  1. This just in ...

    1ed489bb-89d3-4d28-b02c-d601a5242232.jpg?rnd=0.8481959

Here's some good news, I spoke with Jodi this week and asked

her to make a pledge to me that if ever, God forbid, I should

lose my sweet-bride Sandy that Jodi would leave John and look

    after me.

She didn't say no! (She did in fact say a few other things that

I didn't quite catch due to my state of euphoria.)

So right away I took Jodi by the arm and went over to John to

fill him in on Jodi's pledge just so he knows and so that

everything will be above-board if and when this admittedly

unlikely sequence of events ever does take place.

Today, as you can see from the above photograph, Jodi and I

took a trial run on the agreement to work out a few minor

details of my backup plan for an adventurous elder-care

program; you know, just in case.

    Pays to look ahead,

    Sweet ol' Harmon

    SD Rowdies

So you have forgotten about the Geo Babe's?

  2. So far I see very little participation from Geocachers. I'm working up

a scheme to make a Geocaching Circle that is both interesting and

rewarding. At the outset I spent a day organizing the Yrium-card

collection so that I could and did share it with an existing Geocaching

Circle. So far BlondHiLites has been the only one to show an interest

in viewing and the Yrium-card image galleries.

You might want to check Facebook. :P

Clearly my remarks failed to explain Google+ Circles as I hoped. Of course people

do bring Facebook expectations into Google+; that is, nothing more than email with

personal and/or family photo albums. They tend to be surprised that Google+ isn't

    just another form of Facebook.

The Circles I speak of are specialized in some discipline wherein participants are

vetted and monitored for their qualifications and contributions. Such Circles include

science, engineering, education, medical, photography, data encryption, astronomy,

robotics, image and video editing, and much more. One is expected to be qualified and

to contribute to the goals and objectives of a given circle; otherwise, one will be

dropped by Circle moderators at the next periodic assessment. Collaboration between

qualified people with goals and objectives in mind, that's the real-deal of Google+.

At seven and seventy I'm thrilled at the opportunity Google+ affords to keep my thoughts

engaged in interesting and even useful discussions and activities. I bought a Nexus 7

Tablet about a month ago and since find myself wide awake at about 3:30 a.m. each and

every night with stylus in hand to engage in subjects of interest until the sun rises.

Side effect is an afternoon nap now and then for the first period in my lifetime. It

reminds me so of my college and engineering days. My body's old but I don't care, 'cause

I don't need no easy chair.

Of course Google+ will erode in time in accordance with the second law of thermodynamics

but hopefully the erosion will be confined to unvetted social Circles that are more suited

    to Facebook.

Bottom line is that there's a need for both Facebook and Google+.

    So it goes ...

    Sweet ol' Harmon

I just made a google + account but don't know how to find you.

M'thinks you missed my point ol' friend.

Was just making sure you were still with us.

    So it goes ....

Nah, I got your point. I was just taking the opportunity for a FB jab at ol' Harmon.

I know, and I always deserve a jab ... gives me a chance to better

explain myself. After all, I've put about ten years into training

my pals to pick on me ... some of them got it right away.

    Love it,

    Poor ol' Harmon

  4. The Clodhopper Saga

It seems that people one holds dearest are more often than not

the hardest to please. Not mentioning any names but when I try

to get on base with Splashette and Jahoadi I'm more often than

not called out at the plate. Woe is me.

Take Splashette for instance, that ol' gal has it in for me from

head to toe. Long ago she started in on my hiking boots by

frequently and publically refering to them as a pair of ugly ol'

    clodhoppers. Woe is me.

Knowing that Splashette would attend the M*A*S*H III event

I decided to stage a comeback in my footwear department by

dressing up my old clodhoppers with the hope of having a rare

word of approval slip through her sweet, tender, rose-bud lips.

    Woe is me.

I hereby submit Exhibit A for consideration, a photo of my old

clodhoppers dressed up in a cutting-edge, manly-man footware

style befitting an L. L. Bean summer-sale catalog. Woe is me.

Splashette took one look at my stylish clodhoppers and screamed

for Jahoadi ... the two of them joined in a fit of laughter and

    knee-slappin' derision.

    Woe is me,

    Poor ol' Harmon

Note to Self: What's so wrong about being a fashion-trend outlier?

I want a pair for turkey hunting, love them there camo.

  5. FYI HARMON

LOST CLAN HIT 10,000 TODAY SO CONGRATS LINDA.

    Thanks pal,

How coincidental ... I was rooting around through my photo

galleries today and came across some shots I took of Linda

and a small herd of The Thirsty Ladies that I encountered

one day while up on Woodbridge Parkway.

There's a couple of shots in that set that really make me

smile. So I get to smile two of my favorite smiles for Linda

    today.

Congratulations Linda, well done and thanks for the smiles.

    I love you too-oo,

    Sweet ol' Harmon

Your welcome I always have your back.

Mery Christmas to you and the Misses.

  6. Yoda ... runnin' wild!

Tank you YODA likes it also.

Wow! ... caught you online it seems.

Was experimenting with a new technique for making photo

frames from textured-surface photos. Had that shot of

the grungy-metal texture and then searched for a fitting

photo to place within the frame. Rooted around in the

photo gallery of your Geocaching profile page and found

a Yoda shot that compliments the frame colors.

I guess that means that I associate you and Yoda with the

word "grungy." Hmm, how do y' feel about that ol' pal?

Note to Self: That would make a terrific Yrium-card layout.

I look forward to your post.

We love that word GRUNGY YODA,

Yea steal hoping to be a Yrium card someday.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

    SEE YOU THERE!

THE SPLASHES & THE GEO OCOTILLO CAMPOUT CREW

Cat and I were out making sure everything was OK at the campout site, and we noticed a suspicious group wandering around. They appeared to be sometimes looking for something and other times hiding something, with no apparent pattern. Perhaps this was just a lost patrol or misguided prostectors , but does anyone else think we should be notifying Homeland Security?

They do look like a motley crew don't they. 000203FA.gif Homeland Security might be a good Idea

So why is Jack standing upwind of the crew?

  10. Let's talk for minute ....... Don't worry about us, we will be OK.

When you show up at his event you will log in to it and will have 1112 .....

Sure, from a guy with well over 4570 caches who would never get excluded from an event, unless he forgot to bring YODA. I'm not sure we will be able to suffer the humiliation of actually signing in at an event we were excluded from.

I didn't get invited either after reading your post I went to Habu's profile and found the page so as you know I will not be there are at the campout so go for me.

  11. Let's talk for minute about excluding people, specifically excluding them from Geocaching Events. We have found HABU to normally be very nice and often friendly, but obviously this was an act, as he has elected to exclude Cat and I from the upcoming "oh thank heaven for eleven, eleven, eleven" event. For those of you who want to quickly jump to his defense, let's look at the facts first.

To quote his event page " If you have more than 5111 cache finds bring….., If you have less than 5111 but more than 1111 finds bring ….If you have less than 1111 finds, bring …"

As our cache count is exactly 1111, it is quiet obvious his intent.

    We don't have "more than 5111", we don't have "more than 1111", and we don't have "less than 1111";

he added these provisions specifically to exclude us from his event due to our pathetic cache count.

We have regarded HABU as a friend, and will not exclude him from the nearby Geo-ocotillo Campout event we help with (Nov 11 – 13) and may even drive by his event to see if anyone shows up, but we fear most cachers will be so offended by his actions as to boycott his event, please don't. In fact we want to encourage everyone to attend both events, have fun and share in the comradary and fellowship with other geocachers. Don't worry about us, we will be OK.

When you show up at his event you will log in to it and will have 1112 so you are good to go buy Chocolate
