  2. well I have a high tech camera,, how's that? I could take some pics of us getting to it and finding it, but wasn't sure what was appropriate for showing others. I mean in the line of giving it away pics of gps? of groups of us? Sue
  3. Hi all!! my hubby bought me my Garmin etrex Legend at xmas time, cuz he is always worried about me wandering the bushes at hunting season and getting hopelessly lost,, (I tried to tell him that his troubles would be over then) lol and it sat till the beginning of this month,, I struggled with mapping programs, and I just couldn't figure out how to install them to it,, but hubby come through for me and figured it for me,, and I went out on my first geo cache after a buddy of mine from a hunting site (he was the one who helped me with maps and stuff, and belongs here) and told me that there was fun to be had with a gps!! he was right!! I am so hopelessly hooked now, and the only thing that stands between me and geocaching is my job!! lol I love the outdoors, and love to be active, and my daughter gets a kick out of it too!! I would love to find someone in my area who also enjoys it,, I need a buddy to go out with... Sue
  4. Hello! I have been a member here for a few months, but until the 7th of this month (August) I haven't done any geocaching but now I certainly have the bug,, my question is "are there any geocachers from Kenora area?" and "what is appropriate for taking pics of?" I mean I hate to give away any information on the cache itself for future searchers,, I took some of the first one I went to, but decided it wouldn't be a cool thing to post them,, so I posted a picture of the first page in the log book,, would that be considered ok? Ok Sue, a word of advice. You cannot use nasty language in this forum. Words such as "housework" are not permitted. Get you priorities straight and find the caches first. The forecast for the weekend is tremendous, my lawn and garden need lots of work. Too bad, it can wait. Cheers, Olar too funny!! and point taken!! I am grounded for a few days now, so we'll see if I can get out later in the week, but at this point it ain't lookin good we did manage to get away for the weekend tho, to our future hunting ground... was so nice to escape!! Hey! I live in Ontario Canada, close to Manitoba and I am not too sure how to go about finding other caches in this area,, I have found one, but how do I know if it's still active? message the person? or am I missing something? spring is here, and want to get out there and play with my new toy... missy
  9. oh for sure!! I won't quit!! I am way too stubborn for that!! I was wondering tho,, and forgive me if this has been addressed previously,, but once I get the topo maps made,, can I download them to my gps? I have been so busy I haven't had a chance yet to read some of the other threads on questions and answers,, I am hoping things will die down soon there is too much snow here for geocaching at this time anyways,, hope to get at it in the spring tho!! missmod
  10. I was so happy to read this post,, I downloaded the stuff needed to do it,, and somewhere I got all screwed up,, so back to square one again I am very new to this, and really want to get it figured out!! thanks!! missmod
  11. Hello and Happy New Year!!! I am very new to this, and was a little apprehensive of posting as I have NO knowledge of geocaching,, as yet! but I have been "lurking" as well, and have learned quite a bit!! I live in Ontario Canada, and I thought at first that my gps was too small to participate in such a fun sport,, but after reading more I realized that I am 'in' the game!! and second of all I didn't think there would be a lot of activity where I live,, but I have been lurking and found that to be NOT true!! I am anxious to get out and start!! I have a garmin etrex Legend,, with some memory, and presently I am trying to figure out how to get maps.. thanks for a great forum! missmod
  12. the temps here are in the -30C area,, much too cold for my gps!! is it not?? I have had it out a few times, and boy, does it drain the batteries fast!! That's why I was thinking of getting serious about 'geocaching' in the spring, when it's warmer on not only the gps, but my little fingers!! LOL and NO! I am not a whimp!! missmod
  13. Hello!! I am brand new to this new game... got myself a Garmin etrex Legend for the big day! what a surprise that was!! and now a friend got me onto this geocaching! and I am already hooked! although haven't been out yet, and don't suspect I will till the snow goes,, as I am not sure what kind of caching can be done with all this snow we have,, I am anxious to get started tho!! at first I thought that that my new gps was not big enough to participate in such a fun game,, but after reading several posts on here,, I see that I am well equiped!!! missmod88
