I never said trash, I said trap. There is a difference between the two of them. Okay. Trapping a bug means you restrict the movement. What's trapping a cache, pray tell? Ahhh that is for me to know. I will never tell me secrets. Just TB's will appear in other caches magically.

This website is simply a listing service, the Yellow Pages of geocaching. They don't own a cache or listing any more than the Yellow Pages owns the business being advertised. They do have control over what caches they choose to list, the same way the Yellow Pages control the businesses they will list. The Yellow Pages have their requirements. Try to place an ad for for an obviously illegal endeavor. It will probably be rejected. Try to place an ad with profanity, and it will not see print. They have their guidelines and GC.com has theirs. Suppose you place a Yellow Page ad and they find out later that you don't serve black people, or that your business is really a house of prostitution, they can pull your ad because it doesn't meet their listing criteria. So no, GC.com does not own your cache or listing. You can take your listing elsewhere. They just decide whether or not they choose to present it. Do the yellow pages retain control after things are published? no Does the yellow pages have the power to remove an ad once it is posted? no The yellow pages has the power and the immunity because is it a yearly publication that cannot be changed until the next year. Apples to Peas When you make this kind of comparison though between a website, and the yellow pages I must agree that you compare two separate things. Take Websites that let people create trails for other people to hike outdoors. Those trails can be very dangerous, just as a true 5/5 GeoCache can be. The website hosting the trail information would not be held liable if someone was to get hurt following that trail. I could be wrong. If you would like I can contact an old Prof of mine, and ask him about it. He knows a lot of people who work with this kind of stuff.

Actually they allow you to create a page on their server. Just like if you host a webpage on any other server you are the responsible party to make sure it fits within the specified guidelines set forth by the hosting party. If you find a Christian webhosting company, and put Satanist material on their server and it violates their TOS they can ask you to remove the offending material. If you choose not to do that then they can remove it for you. They never actually take ownership of the page. They just exercise their right under their TOS to do it. You are the responsible party no matter what. Any lawyer will tell you the same thing. They host it for free. If you dont like the way the site is then find another site to host on.

I say plan a prison break anytime you come across this kind of prison. Never stand for this kind of stuff. If you trap my bug I will trap your cache.

As far as getting a key I say go to a lock smith and have him do a bad cut of the correct key, then just produce 48 more of that same key. That way the keys are for the same vehicle, but only 1 will work.
-
The one way to keep people from grabbing all the keys is to limit 1 key per person. That way there is no want to collect more than 1 key. Just a thought.

What's the Best Thing You Left Behind In a Cache?
ihorn replied to Snoogans's topic in General geocaching topics
I would have to say my best thing is in a cache I just placed. I left 3 balsa wood gliders like I used to buy as a kid. I am sure most of the older guys know the ones I am talking about. -
Puzzle Cache with only one find in 9 months -
ihorn replied to Castle Mischief's topic in General geocaching topics
Yeah E could be 15. I tried the puzzle. There are 3 aircraft I dont know, but then again I dont know all aircraft. I messaged the owner. We will see if I am right so far. -
I have a hint for a puzzle i am doing that just states "I am an enigma wrapped in a riddle." Hints are just hints. Some people cant give a hint without throwing the answer to you. Some people however can give you a hint without giving you the answer.

How did you get the 10 traveler tag tracking numbers for free?
-
The only answer I have for you, as I am sure people who have been around longer will also say is that people play the game differently. Some people play the game just to get the highest find count they can, or just for the numbers. In my opinion that is the only reason that these kinds of power trails are created. Then again I am still new at this, so what do I know. I will wait to see what others who have done this longer have to say.

No they havent. I think they might be soon though. I mean thy outlawed smoking almost everywhere in the city I live in. I am not even allowed by law to smoke on the balcony of my apartment. I think the way the law is written is that I have to smoke in a sealed room with particulate filtration for the air, 1 million miles below the surface of the Earth.

Actually I think what you wanted was Na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye

I think you had a great idea to do a trackable tire cover. Now if I can just get the Fiancee to let me buy an SUV with a rear spare. Hmmmmmmm

I am sorry you havent gotten a written response from the reviewers in SoCal. I have not had any issue in talking to them at all. Who are you trying to contact and not getting a response? I'd rather not mention names here. But if you are placing caches in SoCal (LA and OC areas) you know who they are. I know who they are then. If you email K(you know who) then you shouldnt have a problem. I always receive replys to my emails to him.

I would email Groundspeak customer support. My Garmin eTrex didnt come with any cords to connect it to my computer, and they were able to input the information for me, and upgrade me to a premium membership for my free trial. But. Remember it's the weekend. All Groundspeak employees will be out caching, or doing 'family stuff' True, but your email could be the first that they look at when they get in Monday morning.

As of right now I am at 19 to 0. I have one cache in the works thats a multi/puzzle. Its just making sure everything is correct, and will be good before I place all of it. Who knows I might just put the waypoints as part of the single cahe page, and just add the puzzles for the last one. just gotta figure it all out.

Why not talk to your local reviewer, and see IF you can do an Event Cache for this festival? That is a possible solution for you. You could hide multiple caches that way.

Have you ever smoked a muggle while caching?
ihorn replied to 4wheelin_fool's topic in General geocaching topics
Nope never smoked one. I think there would be just too much blood to clean up. I have smoked a cig while caching though. ***This post is meant as entertainment. It is in no way to be taken as actual thought. -
Are you sure that it is a Geocoin? It could be a signature piece someone left in the cache for another cacher to grab. Could you post a pic so we can see what you mean?
-
Where is that exactly? Or roughly?

A little thing about Rattlesnake bites ok. Just because you dont think you were bit with venom, you always assume you were. The reason is that you just never know. Also you never know if there will be some kind of reaction to the bite. Even a nonvenomous bite can cause serious problems for some people. So always seek medical attention. Previous posters are right though, they normally will warn you. Just make sure you walk with heavy footsteps so they know you are coming.
