  1. There are times that the My Finds Query doesn't seem to take. The last one I have retrieved has been in January. When I click the toggle button te screen will fast cycle to the exact same page with none of the greyed out toggle that would be normal otherwise. Is there a certain time that these take better than other times or certain antivirus block the attempt? amishangel
  2. Might see you as/if you come through Amarillo Tx, One of the oldest cache sites is located nearbye===> 14 Jan '01 Lighthouse by Eoghan. If you have good hiking boots can find it right proper. Or if hiking isn't in the realm of possibilities, "big black marble" is a right nice place to congregate...bet some of the cachers south of us perhaps, Plaidbeard's Crew and/or charizard would like to get in on this? The amish postman
  3. I'm still a lurker after all these years. Don't seem to have any useful information to exchange (mostly) so i tend to keep my keyboard quiet and sift your offerings to better my knowledge. Been my philosopy until recently: A wise old owl sat in an oak, The more he heard, the less he spoke; The less he spoke, the more he heard; Why aren't we all like that wise old bird? ---attributed to Katherine Hepburn but then...if this were true, be one vast wasteland of a forum if everyone lurked
  4. I retract my original concerns, since...well...pfffttt admins...lock this thread please...better yet erase it some folks are so narrow minded in discussions they can see through a keyhole with both eyes.
  5. Santa ana conditions...it's so dry you can spit and when it bounces off the ground the friction would be enough to ignite a fire. Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari? http://www.texasgeocaching.com

  9. Hope I don't get rocks thrown at me. I have gone as far as replacing a cache box after finding it dry rotted from atmospheric exposure and animals using it for a chew toy. Tupperware can only last so long in such a hostile environment. I carry around a couple of ammo boxes with geocache stickers and have transposed the data information exactly as it appeared on the old one. I also have a few pages of this "do not take letter" that is listed on: http://www.geocaching.com/articles/making.asp laminated and ready to go for caches that don't have one. All of the contents goes into new box and I go my way. which brings me to a question. How does you feel on this topic it it was done for/to you? corollary added: I have notified the owner(s) and to mostly a dismay never get a reply, some that do are most receptant to such an offer and others are...not. Been interesting to see the comments from the owners who don't reply (been only three) when they discover the changes that goes from !!!!! to $#%%$^&%. I don't feel like a candidate for sainthood for this, nor on the otherhand compared to a serial murderer. But by standing a flock of sheep in that position, you can make a crowd of men" - Max Beerbohm_ fascinating...on one hand I could see the owner of these caches coming in with blood in his eyes over this... but then...briansnat would have to look in a mirror to see the owner...with tongue firmly planted in cheek. 13. There was was one event I would care to not have a repeat. Grass high as your chin, and you can't see your fool feet very well. Wife told me she could hear a few rattlesnakes buzzing. I'm 100% deaf by the way in the sound range snakes rattle make and can't hear them. Just as I got GPS to zero guess what I found myself standing over besides the cache. A six foot rattlesnake had just about got wrapped tight enough to make a go ahead and tap me with it's teeth. Didn't make it however, I shot it with the .45cal from a stand up, look down and boom. Must have not been more than two feet away. Amishgal and Amishgurl and I almost walked on water getting out of there. 15. I use a reach and grab that has a hook and a handle, about 2 1/2 feet long for getting some of these questionable caches. One had a black widow (latrodectus mactan) about as big as a nickle that was some kind of pfffttthhh about my disturbing it's home under the cache. Handle did a fine job at beating the insecta into the folage background. Might consider one of these to add to your back pack to drag out a cache. The one i use is: http://www.beabletodo.com/Detail.bok?searchpath=a0a0a0ef8404b29d28c&category=Reachers&start=1&total=5&no=12 Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari?

  17. It gets me out of the house when I would otherwise be wondering if arthritis will allow me. Something about looking over the next rise...and the next...and the next. 20. Like Chevrolet once wondered why the Chevy Nova didn't sell very well among spanish speaking folks. Do you know what Nova means in spanish? It means "No Go" You folks have any idea what the deaf community would think if they saw the placement of the "L" hand along the lower part of the face. A visual connection between two people and this sign given is ...ummmm... not nice within their culture. this link shows the American Sign langauge shape. http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/L/W2046.htm I am showing this to you as an edification and nothing more Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari?
