  1. This is still an issue.  I just emailed Groundspeak although they said they'd rather I report this in the forum.  Looks like GS is ignoring this issue in the forum. :(  I find this annoying as I am discovering / maintaining TBs in my TB hotel and my discover is dated BEFORE the TB is paced in the hotel. lol

  2. The List feature was working for me earlier today with VPN on and now is not working.  I haven't updated anything.  Has Groundspeak confirmed there is an issue?  Going to a MEGA this weekend and hoping this is fixed before then.  I turned VPN off and still have issue. Do you have to reboot the iPhone?

  3. I like to get waymarks that I haven't found when traveling. I find it hard to tell sometimes whether I have found a waymark in a category due to the 200 mile limit in the search....

Sorry, but I don't understand the problem. If for example I see a list of waymarks and one of them is in the category "X" and I want to know, if I have ever found a waymark of that category, I click on the category name (below the waymark name). This brings up all the waymarks in this category and then I open the "Search Criteria" and activate the radio button "Waymarks I've Visited". That's quite easy and the 200 mile limit doesn't apply.

If I totally misunderstood your problem, please ignore me. :-)

I didn't realize I could use this option. Thanks for pointing it out.

  4. I created a list a while ago: list of categories thread

It is not up to date, the last two or three lines are missing and sometimes the position of icon do shift a bit, but it can still be a starting point.

"Wavy Places" is on 15S. "Seattle Art and Seek" was intentionally excluded from the grid.

"Yard Art Silhouettes" is a bug, this category was never approved and still appears in some lists, but not on the grid. The appropriate real category for these objects is Silhouette Public Art Sculptures

Thanks!! Is there a reason why Seattle Art and Seek was excluded? I knew a list existed but could not find it in the pinned lists.

  5. I just went through the topics for Waymarking to see if this was addressed and could not locate a topic discussing this. I apologize if this has already been discussed.

I like to get waymarks that I haven't found when traveling. I find it hard to tell sometimes whether I have found a waymark in a category due to the 200 mile limit in the search. I stared an excel spreadsheet noting the Column and Row coordinates and whether I have found one in that category or not. For example, A1 = the category "Blogging".

There are just a few more that I cannot locate on the Waymarking grid and hope someone can tell me where they are on the grid.

    Seattle Art and Seek

    Wavy Places

I'd really like to see the Column and Row listed somewhere on Waymarking.com, possibly on the category page.

Also, in my wandering, I found a non-user category called "Yard Art Silhouettes" without any sub categories. Can someone tell me more about why this one exists?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  6. DougK has a lot of valuable information on his Waymarking statistics site. Go to his profile and then click on his homepage. There is also an alphabetic category list with references to grid row and number.

Thanks! That's what I needed. I keep thinking Waymarking.com should include the grid row and number on their list of category or in the waymark title.

  7. Has anyone made a list of the Grid (A-1, A-2, etc) with the associated categories? Since you can only see 200 miles of a city, if I have forgotten whether I have found a waymark in a specific category, it would be great to have a chart so I can find where on the grid that specific category is and look at my found grid to see if it has been found by me. Hopefully that makes sense.

  8. Was experiencing similar problems as reported yesterday but could still log visits. Today I get:

    An Error Has Occurred

Your request has resulted in an error. You may choose to retry your previous request. Or you may tell us what you were doing when this error occurred:

And it truly does not log the visit and I have to start again.

  9. the"How Do I?" sub-forum would seem like the obvious choice.

Thanks that helps! I think the issue was I did a search on 'pocket query' to see if the answer was already there and the results just showed pocket query. The results should probably append the sub-forum to the front of the list. I think that would help keep the forums clean - especially for people like me who lurk on the forums and rarely post.

Maybe the moderator can delete the last few posts to keep the forum clean?

  10. Not sure this is the correct place for this but here goes...

Every once in a while, I'll create a pocket query, select today as the day to run and hit submit and nothing happens. When you view the query in the list, it says NEVER ran. Other times, I think I do the exact same thing and the query runs right away. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I know the site is on Pacific time and I'm not running this anytime near midnight so it should not be the wrong day of he week. It's very frustrating.

  11. Thanks chenks. Obviously if I knew the correct sub-forum, I would ask it there. Can you give me a hint? ;) The title at the top of this says "Pocket Queries" NOT "intro" geocaching app - maybe that should be corrected? I apologize, I'm not a huge forum user so I don't know all the hidey holes for questions.

I am recruiting members to make this a new category.

From 1908–1940, Sears, Roebuck and Co. sold about 70,000 - 75,000 homes through their mail-order Modern Homes program. Over that time Sears designed 447 different housing styles, from the elaborate multistory Ivanhoe, with its elegant French doors and art glass windows, to the simpler Goldenrod, which served as a quaint, three-room and no-bath cottage for summer vacationers. (An outhouse could be purchased separately for Goldenrod and similar cottage dwellers.) Customers could choose a house to suit their individual tastes and budgets.

What is a Sears house? Sears homes were 12,000-piece kit houses, and each kit came with a a 75-page instruction book. Sears promised that “a man of average abilities” could have it assembled in 90 days. The instruction book offered this somber warning: “Do not take anyone’s advice on how this house should be assembled.” The framing members were marked with a letter and a three-digit-number to facilitate construction. Today, these marks can help authenticate that a house is a kit home.

  14. Come on Groundspeak!!! This has been going on for months!!! Have they even acknowledged there is an issue or don't they read forums? It doesn't work in different ways on IE or FireFox. Fix it already!

Yes, they have acknowledged the problem. In this very thread, in fact:here

But no, it hasn't been fixed.

Thanks, Team Sieni!! I actually met Raine at the 2013 LV geocoin show and he seems like a really smart guy. I enjoyed the talk and I have one of his Raine Joker Tags traveling around so I'll cut him some slack. :)

My degree is in computer programing but I have not spent a lot of time in doing this type of programming. I'll be happy to test things but I find it helpful to send print screens etc to an email address so having that would help.

I did some quick tests and here is how I can recreate it. Using IE 10.0.9200.16798

I usually try to find waymarks based on cache locations because the geocaching.com site has the larger map. I pick a geocache in the area I want to waymark. Example:

    http://coord.info/GCX1DH

    Then

    FIND

    ...all nearby waymarks on Waymarking.com

    takes me to:

    http://www.Waymarking.com/wm/search.aspx?f=1&lat=33.480017&lon=-111.932967&t=6

which has the Seattle map and a title of:

    "Search Criteria: All Waymarks Within 100 mile(s) of N 33° 28.801 W 111° 55.978"

if I click on the first entry 'Sphinx Ranch Gourmet Gift Market - Natural/Organic Food Stores' on Waymarking.com, the map is still of Seattle

if I click on the category: 'Natural/Organic Food Stores', the map is still Seattle.

It seems like once this happens, the map of Seattle stays.

if I close all my instances of IE and paste in a URL such as: http://www.Waymarking.com/wm/search.aspx?f=1&lat=33.43267&lon=-111.50156&t=6,'>http://www.Waymarking.com/wm/search.aspx?f=1&lat=33.43267&lon=-111.50156&t=6, I have a 50/50 chance of getting a normal map.

I sort of think this issue might be happening only when I go to Waymarking.com from within geocaching.com. Here is what I tried:

Closed all IE windows, restarted IE and from IE (outside of geocaching.com), went to: http://www.Waymarking.com/wm/search.aspx?f=1&lat=33.43267&lon=-111.50156&t=6

    and correct map showed up.

In same IE session, I opened a new geocaching.com tab and found a waymark as described above from a geocache page and the Seattle map showed up.

    Hope this helps.

  15. Last night I could upload pics. This morning I get the message:

•An error occured in the File Upload Service. The requested service, 'http://bishop.Groundspeak.com:8000/FileService.svc' could not be activated. See the server's diagnostic trace logs for more information.

Who do I report this to?

  16. I have used Bell Transportation before and like them. Also, a group of you can get a limo - that's fun and cheaper than taxi with a group of people.

    http://www.vegas.com/transportation/airport-shuttles/

I was going to suggest the monorail but I see it doesn't go to airport. Surprized.

    http://www.lvmonorail.com/

I have stayed at the Silverton Casino before and they had nice rooms. They are 4-5 miles off strip so you can't get anywhere without a car. However, I see that they offer free shuttle service to airport and 'area sites'.

Here is a list of LV hotels with shuttles (not necessaily free)

  17. Any recommendation for an RV park for those of us that travel that way?

    Thanks

    Jim

    Hi Jim-

Not sure if anyone has responded. I have few suggestions...

Silverton Hotel Casino & RV Resort is on Blue Diamond Road. I stayed at the hotel and that was really, really nice. It is close to the strip (about 3-4 miles) but not on strip. You would have to drive to eat, etc (if not eating at Casino). In nice area and on side of town the event is on.

Circus Circus RV park. I stayed at this park a few times. Very basic. It is on the strip so it is close to everything. But you have to drive down the strip (or another road) to get to the event area. Circus Circus is getting pretty ran down. Not sure the condition of the showers etc. of the RV park.
