  1. Cool, thanks for the replys Cheers - Geoff.
  2. Hi, whats the norm for local cashes? I have 3 within a couple hundred meters of the house, at least 1 always has a TB. We have done all these cashes before. Is it right to visit the cashe again, just to grab a bug if we are off somewhere? We did this for holiday last week, and now the wife is saying to grab another bug thats there as we are off out this weekend also? Is this OK, or not? Cheers - Geoff.
  3. I logged the TBs drop off with my phone as I remembered I had free internet on it!!! Logged the rest of the cashes when I got home.
  4. As Cashing is as much for getting the kids out in the fresh air, kids like propper cashes, nanos are not so much of interest, unless they are only like 50% of a walk. Dont even do the walks where only the end cash is a bigun!
  5. Hi, we go on Holiday next week, found a TB to go with us, but I just thought, that I will drop the TB off, I wont be able to record it, and it will maybe get picked up again, before I get near the internet to record it. Is this a problem? I may also find TBs and coins while we are away, and even drop them off again before I have logged it, so again, they may get picked up from the new location before my logging. Does this upset the system? I know I can backwards record the date of my pickup and drop off, still concerned though. Will have many logs to download from the Oregon when I finally get home!
  6. Hi, ordered my Oregon 450 on Saturday, so it should arrive in the next 2 days To get me up and running quickly, please could you suggest where to get the best simple maps, and if quick guides dont exist with them, where the quick guides are. I have just downloaded the map from talkytoaster as it looked quite good. Any others? Cheers - Geoff.
  7. Hi, what is the right thing to do when finding travel bug and geocoins? Should you leave something of the value that the travelbug is attached to? The bugs seem to be atached to much better stuff than the rest of the things? Or nothing at all as its a traveling item? And when we drop them, do we exchange the TB for something or not? We dropped off 3 things for the 2 x TBs we found today, just want to know the right thing Thanks - Geoff.
  8. I will look at the Oregon 450 then, and add the mapping to it Seem to be around the 260 mark on-line so not "that much" more than the Dakota 20, although if I do go for an OS bundle with it, where is the best place to look for the best deal? Or will the best deal be on a 450, plus discover maps? Thanks
  9. Cool, thanks for the replys My worry was, that when you "tick" the box on the garmin website for paperless cashe, it only brings up the Oregon series. If the Dakota 20 does the same, screens as this: I will buy one.

  11. Hi, looking to buy one soon, Got a Garmin Etrex 12 channel, which is fine, but I neeeed some tech Like the look of the full pages of info (GPX files) but from the info I can find, can only the Oregon 450 take this out of the 2 choices? TBH, the Dakota would do me just fine, but, I do want the full GPX pages, decripted hints, latest logs? Can the Dakota get me the full info? Thanks - Geoff.

  13. Hi, thanks for all the replys so far, dont think I need anymore to get the idea Myself and the girls traded similar value items, and indeed put a couple more items in a nearly empty box, after reading the comments that this particular box was completely empty a while back. Agreed, its not about the absolute swag value, I was just trying to get an idea about the value of toot for us to carry. Agreed, that the kids loved it regardless of value. I will still carry the odd good item in case I get lucky!!! PS, we did find a TravelBug, didnt know what it was about till we got home, but once we did, we followed the instructions of both TBs, and the owners Cheers.
  14. Did our first Geocashing at the weekend in the UK, 15 of them in the end, the kids loved it. My personal dissapointment though was the poor quality of the cashe goods in most of the tins. When I read the review of the cashes, some had a list of what they had in them when first placed, torches, bottle openers, key rings. But now, generally there isnt anything better than the kind of toot found in christmas crackers. This is of course fine for the kids, but its a bit of a deception for newbies, who dont know what to carry, like I carried some real nice key-rings, a 1gb compactflash card, a brass thimble, a mini torch etc. Also, as there "was" some good stuff in the boxes at some point, and the rules say you "must" exchange for equal or better, I guess some people are effectively stealing value from the game. So I now know what sort of toot to carry for my swaps, its all good, I wil of course carry maybe 1 good item in case I strike lucky, but will this happen? Is it better in other countries? Thanks - MrGeoff and Family.
