  1. I must say, I do travel with an extra container most of the time but not for the purpose of replacing someone else's. I merely travel with it in case I find a good place to hide it, which I'm too nervous to do, especially after reading about terrible cache hides. I hid 3 in my hometown as a noob and I admit they aren't the greatest. One was in an absolutely horrendous spot! I'm thankful for the cachers who alerted me to when it went missing from a flood and when the 2nd container was drenched inside. My caches are like my babies and I feel responsible to keep them clean and happy. If only everyone felt that way.
  2. I enjoy using my smartphone for the convience of not downloading caches to my GPS, especially when I wander out of the area I thought I would be caching in. I shy away from multis because of that missing feature. I also have a Droid.
  3. Personally, I'm a newer cacher and that's why I enjoy geocaching. I don't really care to find the easy ones hidden in parking lots, etc. I go to see the beauty of the world. I've been taken to some really lovely places I would not have found on my own, even in my own backyard! Going to the peaks of these mountains would certainly be a challenge I would take on! Do it!
  4. I am originally from Greenville, PA but had to recently move to Michigan for a job I consider myself a part time resident too (haha!) since we come back to visit every couple of weeks. I prefer geocaching in PA over Michigan...but I might just be biased
  5. Once you give it a chance to pull down the satellite almanac (give it a bit out in the open to collect some satellite signals), the unit should set itself from that data. Excellent!! Thank you! We live on the bottom floor of our apartment building so we haven't been able to get a signal down here and that crossed our minds. Now we know what to do and I won't go crazy all night!!
  6. I feel kind of silly asking this but we just received our new Oregon 450 the other day. I played with it briefly and found the date and time are WAY off. I have worked on it again for another hour tonight and I still cannot figure it out! I would think this is something simple but I am stumped. Any suggestions?

  8. Thanks for all the tips so far!! I definitely will look for a store that I can look and feel the different models. I am so glad you posted that website, jopasm! I wondered if the 450T was really worth the extra money over the 450. Now I know it's not really. I don't know about using it for hiking/biking at this point. I would love to and I am sure we will use it for that purpose sometime in the future but right now I want it specifically for geocaching. Is there something best for hiking/biking/geocaching? As for storing caches, I can't imagine having more than 2000 on there at a time! I have to read more about Wherigo because I don't understand it yet and that may be the deciding factor. But really, thank you all so much for the help!! I really do appreciate it
  9. I am rather new to the game but I am already obsessed with it! My boyfriend and I went and found our first cache last night with a Garmin Nuvi 200. It did the job but obviously wasn't as good as a hiking one. I have been reading posts and web articles and comparing everything and I think I have decided that once I am fully committed that I would like to buy a Garmin Oregon. Before I put down the money I want to find more caches to make sure I 100% love it but I would also like to get some thoughts from experienced users which Oregon to buy. (There are so many!) Or is there another Garmin that is better? Going paperless is a major factor in my decision.
  10. Yellowstoned, I am also interested if for some reason kingman109 decides he doesn't want it.
