batsgonemad and his squirrel replied to batsgonemad and his squirrel's topic in South Africa
in a nut shell i think garmin are just using open cCHING to boost their sales of handheld gpsr. I mean for goodness sake their mascot is called opie, everything they have said in their statment kind of seems to be a copy cat from garmin -

Mega Scotland 2010
batsgonemad and his squirrel replied to Tricky Vicky & Mickey's topic in South Africa
Well i concur with the above, a great event was had, great to meet up with you folks after soo long and hope you got that screen protector waxed A busy day was had, with meeting people, buying coins, caching with a German couple who we met at one of the caches and it ended up that they were staying at the same B&B as we were. For those who are thinking about it, give it a serious think, it is great, here is the link to the cache page http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC2921G For us it was a round trip of 2406km, up the west coast of Scotland to John O'Groats, over to the Orkney islands for 13hours of straight caching, then back down the west coast to Perth for the Mega and finally home. Total cache count round about 110 mark...im still logging all the finds. So plans are in motion for Wales next year, hope to see some of you there. -
Keep them eyes peeled guys you never know what you may find out there. http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/finds+ex...9127/story.html

Problem with 62s: Shutdown
batsgonemad and his squirrel replied to DriverFound's topic in GPS technology and devices
Well I bought mine in the Uk a week ago, and yesterday while I was on my week trip of Scotland all I got when I powered it up was the garmin name and that's where it gets stuck. No mater what I did phoned garmin and even with their help I'm still no better, it would seem like a softwear faliar so I have to send it back to them. Hugely disappointed has it had my weeks work of caching on it -
Nine geocoins for nine provinces
batsgonemad and his squirrel replied to BruceTP's topic in South Africa
Another idea would be what tourist attraction makes that province known, remember to cater for the market, produce a coin and icon that is going to sell, the USA is the biggest market for buying coins, perhaps approach the tourist board and maybe get some sponcership from them, in return you could offer them a marketing space on those little white cards that one gets with every coin in the plastic covering. What a great way for the tourist board to get some great exposure, and you guys extra cache making it easier on your pockets
