To be honest the whole thing is a bit of a hotchpotch. I'm not allowed to ask for a photo as proof of visit - but people who haven't managed to answer the questions correctly cling to the fact they have a photo as proof of their visit as their entitlement to log a find. I have to work incredibly hard to provide logging tasks that satisfy the reviewer's standards but I'm encouraged by the same reviewer to just hand over the correct answers to anyone who didn't get them right - despite the fact the reviewer made me work very hard to put together an Earth Science Lesson that facilitated answering those questions by a 14 year old with no prior geological knowledge, and refused to publish the EC unless I did so. I think the record was seven cycles of edit and resubmission before the cache was accepted - but I'm still supposed to just hand over the answers to anyone who bothered to turn up - and possibly some who didn't turn up at all. I think the icing on the cake was an initial rejection of a question about granite, the basis of which was the reviewer having granite worktops in his kitchen meant he could answer that one question without going to GZ. And the latest trend - can't have questions about stuff that can be seen on Google Streetview. What's the point of that restriction? Disallow a location on that basis because it's a way for people to cheat but then encourage me to just hand over the answers anyway? And then I see new EC's published where I can answer the questions to the CO's satisfaction using only - you guessed it - Google Streetview. I can well understand how some might feel that the reviewer's mood on a particular day is a fundamental element of the whole process.

Crack on. Enjoy yourself. Couldn't give a fig. You should remember though that the OP was trying to do something helpful rather than issue aggressive threats of vandalism for no useful purpose. I've pretty much given up on any trackables I released anyway. I think that one there might be the only one that hasn't vanished off the face of the planet - which is why I won't be wasting any more money on them. That and I won't have to endure being threatened here on the forum.

Maybe, but it would be so worth it. In fairness, it's frustrating enough when my own threads are cut short with the excuse of being 'off topic'. I wouldn't want to be the one to cause this veteran thread to be brought to a pointless, untimely end.

Might be an English colloquialism - don't know. It refers to sending someone out on a wasted journey - especially knowingly. Something akin to a wild goose chase.

I highly doubt this was GS intention. I bet they sell a very small % of all trackables of hundreds (thousands?) available vendors. Who do you think those vendors buy their trackable codes from?

But the CO has the right to trail people out to the cache who won't be able to complete it and thus will have wasted their time? Nah.

I think this is the first souvenir that you actually can buy if you're desperate. I think they are all geared towards numbers = bums on seats = $$$

Activate trackable = 10 points = we would like to sell more trackables. A more cynical person than I might imagine that the motivation behind all these challenges is just $$$.

I thought there was reference to a T1 being up in a tree or in some rafters, just before the I'm the CO and it's my cache and my business comments. That's what I seem to remember at least and probabl why it's now being pointed out that there's at least one DT rating that you can't use unless your cache fulfills certain obligations.
