes over, so I can see what you mean. If that's the case, though, there should be a separate notification for cachers if they need special equipment, rather than having 5D or 5T show that special equipment is needed because sometimes a cache may be much harder to find than 4D or 4T, yet doesn't require special equipment. That's my opinion, though
  6. To be honest, I've been kind of intimidated by the caches rated five stars in difficulty because the three-star ones are quite a challenge for me. I feel like if I try to find a five-star cache, my head will explode with frustration. I know some of you guys have come across some of the five stars, and I was just wondering if you could give me some advice when I finally decide to take the leap into five-star caches or give me some ideas on how hard the five stars actually are
  7. The closest one to my house is in a park, about .1 mile away. The easiest one I've ever found is hard to tell, but it would probably be this one - it was hanging in plain sight
  8. I want to be led to a hidden area that is very beautiful - somewhere not a lot of people know about. As for the cache contents, I would like to see a cool-looking container, clever hiding spot, and a few travel bugs
  9. I have only come across deer and birds, but I have seen fresh wolf and coyote tracks while Geocaching
  10. Yes... We have converted more rebels to our cause...
  11. I use a Garmin nuvi 765T and iPhone 4 to go Geocaching. Both of them combined allow me to get accurate results, so definitely having two GPSrs there with you is a plus. As far as the iOS vs. Android Geocaching app goes, I haven't used the Android version. On the other hand, I have the iOS Geocaching app, and it is superb - the app, along with the recent update, allows you to search for caches with specific qualities, take notes, automatically solve hints for you, and log the cache from your iPhone. Buy it. Nao.
  12. I have two GPSrs, my Garmin Nuvi 765T and my iPhone 4. Usually, I look for nearby caches relative to my position and then enter the longitude and latitude into my Garmin; that way, I have two GPSrs looking for the same cache. In addition, I store a pencil in my car in case of a nano or micro. For my first few caching trips, I used paper, but now I use paperless because it's much more convenient and good for the enviornment
  13. I haven't found many caches, so for me, it's your garden-variety deer
