  1. We have recently had to sign in often (when returning to the site) even though we have cookies enabled and "remember me" checked. This is happening on our home computer as well as the droids. I'm not sure if it's something I need to look for on our machine or if it might be a GC.com issue. It's been a recent development. Has anyone else experienced this?
  2. Sorry, I was wrong YET AGAIN!!! No monthly option, I was rushing through a PQ before heading out for the day and thought it was there.
  3. OK so now I see that a monthly option is there...was it always?? If so, I'm a dunce!
  4. I do that, but the way we decide where to go is by looking for nice groupings so that we can spend all day hiking in one or two parks and repeat through the week. By keeping my GSAK databases reasonably current, I can see (on DeLorme) where there might be good places to spend some time. Once we pick a place, then I do a fresh PQ of that area before heading out.
  5. I keep weekly PQs going for my immediate area but try to keep my nearby states (the ones we go to on vacations and long weekends) up to date by running PQs monthly. I haven't yet had a monthly PQ go past the 1000 cache limit...not even close. If that were to happen, I'd take a closer look.
  6. I try to keep up to date with my nearby states but it's not neccessary to run the PQ weekly for this, monthly is plenty. I do it manually now but an option when creating the PQ would be nice. It would also reduce the load on the servers if others are running them weekly for no reason.
  7. I often find my avatar where it doesn't belong. Sometimes on other peoples logs and sometimes in the cache page graphics. I't's not terribly bothersome except for the fact that something is going wrong so who knows what else it might affect. It shows up blurry too which makes it look really odd.
  8. Thanks everyone, it's nice to know that we're not alone. It's not really that bothersome, I was just concerned that my computer might be whacking out.
  9. This started happening to me recently and it's got me confused. Sometimes, when I open a cache page, my avatar will appear at the head of someone else's log where theirs should be. Even more recently, it sometimes appears in place of the picture in the cache page description. I'm not sure if it's something to look into my computer about, or the GC website, but it's a little spooky.
  10. Yep. It's more for if you want your PQ's to go to a different address, eg your phone. Depending on your service provider/email app, you may be better off setting up forwarding on any emails with "[GEO] " to your wife's email. That sounds like a viable solution, thanks Bear and Ragged.
  11. I recently added my wifes email address as a secondary but she's not getting any geo emails. Do I need to enable something, or is the secondary just a backup and if that's the case, when would it come into play?
  12. Yeah, that's what I meant when I said "date range selector" I don't think there's a way to be guaranteed to get all new caches that way. You can extend the date range significantly into the past, which will get you a lot of duplicates and may still miss a few odd ones. EDIT: Oh, I didn't even see the "placed during the last ..." option. Makes more sense now. Doesn't solve anything though, even if you select "placed during the last year", there may still be some that are left out. There's no way to filter for publish date. Yeh, what I do now is center a specific PQ on the area that I discover some missing caches, but that only works if I notice it.
  13. Actually, there is a "placed during" selection near the bottom of the PQ page. I just select placed during the last week.
  14. In order to keep current, I run a weekly PQ of all caches placed during the last 7 days (within a set distance). I've noticed that there are often several caches totally missing in my GSAK DB and now I know why. A local cacher recently started publishing a huge series but I've been steadily missing a lot of them. The placed dates are well back from the published dates so I never get them. I run a separate PQ of caches updated in the last 7 days, but that still misses some. Of course I can run my PQs without the date parameter, but that wouldn't reach out very far...any ideas? Thanks
  15. I have a Motorola Droid and I've used Geobeagle with success, but that's only if I don't have my Garmin with me. The accuracy was quite good too! Same OS so it should work.

    Asking a lot?

Thanks for that. I do use that method for my near home caches. The real problem comes when planning for a vacation, I try to cover a large area in order to pick our spots. It's a great way to find otherwise obscure parks too....a bunch of caches usually equates to a worthwhile park.

    Asking a lot?

Would it be possible to generate PQs with an entry for minimum distance? In other words, make a PQ from a set of coords which results in 500 caches out to say 20 miles. Now make another PQ starting at 20 miles out resulting in 500 caches from 20 to lets ay 30 miles now start at 30 miles etc. This way it would be possible to cover a pretty sizeable area without having to resort to working up a series of overlapping circles (which is the way I do it now).

    Odd HTML situation

Prime Suspect, I wasn't intending to SPAM multiple forums, I just realized after the first post that it might not be the correct forum for this question. I will sit in the corner for twenty minutes, but thanks again for the info!
  19. The above is your problem. Word generates some of the worst code imaginable. Use a stand-alone HTML editor, like Nvu, or if you use Firefox, install the Xinha Here! add-on. Thanks, I'll try that

    Odd HTML situation

But the changes completely destroy the page by putting breaks in the middle of sentences and removing my align="center" etc, it's just plain wierd. If I type it directly, I can eventually get it to work, but the cut and paste always seems to get messed up...how would there be a difference there??

    Odd HTML situation

Yes, I did check that box.
  22. I've run into this situation several times. I struggle through the HTML anyway so this is a tough situation for me. I write out the cache description in MS Word, then I test it in an online HTML test bench and all is well. Any links I've included all work and the page looks just the way I want (align, color, size etc). I cut and paste that document into the online cache form, it all looks fine..THEN..when I submit the cache (thankfully, with the reviewer box un-checked) and view it, everthing goes all screwy. I go to "edit" and my carefully constructed HTML document has been butchered with <br>s all over the place and odd characters that I've never seen before. I reconstruct the page and after a few tries get it right. Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening??

  24. Ok, I found the solution. I had to run the removal tool in POILoader not one, not two, but three times before the little rascals were gone! Then I created a fresh clean folder to send the POIs to, sent them from there directly to the sd card and all is good.
  25. I've run into a strange problem. A few weeks ago we went to England, I ran the macro on that db and loaded it into the nuvi. Everything was fine there. Now that we're home again, I try to run the macro against a filtered db that contains 8600 caches ( that's the filtered results [i know, I know]). After running the macro, I run POILoader which congratulates me on loading 2724 POIs. Those appear to be the England POIs, I can't get rid of them. I did a master reset several times, removed the sd card and formatted it, deleted all my data...nothing, they're still in there???
