  1. Been there done that yesterday. It shows up in my activity that I logged it but It still does not show up in my inventory. I am holding mine until July 1 to see if it changes.
  2. This method did not work last night but does this morning, But the jeep still does not show up in your inventory. It may not until July 1?
  3. Eureka - I have the answer - I think. I could not log the red jeep at Geocaching.com. Go to Groundspeak.com and on the right side there is a section called "Found a travel bug". Put the tracking number in there. It shows that the bug is already activated so you need to select found it. It shows up as belonging to you in Groundspeak but not at Geocaching.com yet. Not sure when it will show up on Geocaching.com. BTW - I dug through 2 bags of smelly garbage to find the shipping package. No activation code on or in the package.
  4. I was lucky and was selected to receive one of the new 2007 red jeep TB's. It arrived in the mail from Groundspeak with no written contents. When I tried to activate it, I need an activation code which was not provided. I tried the TB number for the activation code with an error. I will keep looking and post back.
  5. You are a tough new geocacher to do this without a GPS. Kudos....
  6. Some caches require you to answer questions from an historical marker or use a webcam in a parking lot etc etc would not present any challenge without a GPS.
  7. Edit "rules" to prohibit ownership of a GPS? Why regular caches only? It is also fun to do a multi without a GPS. I get to calculate the next spot, then plot it on my map with a dried up pen in a rainstorm. Half the time the coordinates are off the edge of my map and I have to go home to print out a new one and come back... Some puzzle caches are very interesting without a GPS as well, but in all honesty many caches are easier with a map than with a GPS. With the best aerial photos out now an experienced map/photo reader can often identify some of the individual trees in a woods.
  8. I recently grabbed a cache without my GPS receiver. I have done this a couple of times previously and thought this would make a nice hardcore twist to Geocaching. This usually works best with caches that have descriptive names or clues and are in areas that you are familiar with. Proposed rules for Naked Caching. This applies to regular caches only. GPS cannot be used within 0.1 miles of cache location. No aid can be given by someone else with a GPS or someone who has been to the cache before. Unlimited research can be used while at home. i.e. Google Earth If enough people start doing this maybe Geocache.com will add this as a new category. Tell me what you think about Naked Caching - For Hardcore Caches only....
  9. The Sacramento California area has a series of creature feature caches. At least one is a night time only cache. It is "Living dead". Cache GCQY27. This cache is a lot of fun and includes a bright surprise when you open the cache container. You probably follow the fire tack reflections 1/2 mile to get to the cache. The key is having a bright flashlight. An LED, weak or small flashlight will not work. A large bright flashlight is best. Cache on.
