  1. I commend you for battling to take them out or not to. There are people paid a very large salary to deal with such situation. Don't ever touch Sharps that aren't yours. Do you want to spend the rest of your life wishing you should have left it there when you end up with a disease. Call the autorities and let them worry about it. Someone should relocate the cache.
  2. I like the idea of doing an event at the trash site to help clean up the area. I live in a small town in maine and here what happens is that the transfer stations make it so hard to dump anything that for the people that dont care it is easier to dump it in the woods. Here it is 2 dollars to dump one tire but dumping them in the woods is free. Sick train thought but for some it works. Then those who pick that stuff up then have to pay the money. In maine it doesn't pay to keep the woods clean. I wish it was different but the state created this monster. I picked up a tv and small fridge in the woods one time and it cost me seven dollars to get rid of them, 2 dollars for the tires and five dollars for the white goods. And we can only make one trip a week to the dump. We have an abundance of woods and dirt roads here and for some that makes for free disposal, oh btw they also charge us 10 dollars a year for a dump sticker dave1976
  3. I want to take a minute to thank those that offered advice on how to cure the problem with getting GSAK to successfully download waypoints to my computer. Pdops many thanks for the hours of extended effort to a total stranger. The world could use more people willing to help with selflesness. And to Clyde who figured it out. It was as simplt as MSN doesn't not suppoert .loc and .gpx file format. Problem solved again many thanks to all. Dave1976

OK I've done everything and checked the things that have been mentioned. I can get files from my gpsr to GSAK and that all works fine. I go to GC.com click on .gpx file to download waypoint. MSN saves the file as .gpx and it saves with the GSAK icon next to it.(that tells me that it is saved in GSAK format.) I go to GSAK program click open and tells me something like waypoint save:0 I think this should work but it don't. I even unistalled it and reinstalled it and nothing
  5. I agree with Drag- Racer. If you can afford the higher end Garmin 60c or 60cs That maybe your better Choice. I had a garmin etrax and didn't like it a went and talked to my local map store people and they suggested this one. While it's alot of money to shell out you won't be dissapointed. I love the external antenna. I haven't lost reception yet.
  6. This has happened a couple of times to me now and I happen to take offense to this. I live it Maine and am very fortunate to have a vast area of woods to spend time in. I've been geocaching for about a month and a half now and at two of the cache sites there have been cigarette butts laying on the ground. I just want to remind cachers that Cigaretts are litter
  7. Does anyone know if it is possible for a gpsr to get a virus from a downloaded waypoint. I just scanned my computer with norton and it was infected bad. Is Groundspeak secure enough that when i download waypoints that i won't get viruses on my PC
  8. I agree I don't think that I would be interested in searching school grounds for a cache however if I was doing this as a class exercise with my students then it might be different

Last night I tried down loading GSAK to get waypoints from the Geocaching.com site to my computer. This should be very easy but I'm not getting anywhere. The file that I downloaded shows up in a folder on my computer but when I double click on it the GSAK program opens and then I get a Open GPX/LOC page and click ok then I get a box that says Total Waypoints Processed 0 and added 0 and the updated 0 When I click ok GSAK open and there is nothing there Dave 1976
  10. If any one can tell me why i can't download a waypoint from Geocaching.com to my garmin 60 c it would be a great help. I'm a premium member and i have downloaded the software that they told me to and when i download the waypoint it shows up on my desktop in notepad form. HEEEELP. Dave1976
