  1. OH! Now I see! There’s just one missing word that, when added, will make everything right-- instead of "Message this owner", make it "Message this cache’s owner" and then it all falls into place. "A cache by XXX", followed by "Message this cache’s owner." Nothing else needs to change. That’s a very minor detail that will prevent my brain from hemorrhaging, so I’d appreciate it very much, thank you if you’ll do it! ;-)
  2. So I hid a cache in 2007 (which one is irrelevant), then moved an hour away in 2009, and I don't drive anymore. I kept tabs on that cache until April 2010, then managed to have someone who lives closer take it over. The logs say "<cache name> was transferred from <me> to <her>" on 04/24/2010, yet still at the top of the page, just under the cache name, "A cache by <me>." Originally, yeah, but I'm thinking that when someone wants to contact the owner, they'll glance at that line at the top, as opposed to scanning 14 years of logs to find the one saying "<cache name> was transferred from..." So I'm thinking that whenever a cache is transferred to a new owner, shouldn't that line just below the cache name reflect the most recent owner? Now maybe hardcore cachers would appreciate (or demand) that "Originally placed by..." be displayed up there, I don't care how that gets resolved. Oh! And I just saw that after "A cache by <me>" is "Message this owner", except that takes me to a new message to the person who last adopted it. So it just seems confusing that the language says "A cache by XXX", followed by "Message this owner", which results in a blank message to YYY. Maybe this isn't a practical concern. Oh well, do what you will... CacheDeal
  3. Yes, The A-Team was correct when they wrote "Another way is to go to your Account Details, and look for your "Member ID" in the top left section", but just to save y'all a few seconds of searching, go to your Account Details, and under the Settings menu is Account, which is where you can find your MEMBER ID.
  4. I'm sorry if this is not the right forum. I believe a minor change to the way caches are presented is needed. I hid a cache 13 years ago, then moved away 3 years after that, donated my GPS, and gave the cache up for adoption. If you look at https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC18079_fore, it appears at first glance that I still maintain this cache since it says at the very top "A cache by CacheDeal". It's only by digging through ten years' worth of logs that you'll find "Fore! was transferred from CacheDeal to user puppyluv68" in April of 2010. I suggest that text be changed to reflect both the original owner and the current owner. I think it should be changed to something like this: "A cache hidden by CacheDeal on 12/17/2007 and now owned by puppyluv68. Message this owner" I pulled all of that text right off the page so I know it's technically possible. What do y'all think? --CacheDeal
  5. Okay, many much sorry for not posting this sooner, but when you're recovering from a car wreck, your schedule gets... kinda busy. Got one of these beauties months ago.
  6. If you're coming from I-26 to I-95, Area 51 wasn't out of the way at all. Straight down I-95, though, I guess that's the ten minutes Ertman110 mentioned. If by any chance your folks live in Sun City, there are a few _very_ close by.
  7. Hi! I was on vacation for a week in Bluffton visiting my parents when they gave me the present of a GPSr, so we've sampled some of the area caches. I don't know the best ones in the area, but of the ones I've been to, I enjoyed: Sergeant Trask Cache On the way there, a must-see is Area 51 also nice was Mad Cat's Blue Heron Trail Romp If you make it down to Savannah, I really liked What the heck is this thing? Good luck with the caches on Hilton Head, we have many more DNFs there than smiley faces. Cheers, CacheDeal
