  1. LOL! Someone needs an editor: (Emphasis mine)
  2. I found a package of flares in a cache once. The expiry date was 1995. Usually, I just sign the logbook and skedaddle but I made an exception that day.(Ok, so I don't usually flee in a state of panic, I just like the word.)
  3. "Cottage" makes it sound like an Eastern thing. My in-laws in southern Ontario refer to their lakeside abode as a cottage whereas I call it a cabin.
  4. I'm still confused. Even as a multi, it's only one cache. One logbook, one smilie. Is there a log book at every stage of this cache? Seems to me, all you need to do is find the final stage, sign the logbook and voila! One more smilie for you. I'm thinking you just found one of the stages of the multi; which means no smilie for you. Can you give us the GC waypoint please? Might help me clear up the interpretation of 'cache'. Thanks.
  5. I don't understand what you mean by "the other one". There's only one cache; you either found it or you didn't. However, I'm wondering if you're saying you only found one stage of the multi and not the actual cache? If you found the cache (not just a stage) and signed the log book I think that's a find.
  6. Maybe it's time for the owner to do a maintanence trip and verify the coordinates?
  7. Cool. Someone should ask Groundspeak to add the old logs to the new page.
  8. OK, I have around 200 finds and out of the 57 Caches that I own 19 are real caches which ones should I archive so I have around 10. And should I cancel the next ones I have on the drawing board? As CR said its an inspiration to hide them. Just don't hide to make it a numbers game. Some are hiders and some are finders. I don't see where he's suggested you archive any caches. Unless I missed something. I say hide as many as you can maintain.
  9. You may be confusing placement of the cache with listing of the cache. I believe the theory is that the cache was posted on usenet in 2000 and on gc.com in 2001. Hence the discrepancy with the placement date and the waypoint.
  10. Yes, that's very strange. Might be related to the hider not joining the site until June of 2001? Would GCBBB be the waypoint assigned immediately after GCBBA? Just curious.
  11. Email the contact address and ask them if they can merge the 2 names together.
  12. Thank you for mentioning this. As it turns out; that was pretty much the problem. PQ received and happily resting on my desktop.
  13. I've searched for the answer but the number of returns to my search query was overwhelming so I thought it'd be quicker to just ask the question. Please forgive me if this violates some forum protocol. I think I've run a PQ. I was able to preview the results so I know it was generating something. On my PQ page it has a line through the "New Query" and under "Last Generated (PST)" is has today's date and a time of 7:42 am. Now, I'm just wondering what I did wrong to prevent a copy from being emailed to me? I managed to get a PQ emailed to me about a week ago so I know I can do it.
  14. Some people. Funniest (saddest?) part is, the cache is temporarily disabled because the coordinates might be off.
  15. I don't think they're "afraid"; they seem to have adopted a business model that respects individuals privacies and their advertisers privacies. There's is nothing wrong with that whatsoever. I'm surprised they even bother providing forums for their customers; any issues could just as easily be dealt with via email. A lot less angst that way too. If you believe they have little respect for their customers you can always stop sending them money. I believe there is another listing site out there that will take your 30 bucks.
  16. Life's too short and time's too precious to waste either one telling someone else how to play our harmless little game. Take a deep breath (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) and move on to the next cache.
  17. The owner can't stop you from signing the physical logbook so any restrictions she puts on when you may log is a moot point. I find that by not logging my finds on the site that I'm able to avoid any potential conflict. I don't agree that any subset of cachers should be excluded.
  18. I don't really see any "taking a swipe" at the media here. Care to explain? Although you don't have all that much geocaching experience, I'd be interested in your reason for a comment like that? The "NICE JOB IDIOT" is a pretty good swipe in my opinion. However, it's possible that the swipe was at the unnamed individual who first contacted the media and not the media itself; it's not that clear in BQ's post. Perhaps we should refrain from any name calling, especially in a forum that might be read by the people we are trying to win over.
  19. I wish that the One Year Evaluation would have been observed by both parties. Seems that both the individual from NL as well as the Rep from Parks Canada has decided to abandon the One Year Public Feedback that was originally agreed upon. I don't know who felt it was necessary to go to the Media, and ruin the hard work that numerous people have devoted a great deal of time and invested their own personal money to try to prevent.... now we might never get Parks Canada to talk again! NICE JOB IDIOT! I cannot write anymore.... I am too angry BQ Just my 2 cents here but, I don't think taking a swipe at the Media and accusing Parks Canada of ignoring the facts is any way to advance the cause.
  20. Maybe it's just the water up here but having been on bed rest for the past couple of months I've spent a lot of time reading some of the local caching sites (I'll spare you the gory details like the names) and reading a lot of the logs for the caches on my to-do list and, quite frankly, I'm too scared to meet any of the local cachers. Some of these people just ain't right and a lot of them are just plain mean.
  21. You may be mad but you are correct. Not only is this a bad thing, but I wonder if there's a bylaw prohibiting the spraying of pesticides in a public park without a licence? Put an SBA on the cache. Geez, there's bugs in and around our trees; who woulda thunk it?
  22. If I remember correctly, that was one of the big issues with virtual caches; maintanence may be required at some point, eg, a sign is changed or removed. Just seems odd to me to approve a cache like this. Not that that detracts from the cache; if the owner had made it mandatory that an indivual complete the cache without help this could be a wicked idea.
  23. Isn't this like a big ole pseudo-vacation cache? How on earth does the owner plan to do maintanance? Just curious, I'm not fanatical enough to post an SBA.
  24. For those caches that don't qualify for listing here, why not post the coordinates on another site (eg, the bc geocachers site) and let people log an old archived cache here so they get the smiley we all crave so much?
