  1. I am selling my Garmin GPS Map 76. The unit works great and has never had a problem. Details on the specific unit can be found here... https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=169 I am asking $90 for the unit, which retails new for $165.00. I am also including the PC serial interface data transfer cable for the unit as well, which retails for $24, at no additional cost. The cable allows you to upload data/maps/waypoints to and from your computer. If you are interested in street or topo data for the unit let me know, I should just be able to burn you a cd at no cost. You can email me or call my cell at (954) 815-0914 or home (508) 348-2983 with any questions. Thanks for looking!
  2. Does anyone have the Garmin 2008 Topo that upgraded from the old 3.x version? If so, what do you think? Is it worh the upgrade? I know they have a rebate and all, but i was curious how the maps have changed, if at all. Are there any new features that this release has that the old one did not? I am in the NE and not near any national parks. Thanks! westwind
  3. I am selling my Garmin GPS Map 76. It is a great unit and works perfect. I will also include the computer update cable at no extra charge (this unit does not come with one new, you have to pay extra for it) The unit is running the lastest released software from Garmin. I can also pre-load specific street/topo data for your area before I ship it if you wish. Any questions just let me know. Thaks for looking!
  4. I know on my 76CSx it has an 'average waypoint' feature, it is in the manual, i have not used it though. Check your manual.
  5. I was afraid of that. Although that does surprise me a bit. I used to work for a large survey/engineering company in FL, although I did their evironmental consulting. I used to take the CAD files and drop them in AcrView as shapefiles then transfer then to the gps and have a perfect outline of my boundaries so i knew were i was in the middle of the wetlands/forest. None of that would have worked with arbitrary coordinates. I knew something was fishy when the numbers were so close to each other (x,y). Oh well I guess i will have to try to find at least one point then break out the old tape measure!
  6. I thought i could figure it out but no luck, i might have to call him. The state plane #'s on mrSid are not even close to what he gave me so I am not sure what he was using.
  7. Ok, I had posted a couple weeks ago about a plot plan and trying to get coordinates off of it somehow but it was figured out that it was not going to happen. So I called the surveyor and he was very nice and gave me the 4 corners of my property from his file, now all i have to do in convert them, but i am having issues. I am using Corpscon 6 and I can not find any combination of the settings to output the right coordinates, can anyone help? A couple set of numbers he gave me were 5018.6569 5027.2179 and 5152.1800 4939.0613 I am looking to get numbers after the conversion close to: 41.69903 70.03228 Those are numbers in the middle of my front yard. I feel I am getting closer to being able to do what I want, all i need is a little help now! Thanks! westwind
  8. Doug, You are correct, for the most part i believe. one line is N 56 degrees 33' 55" E (118.27 feet), and the other is S 27 degrees 21' 09" E (166.28 feet). I have been playing around with corpscon but i am not getting close to converting them for some reason. Out my front door my numbers on the GPS are: N 41 degrees 41' 56.5" W 70 degrees 01' 56.2" As you can see I am having trouble doing the conversions. I believe these are your bearings, would be followed by distance. Such as, N56 degrees 33' 55" E , 000 feet. These are bearings in quadrants. In azimuths the first (N56 33 55 E) is 56 degrees 33' 55" the second example (S 27 21 09 E) is 152 degrees 38' 51". Without seeing the deed this is my guess on what you are reading. Of course I've been wrong before. Doug
  9. That's right! I used to use that program all the time for other conversions. I will give that a shot now, i just remember it took me a while to get it right last time i used it! example of numbers on the plot plan are: N 56 33 55 E and S 27 21 09 E. Hopefully this will work!
  10. Hello all, Quick question, is there a way to convert survery numbers (the corridantes on a plot plan or such) to normal gps coordinates? I am looking to find the corners of my property, well at least to within a small area. At my old job I had ArcView 8.3 (GIS) and I would just load the CAD file from the eng. dept and i would have it set automatically to load the shapefiles into the gps unit and it was done. Well, since i changed jobs, and do not have access to a CAD file how would i do this? Thanks! westwind
  11. I was curious if I can load aerial images into my 76CSx? I previous have worked with GIS apps (ArcView 8.x). I have access to aerials with embeded coordinates but is there a way to load them into the unit and have them display on the screen? I have a feeling the answer is no, but i thought i would ask anyway. Thanks! westwind
  12. Ok, final price drop Anyone interested for say $125 + shipping? I kinda figured this unit would go quickly as it is a great unit! I have run a lot of the eTrex series next to this one and it maintains the signal so much better. Anyway, if you want to make an offer feel free. Thanks, westwind
  13. Is there any difference between the City Navigator and the NT version. I know that the NT version is compressed different and has smaller map files which allows you to be able to fit more maps on a chip. Besides that, is there any difference in the software, data, way it works in the unit, etc? I am using a 76CSx Thanks, westwind
  14. I picked up a Garmin GPSmap 76CSx to replace my older GPSmap 76 unit. I would like to be able to use it in my truck for driving and directions. Garmin offers City Navigator and City Select, and according to their site both will work in my unit. The question is, which is really the right one to get? Ii can not find a place to really compare the 2 products so any info you might offer would be great! Thanks, westwind
  15. Ok, how about if I drop the price to $140? Any takers?
  16. Was it flat on the dash or lying down? How hot did it get in your car? The specs say it is not suppose to get over 158.
  17. Hello all, I have a Garmin GPSmap 76 for sale, asking $150. I have the latest Garmin Topo maps and the Garmin U.S. Roads & Recreation both on CD. I can pre-load any areas of interest that you want to the unit before shipment. I was going to load some photos of it on here but i guess this site does not allow it, if you are interested I can send you the photos. If you have any questions feel free to ask, Thanks for looking, westwind
