  1. Actually, according to PA statute while an unmarked car CAN make a stop, and a non-uniformed officer can also make a stop the following defenses are written in the statute: http://law.onecle.com/pennsylvania/vehicles/00.037.033.000.html © Defenses.-- (1) It is a defense to a prosecution under this section that the pursuing police officer's vehicle was not clearly identifiable by its markings or, if unmarked, was not occupied by a police officer who was in uniform and displaying a badge or other sign of authority. (2) It is a defense to prosecution under this section if the defendant can show by a preponderance of the evidence that the failure to stop immediately for a police officer's vehicle was based upon a good faith concern for personal safety. In determining whether the defendant has met this burden, the court may consider the following factors: (i) The time and location of the event. (ii) The type of police vehicle used by the police officer. (iii) The defendant's conduct while being followed by the police officer. (iv) Whether the defendant stopped at the first available reasonably lighted or populated area. (v) Any other factor considered relevant by the court. FireRef's response is 100% on target. As for the OP, the guy is likely a fraud. US Marshall's don't investigate suspicious activity like this and are likely unaware of this stuff going on. If they were they would call in the local uniformed patrol. If they were doing a stakeout and confronted you, you would know for sure they were the police.
  2. OK, looked into it further, You use the SatSync software to import geocaches, either by .loc file, .gpx file or the zipped Pocket Query Files. Geocache files are considered OOI's (Objects Of Interest). You then use the SatSync software to send these files to your GPS. From the SatSync manual: There are three types of files which you can download from geocaching.com and import to your Active 10: 1) LOC Waypoint File: this file only contains the latitude, longitude and name of a geocache 2) GPX eXchange File: in addition to the information contained in a LOC file, this file contains the cache type, size, description, difficulty, terrain, recent logs and hints. SatSYNC also downloads pictures if they are available as illustrated in 13. 3) Pocket Query Zip File: this zip file contains several geocaches which meet your search criteria. The zip file can contain either LOC files or GPX files. You can build a pocket query by going to “Your Profile” and clicking on “Build Pocket Queries” which is under “Premium Features” Please note that you cannot send geocache files to your Active 10 by clicking on “Send to GPS”. You need to download the files to your computer and then import them to your Active 10 by using SatSYNC. You can find the imported geocaches in the Active 10 OOI Folders. When you have found or not found a cache, you can change its icon accordingly through the Edit POI Menu (see the 1.5 Active 10 Full User Guide). SatSync Manual Active 10 Manual SatSync software enjoy Geocaching and let us know how it works out!. As a side note, its neat to see this is a UK product as it refers to "pubs" in the manual.
  3. looking at the manual you save the gpx to you pc and use the sync software to load to your gps. so you should need a cable. you'll need to experiment on whether a PQ of data can be transferred or just one at a time. if you are not premium members for PQ'S you can get a month for only $3 to try it out.
  4. sorry, mobile version of the forum doesn't show the topic description. I didn't see what the discussion was about. no, I don't keep a log book.
  5. t4e, I like the choice. on the pc I use the center button to open in new tabs.
  6. I don't see a TFTC as you didn't like my cache. I see it that my cache just didn't rate more for you to say.
  7. Seriously? You've hidden 21 caches. Cache Listing Requirements/Guidelines OK, wrote that on the mobile, so I wasn't as clear as I could have been. I had been looking at guidelines on deleting logs in the knowledge books. It is under Log Deletion. I didn't see anything about bogus logs or anything like that. I couldn't find the other section on my mobile so I was looking for a link to it. I see the section now, thank you for the help.
  8. can someone link to these guidelines. I can't find them.
  9. perhaps they did say thank-you, in the physical log, the only place they are required to sign. lazy cache finders who don't meet your ALR of saying thanks online doesn't exempt lazy cache owners from checking the physical log before deleting an online log that doesn't meet their standards.
  10. I switched to Opera mini, whatever issues I had earlier have gone away. mobile versions nice and fast now. the dolphin hd browser I was using on my Android phone was super slow on these new mobile forums.
  11. I have no issues with the homepage as is. I would rather see an update to the profile page. Many of your suggestions are good, I would just rather see them on the profile page. It would be nice to see widgets we can move around and show what we want. I dislike having to scroll down for the link to PQ's.
  12. I actually dislike it and would prefer an option to see the standard version. . As often as I've seen variations on "I hate the new web site, please change it back" it's not very common to have multiple versions of a web site, especially when there may be some underlying dependencies (like a database) that won't work with both versions. So far I like what I've seen for the new forums site. I dint mind the new forums, but the mobile version is buggy and hard to use and there is no way, that I can see, to switch to the standard, web, version. I have a link at the bottom to change the theme and view the full web version
  13. OK, Seems while I thought I was logged into the forums, I was not. So now things seem to work fine.
  14. I like the new forums. But when I tried them on my mobile I am having problems. Using Android 2.1 HTC Desire on the default browser and Dolphin HD I can't them to load completely. I can browse and read, but no reply buttons or anything else load up. Using the Opera mini browser the forums are jumbled up and wouldn't load well at all. Anyone else having issues?
  15. The difference is that a reviewer is asking the cache owner to go to the cache and verify that there is no problem. If you are paranoid that a blank log might be bogus, do the same, go to the cache and verify. Actually I really don't care either way. My point and my opinion which will not change is that without proper communication the cache owner has reasonable cause to delete the cacher's logs. The cacher at that point can do the leg-work necessary to prove their find to Groundspeak and get it reinstated. The problem with your argument is that proper communication for a 'find' log is the log itself. Requiring additional activity, such as an email response, is no longer allowed per the guidelines. If, as a cache owner, you believe that a log is bogus, the onus is on you to prove it by going out and checking the physical logbook. I agree completely. Until you have bothered to check the actual physical log you have no proof that the cache finder has done anything but find the cache.
  16. Looks great, easy to read. Doesn't look like some 3rd party forum on some other server now. Feels like I am still at the GC.com site. Great job!
  17. It's so very simple. If you think the log is bogus, go out, check the physical log. If nothing is written the delete the log. You ask how do I know if they really found the cache or not? Go check the log.
  18. c:geo will allow you to import gpx files. Never tired it, but it has the option. Go to Stored and then Menu - import
  19. CR seems quickest for me. I don't even have to download manually as CR does it for me. Unless I want to filter, CR is great.
  20. Just because Gorak says that doesn't make it true. Per the License Agreement. we all agree to when we use a PQ we cannot use the information to upload to a third party site. Anyone who does could have their account locked here at GC.com. Not sure if GC would do that, but they could per the agreement. Or at least block you from using PQ's. The only data that is yours is what you upload. So in a My Finds PQ, the only data in that PQ that you own is your log saying you found a cache. The rest belongs to others. Its not your data to do anything outside the realm of the License Agreement.. A PQ also contains copyrighted info beyond just cache info. So while a PQ that shows my hides may contain mostly my data, not all of the data in the PQ is mine.
  21. uh, no they don't. cache listings and their content are owned by the respective authors. by submitting the listing to Groundspeak, the author grants Groundspeak full, but non-exclusive usage rights. the data is still owned by the author and they're free to do whatever they want with it. OK, perhaps you're right, but if that's true, then how can Groundspeak say that it is against the TOU to share pocket queries? What is their claim? The data may be yours but the gpx you pulled off their service is theirs. You can plug your own data into gsak and create your own gpx file. But the one you get from the gc.com service, they control how you can use it.
  22. I can't even log into their forums right now. Even resetting the password and using the one they reset it too won't log me in.
  23. Amazon Lightning deals are running GPS units right now.
