  1. Thats doesn't work!!! As you can see by my signature. Oh woe is me... Now what? Close your tags. Look at the BB code page link provided by Prime Suspect. You'll see that every code has an opening and closing tag. Your signature appears to have incomplete tags.
  2. It should be noted that the only source of information for the article is a German auto club. I don't typically turn to the AAA when looking for information on military activities. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  3. Unlikely, and poor journalism at that. Their single source for the article is a German auto club. They also neglect to mention that the signal could be degraded in a localized manner. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  4. Well, that cleared things up. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  5. They didn't show a good exterior shot of the other building, but it appeared to have a large front window as the restaurant did. I think the portrayal of the system was pretty neutral here. They mentioned that sometimes they have routing problems, which I think anyone who has used it before would agree that it does happen. The GPS didn't do anything "magic." The main thing we saw was a track overlayed on a street map. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  6. Did anyone catch CSI last night (Thursday, March 13)? In the main plot, a woman crashed her car into a restaurant. The CSI team used the GPS navigation system in the vehicle to trace her route. There was some brief discussion of the technology. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.

  8. What exactly do you mean by "the time allowed?" The time it takes is going to be determined by the size of the region(s) and the data transfer rate. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  9. Or, you could just go ahead and download it (it's small and free) and decide for yourself. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  10. In conclusion, a free market is good except when it involves other countries. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  11. You cannot load data from both products. When you load a region, it removes all old data. So if you had data from S&D then loaded data from Topo, the S&D info would be overwritten. Make sense? Also, I don't believe there's anything on S&D that you can't find on Topo (could be wrong on this point - I've only used Topo). ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  12. If someone wants to pay, great. If someone doesn't want to pay, great also. What got me irritated was an early post (from someone who has disappeared from the thread, by the way) that, in my mind, said, "you can get it for free and if you pay you're a sucker." That's what I have a problem with. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  13. "We're in a risky business, and we hope if anything happens to us, it will not delay the program. The conquest of space is worth the risk of life." "Our God-given curiosity will force us to go there ourselves because in the final analysis only man can fully evaluate the moon in terms understandable to other men." -Gus Grissom, weeks before the Apollo 1 fire. While Grissom spoke with reference to the moon, I feel that the words still hold true. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.

Challenger exploded 73 seconds after lift off. I'm sure what you heard will become the stuff of many forwarded emails in the coming months, however. Interesting (and sad) coincidences: Apollo 1 pad fire : 27 Jan 1967 Challenger explodes : 28 Jan 1986 Columbia explodes : 1 Feb 2003 *sigh* A very sad day. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  15. I like it! I love shot glasses, and all the fluids they often contain! Just be sure to hide some near me. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  16. quote:From the article:It's a little like trying to find lost keys. You know they're in the house; you just don't know exactly where I think that's a perfect description. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  17. quote:Originally posted by leatherman:The matter is not clear at all. It's quite clear, actually. The land owner's actions - to prevent someone from leaving - is criminal. Sometimes issues are black and white. This is such a case. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  18. You may want to specify which brand and model of each. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.

  20. Geesh! I've only got seven finds and I think it's worth it to pay for a membership. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  21. quote:Originally posted by robertlipe:Go to the map screen and mash menu->map setup-display. Sorry, I'm going to drag this off topic for a second. I'm curious ... is this use of the word "mash" something unique to the American south? The reason I ask is that I used to do tech support for Bellsouth.net (they outsource - tech support is nowhere near the south) and I frequently heard the word used like this. It took me quite a while to figure out what was being said. "Okay, so now I mash the 'OK' button...", etc. To me, 'mash' is much to violent an act to do to electronic equipment or a computer. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  22. Whatever works for you is cool. Some people don't even use a GPSr! ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  23. hehe ... I thought it was funny, anyway. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  24. quote:Originally posted by umc:'I was at my mother in-law' does not sound right to me. What am I missing? I think, "mother-in-law's," the posessive, as you are implicitly referring to her place of residence. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
  25. Funny you should ask ... I'm working on placing my first cache right now. Personally, I'm sick of those huge, bulky, obvious micro caches. Introducing the first nanocache - the only cache that requires an electron microscope to find! Er ... maybe not. Sorry. ----- Memory is a prism through which yesterday's light is passed.
