  1. Yeah, I have a micro attached to a 'dummy' bolt stuck into an existing hole in one of the vertical posts of a park gazebo. They've painted the gazebo at least once since I put it there and now the camo job is quite impressive.
  2. Well that certainly was quick. Must've had it all written up and ready to submit in the event they got the reward. I'm no big fan of virtuals, but I guess I honestly was kind of hoping to get one of these. Ah well...maybe if there's ever a round three...
  3. Well, unless they are sending out in batches, I guess I'm not one of them. ?
  4. Yeah...wasn't sure what forum to put it in. Feel free to move it to a more appropriate place.
  5. Has anyone else received a similar request? My inclination is to say no...
  6. When did this become a thing?
  7. Having personally witnessed the result of a mondou2 pass through my area and how this person left throwdowns on several easy-to-find caches then claimed finds on them...I feel confident that there are high-number cachers that have at least a not-insignificant percentage of questionable finds. I don't know what that percentage might be...but even 0.25% on 186,000 is 4650...more than probably most cachers have total. Even if you are using a higher percentage, though, it would still probably be a ranking in the top five. So while I don't feel they are all completely honest, they still can more than likely claim an extraordinarily high number of legitimate finds.
  8. My own personal "rule of thumb": if I can fit a travel bug tag (with something small attached) inside, that would be the tipping point into "small" size. Otherwise it's a micro.
  9. I got this the other day. Maybe they need to add a "report message" function.
  10. How many times have you worn a shirt? I mean, I don't think any of the photos you've posted involve a shirt of any sort.
  11. Well, it's currently the only real metric they have to go by.
  12. And here I thought every living being in Australia was out to painfully murder me
  13. So basically a traditional with a rubber stamp, with an option to add completely unnecessary written directions. Got it. Pretty pointless...but whatever.
  14. Same here. I've never created one, but how does this work when submitting one? Is it like a mystery with the final coordinates hidden and the posted coordinates being where one starts or are the posted coordinates supposed to be the actual cache and the directions to the cache are just basically unnecessary instructions?
  15. Guess I don't really know the process...but I was under the impression that ECs were vetted prior to publication by folks who were well-versed in the subject matter.
  16. I just don't find Earthcaches all that interesting or fun to do. If I take an interest in the subject matter, I don't want to read about it on a cache page. I'd rather read the on-site information boards/signs/pamphlets, etc. Not a fan of virtuals in general, but I find earthcaches the more tedious of the two types (between ECs and standard Virtuals).
  17. For someone even a fraction as impatient as myself: absolutely not. Add in heat, mosquitoes, weather of any sort , muggles: 100% not. I once found inside a cache one of those puzzle cubes where you have to get the ball bearing inside a plexiglass maze cube to reach the end in order to open the container (which is where the log sheet was). It was summer in the woods in Georgia and I've never been so irritated and frustrated and sweaty and itchy as I was when I finally got the darn thing open. I was practically on the verge of smashing the darn thing against a rock (well, not really...but I fantasized about it). When I was putting it back together, I just closed the lid and shook it up without confirming whether the ball bearing was outside of the "finish zone". I just wanted out of that place fast. So basically if I knew what was in store for finding that cache, I'd probably take a hard pass. So you'll either get a tiny number of finders or lots of finds where you have to rest the whole thing and maybe even replace the puzzle entirely for it being busted up by frustrated cachers.
  18. If you ever visit Project GC, they have a feature that will show this information. https://project-gc.com/Maps/MapMatrix
  19. Honestly, I wouldn't mind hearing from GS on how they view invisible log entries. Not to say you are in any way handling this thing with anything approaching grace or dignity, but it would be nice to see if they regard such childish antics as running against the spirit of the game.
  20. Sounds like an NA is in order, with a description of everything that is still an ongoing issue with no maintenance.
  21. @Korsgat I agree. I think if I was in school and turned in a writing assignment that was somehow typed using UV ink, I ought to expect the teacher to reject it without needing to explain why. It's a silly, childish thing to do. Maybe I could try to argue to the teacher that I wrote the paper as asked, that he never said I could NOT use UV ink and that all he needs to do is hold it under UV light. But how do you really think that will turn out? But you really, you knew all along it would be an issue, yet you chose to do it. I'm not even the type of person who goes out to confirm signatures...but even I would find it incredibly annoying and juvenile for someone to be doing that on any of my own caches.
  22. I honestly can't remember what started me geocaching. Apparently I created my account in 2010, but I have no memory of how I heard of it or even of coming to the site. I think eventually in 2012 I was on the Google Play store and the c:geo app showed up as a recommendation. Now, I know I'm not supposed to talk about that, but in all fairness, it's THAT app that got me into geocaching. So I was on a lunch break, sitting in a Chipotle and I downloaded the app, figured out how to log in to the account I'd created...and when I opened it up I saw that there was a marker pointing to a spot only about 200 from where I was sitting right then. When I finished my lunch, I walked over and looked around for a bit and actually managed to find a very well concealed cache. That hooked me.
  23. For me it's perfectly acceptable. On ANY of my caches, if it's a choice between signing in bodily fluids and snapping a photo...I'll take the latter every single time. It's my prerogative.
