I like the idea of doing an event at the trash site to help clean up the area. I live in a small town in maine and here what happens is that the transfer stations make it so hard to dump anything that for the people that dont care it is easier to dump it in the woods. Here it is 2 dollars to dump one tire but dumping them in the woods is free. Sick train thought but for some it works. Then those who pick that stuff up then have to pay the money. In maine it doesn't pay to keep the woods clean. I wish it was different but the state created this monster.
I picked up a tv and small fridge in the woods one time and it cost me seven dollars to get rid of them, 2 dollars for the tires and five dollars for the white goods. And we can only make one trip a week to the dump. We have an abundance of woods and dirt roads here and for some that makes for free disposal, oh btw they also charge us 10 dollars a year for a dump sticker
