  1. Beta maps shows the caches I am currently ignoring. I would like to have the personalization option to remove them from the map or, at least, display them with a different icon (a frownie will do). Since there have been occasions when I needed to restore (unignore) a cache, optional display would be ideal for me.
  2. I, too, mourn the loss of the zoom function. Though the default is OK for most caches, some I visit are so far in the boonies that all I now see is a blank area. It would be helpful to zoom out to better plan my approach. I find the default map size is usually too large to fit on the description's first page and the only other choice illegible. I believe an intermediate size map would prove more useful to me.
  3. I received the gift yesterday and named it Trust Me
  4. Eric K came through with the activation code yesterday. Thanks.
  5. I have a naked 2003 USA coin that I wish to activate. It's not in USAgeocoins online database. My August 8 email to support@usageocoins.com returned only a useless automated response. Where can I turn now?
  6. I think it was 63 finds that weekend. I drove and Joe directed. They were honest finds, too. My only contributions were to tell Joe which caches were overrated, underrated or easy multis. And about 10 of those finds were new for me so I was a happy camper.
  7. I agree that much of the clutter on an event page reads, "Bug drop,""Dropping off a coin,""Kerplunk" and "Splat." Most of the coins (and a few travelers) will be brought to the event so that their owners may show them off and allow others to log them as having been seen and handled. I see no need to log those trackables into the event at all. It's easy enough to grab the trackable from a previous cacher. While I believe that those coins and travelers to be traded at the event should get logged in, I see no need to keep the notes that put them there. Cachers (or event cache owners) may delete their notes from the confirmation page or at any time later; the trackable remains. True, watchers will still get emails for the notes but the event page will be cleaner.
  8. "Generic"? Sure, just throw away all that dumb stuff on the obverse and make it a smiley.
  9. I placed Gold Span (TBPCAN) into Musical Series: Annie Get Your Gun (GCQMNK) today. It was another pleasent stroll along a bicycling path.
  10. I placed Cool Yule (TBPE0C) into Allien Airport Diguise (GCRPAA). It was a standard tree climb with the lowest branch out of jumping reach. I just moved back to get up enough speed to run up the trunk so I could reach that branch. Then it was a simple climb. I found it to be a fun cache but my Hoveround will never be the same.
  11. Today, I placed an Anheuser-Busch "Operation Salute" commemorative coin into Music Series: The Phantom of the Opera (GCQMP6). Though not a GeoCoin, it's nicer than most. No adventure, just a nice stroll.
  12. Dunno that I care to see every cache in the state denuded of travel bugs just for an event.
  13. I suppose I can only hope the prizes will be traveler related. I would be terribly disappointed to win a prize only to discover that it's a ready to hide cache or mapping software.
  14. I didn't think of Old Man Winter and so chose to name mine Cool Yule. Whatever its name, it's a fine coin. And I appreciate the idea of allowing logging of it instead of a greeting card.
  15. In that case, I have four entries: TBMCF8 placed into SRT - Single Rope Techniques (GCK5TN) TBMDMN placed into Orange Crush (GCPHJ0) TBMEY2 placed into Under the Waterfall (GCG1MB) TBFEF7 placed into Last Time in '05!.... 8:30-10:30! (GCRDT2)

    I'm interested in two regular.
  18. Years ago I, too, saw many Waypoint15 coins in caches but I left them all alone. I considered them to be symbolic of vanity and viewed them with some distain. Apparently, vanity has value.
  19. Since some cachers may only download cache coordinates to their GPSrs without reading their associated description pages, it can be used as a flag to cachers that they need to read the page. Here's an example of such a cache.
  20. That brings to mind an episode from the Mork and Mindy TV show wherein Mork tosses up a couple of eggs and exclaims, "Fly, be free!" {splat}{splat}
  21. Don't know about any incident in NV, but a bomb squad blew up this cache in WA. They took out this one in TX, too.
  22. You can drop off a travel bug and avoid disturbing the logs by first posting the drop as a note. Then, when the confirmation page comes up, delete the note. The travel bug will automagically appear on the cache details page with no log entry. Finally, grab the bug from the cache. The cache page may gain a "View Bug History" line but you now have two logs on your TB page which you can edit to add whatever adventures you care to. I would be interested in finding out if the cache owner gets notified about such aborted notes.
  23. Cachesafari offered this idea on the Texasgeocaching.com site: The Dallas area has caches in some really great nature areas and hiking trails. I'm not really that athletic, but since I have starting geocaching, walking/hiking through these locations has been one of my favorite aspects. Some of them have been a bit long, but my endurance has improved with each one. I have made a favorites list of the ones I have visited in the area: and presented this link. I added this link to the discussion.
  24. I have logged over 700 failures. Who, in their right mind, would want to read them all? What idiot would create 700 bookmarks? Could the system even handle that many entries to a list?
