  1. I have the same problem with juniper bushes. If I can't spot the cache by eyesight before I grab it, I'll just walk away. I can do without the itching/rash for the rest of the day.
  2. I had been hoping that the forums would liven up a bit. Welcome!!! You sound like I did when I first found out what the cool people did for fun.
  3. It certainly does appear to be 4-3-00. I never noticed that before. The video is indeed the real deal, filmed the day after selective availability was turned off on 5-2-00. It must have just been an oversight by Mr. Ulmer. I often mess up dates in logbooks- especially when the month (or year) is new.
  4. I'm surprised that you feel safe enough to post in the same thread as Chumpo the turtle squisher. I know! After I recounted my turtle murder story I noticed that the op is a turtle too. I'm so ashamed
  5. I hit a turtle once. The darn thing darted right out in front of me. In my defense, though, I just plain didn't see it because the setting sun was particularly glarey that day. It was on a stretch of road that goes right between two ponds and judging from all of the stains, I'm not the only one who has hit one. Still, though. A turtle for crying out loud.
  6. This thread has the outcome in it (towards the end of page 1). It is much easier to sift through for actual information about the case than this one is.
  7. Oh, the irony. Isn't there some kind of "law" that says any spelling/grammar flame will include at least one spelling/grammar error? edited to add: Found it! It is, of course, Muphry's Law. On Fark.com we call this phenomenon "rotskying"
  8. Thank you for keeping us informed. It is much appreciated. It looks like you guys can go back to caching without ever having to worry about this guy again. Congratulations for catching him!
  9. I have used that method several times. I also wear an electrician's tool belt for extra (in)visibility on occasion. It is VERY effective.
  10. I have noticed a few common misspellings in logs. "Wonder" is not the same word as "wander", for instance. That's OK, though. I have learned to accept the less intelligent people by remembering one thing: If they were all as smart as me, then I wouldn't be above average anymore. Have you hugged a moron lately?. We need them around.
  11. Yup. It's all over the place now that that number has such significance to us. We just didn't notice it before, I'm sure. I used to have a kid working for me that was constantly running into bad luck through no fault of his own. Almost every week that went by, he would have a new story of woe and misfortune. Poor guy. His employee number with the company was 911 and his birthday was September 11th.
  12. I learned how to be social. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a jerk and all, just a little bit less so now that I know there are others somewhat similar to me. Somewhat.
  13. I have hidden a several caches like that. some under my account and some under my daughter's. They are always "unknown", but in the description I let the seeker know that it is a log only hide. If there's no room for a pen/pencil/crayon/whatever, I'll point that out as well.
  14. I liked your review . In fact, I gave it a thumbs-up. I doubt that I will ever be within 500 miles of Montgomery, Texas, but if I do find myself down there one day and I'm hankerin' for some prime rib, I'll remember your review.
  15. Geocaching hates chilruns. I believe it's spelled "Chinldren".
  16. This is one of those threads that gives my scroll wheel a workout. Blabbity blab blab ect... Until I saw this! How DARE you alter an image of Bruce Campbell! This is unforgivable!!!
  17. I read that as Lurid Themed and couldn't click the topic fast enough. Imagine my disappointment.
  18. I am lucky enough to live in an area that has some very imaginative hides, and I didn't want to just plunk something out there that no one would like. It took over 500 finds before I worked up the nerve to place one myself. It turned out that I had nothing to worry about as the logs have been largely positive for 4 1/2 years now. I don't think your question has a definite answer, though. I have seen cachers with thousands of finds hide the most boring caches imaginable. I have also seen several people who can come up with the most creative hides without a single find under their belt. As far as knowing WTH I'm doing? I still don't.
  19. Way back on a previous page Kayleo, the person who reported Repak, said she would be updating us. His court date is set for today so we should hear something later today. Yes, but unless this thread stays open, where will we find out? We have gone for 15 pages without any news other than "Tuesday". By the time it's all said and judged, we'll be sifting through 50 pages of babble just to find out what happened. Make that 17. My bad.
  20. So, anyway, way back on a previous page I wondered if someone could just simply follow this story for us out-of-towners. Is there someone local who will keep us clued in?
  21. Nope. Apollo 14 (Alan Shepherd's golf outing) was in in February 1971. Apollo 17 (last manned space flight out of low-earth orbit) was December 1972 and visited a different area. It's a safe bet nobody has retreived Shepherd's golf balls or any of the other swag left from any of the Apollo missions. This would be a different category though: Lunar Caching. See post #7 in this thread. Are you sure? I saw that, in 1979, the Jettison Scrap and Salvage company took a spaceship named "Vulture" to the moon and reclaimed some of the equipment left there. Oh, my. I think you just rearranged one of my memory cells. I do remember that. And I had tried so hard to forget
  22. It looks like Dale n Barb can hook you up according to post # 113 over here.
  23. I just did a GIS for belly button jewelry. I stayed just long enough to grab this image: Much of what I saw is going to take a lifetime to try and erase from my memory. I'm off to bleach my eyes now.
