Don't reset your unit yet.
During my first software update I didn't wait long enough for files to be uninstalled/ installed and I got the "software missing" message. Plug your 60cs into the computer, turn it on and look for the file Updater.exe in the Garmin folder. Open Updater.exe and in the dialog box set your connection option. Now the hard part is to wait for two or three minutes until files are uninstalled and new files installed.
Hope this helps!
With the Gilsson antenna on my 76cs, I get a faster lock on satellites and more satellites acquired. In addition, I normally get a lock on the two available WAAS satellites here in California.
I just wish I could get away from work to search for caches.
There should be no concern about button placement on the 76cs/76c. The buttons above the screen are a natural for a one handed operation- your thumb works the buttons.
I agree with Klatch on the fit and quality of the Gilsson case- it's good, I like mine. In addition, I think a PDA screen protector, cut to fit, is a must to keep the screen scratch free.
TEAM SIDEWINDER- the Gilsson case will not affect satellite reception at all. I use my 76cs with the Gilsson case on and I have no problem with satellite reception. Finding my first cache- that's a different story.
As you will be using a RAM mount, you may be slipping the Gilsson case on and off and that could become APITA.
TahoeKramer, it does really depend on what you want.
Today I purchased a 60cs at Amazon.com for $382.94 -no tax and free shipping to CA. In addition, I will be receiving a $30 gift certificate from Amazon.com as part of their "Electronics " promotion. The only downside is the free shipping will take ten days but I will download the manual and read the 60cs threads.
I have rubbed small scratches out with toothpaste followed by a application of Armor All Original on my PDA and Laptop with good results. Rub the scratch or swirls lightly with toothpaste on a cotton ball, clean and then apply Armor All to a cotton ball and spread a very thin, light coat on the screen. Buff the screen lightly with clean cotton balls when the Armor All is dry. Do not get the Armor All into the edges between the case and the screen!
PDA screen protectors do work.
