  1. I agree - mine used to lock up when looking at the description in the additional waypoints, not the cache itself. Now no more lockups with 6.0 on anything !!! Having said that I have probably now gone and jinxed myself .... And ditto - caches only ever get loaded to the SD card. Maps too for that matter.
  2. Yup, I use the map view only - just follow the pink line ......
  3. I have been using ver 6.0 since the day it was released and had none of the issues described by other users in the thread that I linked to. I do not use the compass to navigate to caches so unfortunately I cannot report on that.
  4. Hi Danie Any chance of getting an update on the top 81 Difficulty / Terrain stats? Possibly for the top 20 as you did before? Apart from those that have recently completed the matrix I know that some others have made significant progress on their travels to the MEGA.
  5. According to the Oregon Wiki ver 5.50 is the best working one - http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/message/view/home/56714778
  6. Well done to CownChicken, The Huskies and Henzz. Great to have been there (well almost anyway) when it happened !!
  7. If you do not need the device for navigation then perhaps a GPS tracking unit like this one will do - http://www.trackstick.com/ Or perhaps something like this - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/674216-REG/Igotu_1085_GT_600_USB_GPS_Travel.html Maybe google around a bit and come back with some ideas? I have no experience with these devices, but perhaps someone else here does .....

Nice one Treunkie !!!! Here's to many more !!
  9. The Traverse Reverse / Kloof Corner / Frodo's is by far the better hike - I have done it twice but am certainly in for a third run at it.
  10. D®ive the Bus is an underwater cache up north.
  11. Hi Wow, thanks for the offer !! Paddawan and I are currently looking for accommodation - arriving Thur evening and leaving Mon morning. We will have a hire car as we plan to D®ive the Bus plus some other stuff, if you are prepared to put up with us put us up that would be great. Regards Andy

    Well done Paddawan !!
  14. Ditto Team vdlo - this must have been a huge effort on the organisers part, looking forward to being there! 20 bucks a day for three days of caching, getting to meet some of the folk who's caches I have had so much fun in finding - priceless !
  15. Perhaps with your next listing try a Firefox plugin I use called Write Area - no messing around with HTML codes etc ..... Just enable HTML in the listing, right click in the box and select Edit in Write Area in the box that pops up. You then get a WYSYWIG editor that saves your stuff in the correct format. My link
  16. I started out doing it as pointed out above. Then someone pointed out a Firefox plugin called "Write Area" My link Install the plugin, right click in the text box and select "Edit it a Write Area". No codes needed, simply use the formatting in the toolbar and save. Available for Chrome as well.
  17. Capeccr and I have planned an assault on Spillhaus Ridge tomorrow - all welcome. Some scrambling and exposure involved involved ! Meet at the Constantia Nek parking area @ 8:30 for those that have the day off. Route down optional, but we currently plan to come down Nursery Ravine - can play this one by ear though.

Congrats to Terunkie and Hesamati on your respective milestones !!1
  19. And you can get free SA maps here - http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/
  20. Is it not possible to assign a different track log colour to each profile / custom profile? Edit: Oops - There I go making the assumption that you have a GPS that supports profiles like the Oregon 450 does .....
  21. You can use either Basecamp or Mapsource (both are free) together with the free maps mentioned in other threads above. You can then import your pocket queries into the same software, so you will then have both maps and geocaches on your screen. Now all you need to do is place a waypoint with a 0,1 mile proximity around it on the map to see if you are in the clear - when you save the waypoint there will be a red circle drawn around it at the radius that you set.
  22. This has happened to me too ..... caches failing to load. What now do is send them to the SD card - if the caches do not load I pull the SD card, start the unit and the shut it down. Then I re-insert the card, forcing the GPS to re-load the caches.
