  1. We got the same message since we have(/had) three caches in Palmer Park. ...so let me guess, the Parks Department realizes that it places trash containers with safe contents but since someone may tamper with them and cause harm to another person they will be removing the trash containers as well? This is a fine example of short-sighted bureaucrats mucking with a good thing. This city has a stake in attracting tourism but dreams up this foole nonsense to offend a segment of the people who would come to Colorado Springs as visitors just because we have(/had) a fine collection of them in scenic and challenging park locations. I hope to see combination locks on all the park trash cans very soon so that nothing anyone deposits can cause harm to another. Get real CS Parks!
  2. One of the side issues expressed concerning virtual caches is the concept of "score". Given we Americans are a competitive lot and it makes a game a game, virtuals MUST be played to stay in the game. I am happy to see that truly frivolous ones are deep sixed. Now on to a further consideration on scoring finds: How does the geocaching community feel about the same score for an easy traditional vs a multi-cache that takes days of research and involves more than 5 or six multi-cache waypoints? If you have to find 5 multi-caches to log a find, shouldn't that add 5 to your find count? Just looking for opinions. We're having too much fun to get bogged down with politics or technicalities! ...Gil&Ani Colorado Springs, CO
  3. Just read Crusso's cache and did the translation of "Gil&Ani" (44 52.64). Looks like it's not far from Old Faithful. Would you be interested in sending us a photo of that latitude at a longitude of your choice? Thanks! ...Gil&Ani (ve6gil@bigfoot.com) Colorado Springs, Colo. quote:Originally posted by essay: Having logged crusso's "where's in a name" cache both as a coordinate-generator and as a photographer, I really like this idea. Seeing snapshots of different countries has been interesting, and trying to find something in SE Idaho that would be interesting to someone from the Netherlands was fun, too (some local white tailed deer obligingly showed up as I was driving to the coords). But, is there a way to find out the coordinates of the next spot to photograph if you haven't already been there? How would you know the cache was in your area -- the coords would change and then just show up in your zip code search, right? The cache "watch" feature would allow you to track its progress around the country, once you found the cache page to begin with. And since I am no model of patience, please start the cache either at Old Faithful in Yellowstone or at Craters of the Moon in Idaho so I don't have to wait long to log it : )
