  1. About the point in time we got Google maps back problems started and as of late have become very bad. At first I could refresh, reload, zoom in and out to get cache icons to load, it didn't happen all the time but often. In the last week, often the map will load but no icons, sometimes a few icons will load - icon box only - clicking sometimes does nothing (no pop up). When I pan to an area 5-10 miles away usually the icons will not pop up. G.C. Maps has been slow to load. These problems have greatly deteriorated in the last 3 days. It's not the same thing every time. A few times recently when submitting a found I've received a pop up saying the page is no longer available - server error. I have these issues using the latest versions of I.E. and Chrome, on 4 machines running XP pro, Vista pro, Ubuntu and Mint - all updates installed. I have more than adequate bandwidth, cpu, ram, etc. Cachyew
  2. I'll be taking a caching road trip soon and I'd like to make it special by visiting the oldest active caches in several states. Does anyone know of a list? or can you cachers help me out by sending the "GCs" to me for the states of: AL, AR, GA, KY, LA, MS, MO, NC, SC, TN, VA, WV. Thanks and Happy Safe caching! Cachyew
  3. I have a decent GPS but it is not paperless, and will not be upgrading it soon. I currently make paper notes of the raitings, size/type, hints. I have a Verizon BB Curve 3G 9330, and it's great for communicating and only bearible for the web if need be and time is not a factor. I'm wondering if there is a way to download/transfer ONLY the raitings, size/type, hints to the BB to act as the paperless part. I don't want all the other features that are built in with the software(s) and shure don't want to wait for a web page to load each time to see the information I'd like.

  5. OldSchool GPS - I bought this in '03 or '04 for bicycle trips and before I knew what a Geocache was. For what it is (frugal caching?) it works fine & in good shape, I have the booklets, Car cable, PC cable (serial), Firmware & Topo disks and a handlebar mount. $25 Can meet near Lake Zurich, Illinios ***Sale is pending as of 7/12*** If you are interested in this item post a reply if it does not sell (give it a few days) I'll offer it to the next in line. I'll remove this ad when sold
  6. I sometimes use an external with my 'CSx, on the car roof reception is improved/faster then when on the dash without it - so yes an improvement this way. Mostly I use the external when biking or hiking with it mounted on a baseball cap. Bike use with the reciever mounted on the handle bar I block less signals than with my body shrouding them - tracks are better. When hiking I like to use a belt clip, thus with the external up top the reciever is not rocking to each step nor blocked by my body. Yes the external does improve overall accuracy - more so in wooded areas, but the cable can be in the way. For Geocaching I just use it plain.
  7. Same? or a new Topic? How many new finds (SL) in one continuous 24hr period without pre-planning before, calls for hints/locations, partners/teams, dog(s), driver, PC, etc. Like this - START CLOCK! by your self, load waypoints in GPS, drive/peddle/run/walk to the finds only by yourself with only one GPSr. The clock keeps running for eats, pottie breaks, etc. Any Honest people out there?
