  1. I've seen many of Mr, Libre's logs before and while I consider them harmless fun, there have been other complaints about his brand of humor. I did delete a few logs on my caches and invited him to relog in a more family friendly manner. We ended up having a short email exchange. He's really not a bad kid at all. One thing I might suggest is to encrypt his logs, or you could do what I did and ask him to change them. He will. One of my favorite "gems" from him was this log. He encrypted that one himself.
  2. This is the guy to ask right here: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/Default....bd-846f28ddcb36
  3. Click "Edit", then "preferences", then "My Coordinate Formats". If you don't see a list, click "Add Format". It's all pretty easy from there.
  4. That may have been a hairball, but I can't give you an official diagnosis with the info provided. Has your GPSr been licking itself near the port?
  5. Pine, in New Jersey. Definitely pine. Whether it's a cedar, yew, hemlock or other evergreen, the CO always says it's a pine. We get that here in eastern Washington as well. It's always a pine tree. It could be a spruce, cedar or pretty much anything, but it's identified as a pine. There was one guy that inadvertently identified an actual pine as a fir, though. It was very obvious that he wasn't from around here.
  6. It all depends on how big of a rock you're talking about. Your local brick mason might be a big help. http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/7397/masonrysaw.jpg
  7. I think this could be a great little feature that just might make it a bit easier for the uninitiated to log their TB retrievals. Of course the tracking number should still be required, but having an option right there on the "found" log page would be as close to fool-proof as you can get. I'm all for it! Edited to clarify the "found" page instead of the cache description page. When logging finds, I almost never reread the cache page unless the lameness factor was so incredibly high that I can't recall which cache it was that I'm logging.
  8. This topic reminded me of a cache I did a while back. Here's my log: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...cf-92a85a18e00c I now have that very golf ball in my collection of geoswag-that-means-something-to-me. Trevor and Kate retrieved the darn thing for me after reading that log.
  9. It could have been anything. The chubby girl ran out of Cheeto's while watching Oprah and decided to go to Walmart for more. She changed out of her bathrobe and into her best spandex pants so she could be presentable to the world. She loaded up the kids, and went on her Cheeto run. She parked way over there because her husband yelled at her about the car ding from last week. She jumped out of the car in a state of delirious Cheeto excitement and ran towards the main doors, but suddenly she remembered that her youngest child was left behind in the improperly secured car seat and the windows were rolled up in the car. She raced back to the car (nearly splitting the crotch in her best spandex pants) and fumbled for the keys to unlock the door. While she did that, her spandex pants finally ripped. Explosively. The cache was knocked out of place by a Cheeto-loving spandex-wearing Walmart-shopping Oprah-watching housewife. I'm sure of it.
  10. Do whatever you like. It is your hide, after all. If it were mine, I would carefully word my hint denial email so as to include a subtle hint. I'm like that.
  11. This is some spiffy news Thank you!
  12. I bought a set of these many years ago, and they have come in handy with several geocaching projects. http://cgi.ebay.com/H87-9-PC-Number-Die-St...93%3A1|294%3A50 Just get some 1/8" thick aluminum tags cut at your local metal shop, and you're good to go. For coordinates, use a small leather punch for the degree symbol and a nail for the decimal.
  13. I have never ventured into any back yards. Yikes! You have got to get over here to Spokane to find some of our caches. Mrs. Chumpo has been a fan for quite some time
  14. Ooh neato! The forums are up again- and fast as ever, too Now I can stop doing constructive things and resume lurking.
  15. You nearly got that email on Saturday. If only it weren't for Watson the delinquent dog.
  16. I really like that. One alteration I would consider is the "tell us about your experience" changed to something that sounds less like of a requirement to visitors. Maybe "Learn about our game"?
  17. Fantastic! Can we get this one into the geocaching lexicon? This thread has been won. Mule Ears gets the prize for best post.
  18. According to my statistics, I have a find in California. Considering that I have never cached any further south than northern Oregon, that particular find baffled me- until I remembered logging this cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...0fe41&log=y It's just a matter of time now. If I keep that found log as is, I could become a global cacher!
  19. Congratulations to the Mongoose Family!!! 100 is an important milestone!
  20. I have a cache hidden in a neat little unknown wooded area here in town. A cacher posted a dnf recently complaining about all of the garbage and how horrible all Spokane caches must be if I were to place a hide in such an awful spot. The funny thing is that the entire area is trash-free. I'm guessing she entered the wrong coordinates. I wonder where she really was?
  21. One of the better Geocaching articles I have read. Congratulation RdR for the huge milestone! My dad (Stilly) lives up in your neck of the woods and I have found several of your hides on my trips over to visit.
  22. The first Illumination by Bikely and Wifely is a great one too. Loren27 also has a couple of night caches as well. His "Journey to the Stars" is the only one I have done so far, but if it is any indication, the other will be a blast also. The most fun I have ever had on a night hunt was on MedicOne's hide "Scotophobia: Fear of the Dark" http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...38691&log=y It's a Terracache turned Geocache that takes you on a tour of the James T. Slavin conservatory, but you won't be able to see much. Bring extra batteries!
  23. Whatever happened to the goats? I miss the goats.
