  1. Bumping this thread as we are discussing this again with a view to taking it forward and seeing if there is anymore interest. Also adding 3 cumulative total 81.
  2. A bit further away and you would need a boat or plane ride but you could do this one in Northern Ireland GC283N8. Its also in a nice area in Northern Ireland and would make for a nice weekend break in the nearby seaside town of Bangor.
  3. I havent a pic but I have found one that was a pad lock on a chain stuck around an old post with a mag nano stuck in the top with only the screw top of the mag nano showing. very ingenious.
  4. Ok I have been caching for about a year so last winter was my 1st winter caching, me and my wife and 1 year old were heading out for the day and I was told no caching, but there was one cache I had been wanting to get for a while and it was just of the main road we would be traveling along. Winters in Northern Ireland are normally cold but we wouldnt get a great deal of snow but this year we had a few really heavy snow falls and one just so happend on the day I was going for this cache I had been wanting for a while. Some convincing at the start of the jouney and my wife finally renaged and said ok just 1 cache thats it and you better not take all day about it. So we arived at the lane just off the main road it is about 2 miles long to GZ, as I started up the lane I am quite a confident driver even in these condition and everything was fine then the road started to slope up and up and up until it was very steep at this point the wheels started to spin and the car was going nowhere, but wait it then started to move the only problem was it was sliding backward brakes applied no use it kept goin, oh I forgot to mention the lane was quite narrow and to add to the problems we had passed some kids sledging on the way up. Looking behind me the kids were getting closer and closer and just staring at this car heading towards them . All I could do was put my car into a hedge doing some light damage to the rear Not to be beaten by this cache I decided to go back a few weeks later after everything had thawed out, it would be easy this time drive straight up grab the cache and be on my way. Again I headed up the hill and as I came round a bend on the lane there was a rather large puddle. How deep could it be I said to myself and another moment of madness I decided I could make it through it. Well you guessed it, half way through the puddle the car konks out and I'm stranded, had to get out soaked to nearly my knees and push the car out of the puddle. After my 2 attempts at this cache I think I am going to leave finding my nemesis until the dead of summer surley nothing could go wrong then, could it????
  5. Hi All I have been looking lately at a lot of logs from aound my own area and have found a lot of logs that have comments regarding the amount of litter and general waste in the imediate vicinity to some caches in my area. While I dont think this is the CO's responsability to clear these areas around there cache I did think that maybe they should have put a bit more thought into where they placed a cache if the rubish was in existance when the cache was placed. But then as I thought a bit more about it, if every visitor to the cache practiced CITO then would the area not be cleared in no time. Further thought lead me to think that if a potential CO found a good spot where they wanted to place a cache would it not be better if they weren't put off by a lot of rubbish at the cache site as in the long run if everyone who visited the cache practiced CITO the area would be cleared in no time and Geocaching would directly benefit the enviroment. So up for discussion. Do you practice CITO? I know I do sometimes but other times I dont so much. If you identified an interesting area for a cache would excess rubish put you off placing a cache in that area?
  6. I have put a few FTF rewards in some of my caches, I found a seller on Ebay that will make you a customized FTF key ring with the cache name which I thought was a nice touch. There are a couple on ebay but I only found one that was resonably priced.
  7. I'm using C:geo at the min and I'm pleased with it, it gives me everything I need for paperless caching.
