  1. I use gmail for all my geocaching emails. I checked this morning and saw a new cache notification, which I received at 23:23 last night. On checking the cache page, I find it's been found twice and DNFd 3 times... Is seems the notification email was generated at 11:55, but I didn't get it until almost 12 hours later. Checking the other emails I got yesterday (new cache notifications and watchlist), I find delays between sending/receiving them of: 10 minutes 15 minutes 20 minutes 1 hour 6.5 hours 7 hours 7.5 hours Is gmail/googlemail now throttling Groundspeak emails, too? Is anyone else having similar problems?
  2. Go to the "Edit Account Details" page (http://www.geocaching.com/my/details.aspx). You should see a "Send me a weekly emailer of new caches in my area." checkbox.
  3. If you're using Firefox, there's a GreaseMonkey script HERE which lists your logs at the top of the cache page, as well as totals by log type, whenever you are viewing a cache page which displays all logs. If you also install the "Show all Logs" script, you will see your logs on the top of every cache page, without having to click "View them all on one page".
  4. I think you're talking about Group Camping Cache The logs are in date-of-log order, with the oldest at the bottom. When there are two logs with the same date, the first-entered (older) log is at the bottom. So, the sorting is correct - I don't see a bug. It looks odd because The date of your find (on your own cache - did you mean to post a note? You can change the log type by editing it) is the day before the cache was published. The second find also has a date of the day before the cache was published (makes you wonder how they got the coordinates )
  5. Geoff, try http://www.xisoft.co.uk/caching/gmscripts.html - Maps and extra icons http://gmscripts.locusprime.net/ - Various tweaks to gc.com http://www.lildevil.org/greasemonkey/ - Geocaching bag o tricks
  6. There are instructions HERE on how to include your stat bar on a webpage.
  7. Same for me Looks like they forgot to feed the hamsters again.
  8. No one mentioned PQs except you, Wegge. Team Misguided is referring to Notifications. TEAM NICKELBACKERS, unless you are a premium member, I think the only thing you can do is re-check each caches page before you set off to find the cache
  9. Not sure what makes a well 'Holy', but don't see this one on your list: Rebra's Well
  10. In THIS THREAD from last week, Jeremy said he'd fix it "on Tuesday". So, it's not intentional. Looks like the "fix" got missed.
  11. Create a Pocket Query which returns caches owned by you. No need to ever run it. Preview the query, click on 'gallery', and you'll get all pictures for your caches on one page. I know that's not what you're asking for, but it should be quicker than your current method
  12. Select 'upload images' from the cache page to upload an image in the same way as you would for a log. This will add a 'picture' icon (hover over it to see the image) and a text link to the actual image. If you want the image to appear as part of the cache listing (without hovering over the icon): - Go to the actual image and copy the URL (http://img.geocaching.com/cache/{something}.jpg) - Go back to the cache page and 'edit listing' - Make sure the 'The descriptions below are in HTML' box is checked (if it wasn't already checked, this may mess up the text formatting on you cache page. You might need to add <br> at the end of each line) - Add an img HTML tag to the description: If the image is already the right size: <img src="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/{something}.jpg">'>http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/{something}.jpg"> (replace the URL with the URL of the image) If you want to change the displayed size: <img src="http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/{something}.jpg" width="100" height="200"> (Change the 100 and 200 to give the required display size) NOTE: Uploading an image to the Groundspeak server can reduce its quality or change its dimensions. For some puzzles, it may be necessary to display an exact copy of the original. Images don't have to be uploaded to Groundspeak (you could use your own webspace, or another image hosting site). Beware of linking directly ("hotlinking") to images on another site - see HERE HTH
  13. It's still in the order I described (i.e. sorted by "Date Found" Descending, then "Log Entered" Ascending") on the .../my/ [My Account Details] .../my/logs.aspx?s=1 [My Geocaching Logs (All)] and .../my/logs.aspx?s=1&lt=2 [My Geocaching Logs (Filtered by Log Type)] pages. On the .../seek/nearest.aspx?ul=User ["All Cache Finds" from the Geocaches tab of a user's profile] page, however, it seems to be sorted by "Date Found" Descending, then "Waypoint ID" Ascending. This has changed (when caching with someone else, I've previously used their list of finds to remind me of the order in which we did the caches), but it's no big deal.
  14. If you asked me to write a list of "the caches I did yesterday", I'd put the first cache at the top of the list. That's exactly how it appears at the moment, followed by the previous day's caches (again, first at top). I can't imagine anyone would benefit from having logs in true reverse chronilogical order. Please don't change it!
  15. I don't think you can exclude Scotland's caches, as gc.com treats 'United Kingdom' as one country. See Mark & Lynne's Paperless Caching Guide HERE for how to set up the queries. The dates in the guide are old. These are the ones I'm using at the moment (last updated a week or so ago): PQ01: Jan 01 2000 - Aug 06 2002 PQ02: Aug 07 2002 - Apr 12 2003 PQ03: Apr 13 2003 - Sep 12 2003 PQ04: Sep 13 2003 - Feb 19 2004 PQ05: Feb 20 2004 - May 06 2004 PQ06: May 07 2004 - Jul 23 2004 PQ07: Jul 24 2004 - Oct 07 2004 PQ08: Oct 08 2004 - Jan 02 2005 PQ09: Jan 03 2005 - Mar 04 2005 PQ10: Mar 05 2006 - Apr 09 2005 PQ11: Apr 10 2005 - May 13 2005 PQ12: May 14 2005 - Jun 26 2005 PQ13: Jun 27 2005 - Aug 10 2005 PQ14: Aug 11 2005 - Sep 19 2005 PQ15: Sep 20 2005 - Oct 29 2005 PQ16: Oct 30 2005 - Dec 16 2005 PQ17: Dec 17 2005 - Jan 24 2006 PQ18: Jan 25 2006 - Feb 18 2006 PQ19: Feb 19 2006 - Mar 18 2006 PQ20: Mar 19 2006 - Apr 12 2006 PQ21: Apr 13 2006 - Apr 29 2006 PQ22: Apr 30 2006 - May 20 2006 PQ23: May 21 2005 - Jun 11 2006 PQ24: Jun 12 2006 - Jul 08 2006 PQ25: Jul 09 2006 - Jul 30 2006 Run the above queries once a week PQ26: Jul 31 2006 - Dec 31 2009 Run the last query every day to get the most recent caches more quickly. As more UK caches are added, keep an eye on your last query. When it reaches 500 caches, you will need to change the end date and add a new query. As UK caches are archived, each query will return fewer caches, and it may be possible to reduce the number of queries by adjusting the dates of each one. This is a painful process, so I don't recommend doing it often!
  16. My fastest (I think) was a multi, 6 miles away: Published 10:57, found 11:40
  17. It's only visible if they checked the "Show my email address to other users" box on their profile. I can fully understand people wanting to keep their email address private, even when contacting another cacher. How do I know that their PC does not have a virus which will raid their address book and add my address to "spam lists"? I always leave the "I want to send my email address along with this message." checked when contacting another user, and takes the risk, but I use a geocaching-only email address. If it were my "real" private email, or a work email, I'd be more reluctant.
  18. As a general rule, there is no "public land" here - it all belongs to someone. There is a network of Rights Of Way which include footpaths, bridleways, byways and roads (see HERE for definitions) Clicking on the streetmap.co.uk link on the cache page will take you to a 1:50,000 map, on which these rights of ways are marked: Footpath: ---------- Bridleway: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Road used as a path: . _ . _ . _ . _ . Byway: -+-+-+-+-+ (Note: If you use the 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey maps, Rights Of Way are marked in green, not red) Hope that helps
  19. The reviewers need to be able to check each waypoint of a new cache against each waypoint of any existing caches nearby (to check they're not within 0.1 miles). If entered as additional waypoints, I suspect they have tools to check proximity automatically. If not, they would need to trawl through the cache description and reviewer note before checking each waypoint. With maybe 150-200 Multi/Unknown caches submitted per month (in this country), I wouldn't wish this on anyone! An Additional Waypoint cannot be the same as the published cache coordinates. (see THIS THREAD) Edit to add thread link.
  20. Unless it specifically says on the cache page "Do not log the find until you have received a reply to your email": If I was certain I had the right "answer", I would log the cache and send the email at the same time.
  21. I had exactly this problem, in both IE and Firefox, while running Norton Internet Security Ad Blocking. Here's what I did to fix it: Open Norton Internet Security Select "Ad Blocking" then [Configure] Click on [Advanced] [Add Site] and enter www.geocaching.com then [OK] Click [Add], select the "Permit" radio button. In the text box, enter http://www.geocaching.com/gallery/ [OK] [OK] [OK] Minimise Norton, then try again. Hope that helps
  22. Most of your caches are members only. geocacheuk doesn't show members only caches.
  23. I've just tested it.. a 'Discovered it' log does appear on the TB page. I can understand that some cachers don't feel comfortable logging TBs they haven't actually moved, but for those that do, it's a way to retrieve/drop or grab/un-grab, using only one log entry - which is a good thing for those of us who have the TB on our watchlist.
