  1. A month ago when I started all this I set up a daily pocket query for the area I live in. I set it so it would find caches that I hadn't found. I just now noticed as I download this to my computer, I no longer have the caches in my gps that I have already found. My wife borrowed my gps to take some friends to a cache that I had already found and she couldn't find it. My question is this, how do I set up a query that will download both caches that Ihave found and not found? I tried checking both boxes and it came back with no caches at all in the query.
  2. I placed a navigation kit and the 60cs into check out. The navigation kit says it will be shipping from J&R Music but the gps doesn't say anything.
  3. Checked it today and Amazon has the 60cs for $399.94. I am not sure I can trust a business that raises and lowers their prices daily.
  4. I have been geocaching and want to start finding some benchmarks. I found a link to the NGS datasheet by county. I went in and found my state and county and told it to search for benchmarks by gps. I figured I would start here before I started trying to find them with just the description. There is a lot of info that I can't decipher. First I can't find the gps coordinates. Then I got to looking at the descriptions and it would give me a number and then the letter m. Is this miles or meters? I just need help understanding all this info. By the way, anybody wanting to know what I am looking at, I plugged in TN and Greene County. Thanks.
  5. Just passing through. I only live about an our from Knoxville. I will hit it this summer while I am off. It's good to be a teacher. I am headed to Nashville, the home of lame caches.
  6. I am planning a trip next month and have all the caches in a 10 mile radius of my hotel already downloaded. Here is my question, I want to hit any close caches as I travel. How do I find these? I will be traveling from Greeneville, TN to Nashville, TN. It is about a 4 hour trip and it would be nice to stop at any real close (rest stops, etc.) Along the route.(I-40) How do I search this out? Thanks.
  7. I am running Metroguide on my Legend and have my local area in the unit. I was wondering what happens when I leave the area that I have downloaded into my Legend? I assume the gps still works, but there will be no map. I live in upper east TN and have this area downloaded. I am planning a trip to Nashville in about a month and plan on downloading this map area and all the caches in the area. I already checked and within a 10 mile radius of my hotel, there are over 500 caches. I was just wondering what I will see until I get to the area I have downloaded? If I have some caches near the road downloaded but not in the map area, will I see those or am I out of luck? Thanks.
  8. My local Wally World doesn't have one and the Wally World in the next town over wants $499.
  9. What scares me is you know that address to that clinic.
  10. Stupid me. I went to Amazon last week and stuck a 60cs in the shopping cart but didn't order it. Got to work this morning and went to order it and it had gone from $370 up to $450. Ouch. Should have ordered it last week. Anybody else know of any good prices?
  11. A question before I buy my 60cs. I just loaded Metroguide into my Legend and have been playing with the map. To get the smaller streets to appear, I must be zoomed way in. When I do this, of course, I can't see much around me. Is there a way to zoom in and out quickly with the 60cs where I can see the smaller road and still see the "big" picture? Zooming in and out by hand is a problem while driving. I hope this question makes sense.
  12. Long live Donnell. Us fat people have rights too.
  13. When you say beta, what exactly do you mean? I am ordering one of these tomorrow and want to know if I need to update when I get it.
  14. I was in the middle of a giant briar patch yesterday and backing up and walking forward again just wasn't an option. I really don't care to know what direstion I am going. I just want to be able to stand still and it still point me to the cache. I am ordering a 60cs tonight when I get home from selling a rifle. I can't wait for the new toy. Thanks for all the comments.
  15. I have had a Legend for a little over a month and I am ordering a 60cs. I just decided that I wanted autorouting and an electronic compass. Just today I was in the middle of a briar thiicket trying to walk around to get the arrow to point in the right direction. Would be nice to be able to just stand there. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Thanks for the answers. I hate getting close and having to back up and walk briskly forward again to get the pointer to help find the cache. I also think I will like the auto routing of the 60cs. You can't have too many toys anyways. I told my wife she can use the Legend so she is happy also. Thanks again.
  17. I have a Legend and when I get close and stop walking, the pointer gets squirrely. I know I am suppose to keep walking. Will a unit with the electronic compass like the 60cs keep this from happening when I stop walking? I am not sure I understand the compass feature. Can somebody put this into language an idiot can understand. Thanks.
  18. I am looking at getting one of these but I wonder about satellite reception. If you have it tilted up to read it while you drive, can you still get decent reception? Just wondering before I ordered one.
  19. I need links to places that custom make these. Thanks.
  20. How much of TN can be located into a Legend? If I start in upper east TN and start west, how much of the state will fit?
  21. Alright, you people are killing me. I can't order my new one until this one is gone. I am lowering the price to $140.
  22. While visiting my parents over Christmas, I was trying to explain geocaching to my dad. I was explaining how you could also search for benchmarks. I learned a little something about my dad I never knew before. He told me one summer during college, (around 1953-53) he and a buddy spent a summer working for somebody searching for benchmarks. He told me a few funny stories about his adventures. After my telling him about geocaching and his telling me about finding benchmarks, I asked him if he would want to go find a couple of nearby benchmarks where he lives. I thought he would like to do this. His reply was "Why in the world would anybody want to go find these things?" I guess some people just don't understand.
