  1. Go to the travel bug page, look at your log. On the far right side there should be a button that says "visit log". Click on this. On this page there will be a large title "Travel Bug Log, and underneath there will be two buttons; "edit log" and "delete log". Press the "delete log" button to delete your log. Is this fool-proof enough?
  2. Want to hide a cache near my house?
  3. What time of day were you there. If, for example, you were searching on a lunch break, the fact that the bench might be in use around lunch time might be useful information to someone else considering looking for that cache. Since you intended to search, but conditions that might be the same for others looking for it prevented you from completing the search, I'd log it as a DNF. It doesn't really matter whether it's a DNF or a Note. Someone looking at the logs is going to see the log entry either way. Neither type of log counts against you in any way. I was searching around 4:30, and there weren't many people around who weren't in cars. It just so happens that the few people who weren't in cars were in my way!
  4. Yeah, that's what I do too, because it makes sense to me. To the OP : just because it makes sense to me doesn't mean it have to make sense to you (the world would be a much easier place for me if that's the case) so feel free to log in whatever way you feel is meaningful. No need to get too obsessed about it. I think you need a new acronym... The OP is Jumpin' Jack Cache, but the TS (topic starter) is me!
  5. Put little scanners on them, then when he does, communicate with all of them wirelessly to have them all grow little wings and fly off to rescue the poor little TBs and put them in a nice little TB hotel with 14 nice little TB 1 bedroom suites, each with little TB bathrooms. note: this is an attempt at humour, not to be taken literally.
  6. What if you fall out of a Stupid Tree in the forest, it knocks you out and there's nobody around to hear it - does it make a Stupid sound? OK .. this is getting silly. On Sunday I was in a Redwood forest with an occasional wind knocking the branches of trees together, which sounded like thunder. As I turned to see where the sound was coming from, I watched a branch about 12 feet in length and likely 30+ lbs drop from about 50 ft and spear the ground near the trail I had been walking down. Just a soft sound as the branch punctured the duff to about 2 feet. Gads. Well, all those branches on the forest floor didn't just start out there. Not likely I'm going to hide a cache up a tree. ahhh, i love these forums! +1
  7. We've got to teach these new geocachers that not every cache is a park-and-grab...
  8. It would be cheaper to buy the topo maps sold on Garmin's website for all of canada then to buy 1 province from them. Also they only have 2 provinces out at the moment.
  9. and it's don't not dont, I not i... Really, this guy needs to take some basic grammar lessons, or at least get an internet browser with spell check! also, I found it kind of odd that he kept essentially saying "sorry for the hostility, but **** you! I've never had more than one TB at once, but then again I've always dropped them off in the first appropriate cache, not look for ones that "are deemed to be even potentially muggle dangerous" (this doesn't include the TB I own, which I haven't set out yet because I haven't decided what the best goal for it to have would be.
  10. May I suggest you try and put this one to use: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/subtlety
  11. Just to prove myself a grammar freak, let me quote the "requirements/guidelines", and please note the use of the backslash in the title to indicate the lack of decision, it says guidelines.. Here it goes, "Cache containers and physical stages should generally be separated by a minimum of 0.1 miles (528 feet or 161 m). Note the use of the words "should be generally separated". I added the bold font because I am fussy. And the word "generally" can also be used to mean that in some cases in might be appropriate for the caches to be separated by MORE than 0.1 miles. I just want to point out: "Cache containers and physical stages should generally be separated by a minimum of 0.1 miles" This means that they should be 0.1+ miles apart, but there are exceptions.
  12. you have three options: 1. check your spam filter 2. forget about it, it's not worth it unless you're only in it for the numbers (or you use the "exclude my finds" option in your PQs) 3. if it's not in the spam filter, something may have gone wrong, and you should re-send it. start at the top of the list. If number 1 doesn't work for you try number 2, and if number two doesn't work for you try number 3, and if number three doesn't work for you then repeat step 2 an infinite amount. His spam filter works just fine. Should they check their spam filter? I meant check your spam folder, because GSP is a company, and merely because of that I can see them being thought of as spam.
  13. sorry, others posted so I thought it was only me who couldn't see my first post. I was just asking if I should log as DNF or note if my GPS pointed me to a bench where the cache is supposedly hidden under and there were people sitting on it so I decided not to get it.
  14. I tried Ibycus again, and now my only problem is that my GPS needs 2.5GB more memory (maybe I should have watched the videos first...)
  15. OK, it just seemed that since I didn't really look it wasn't a DNF. To me DNF mean it's either a hard cache, or it's missing, not somebody was nearby.
  16. I am not an amateur just because I don't have stars at the bottom of my post! note: This is because by using *** I imply that this is the third note, and by using * I imply that there must be an extra * hidden somewhere in the post that links to this bottom note, to avoid such conflicts, I use the word "note" followed by a colon (the little ":" sign, not the organ)
  17. People definitely hide graveyard caches. I DNF'd one a few days ago... I searched the series name but couldn't figure out which of the 40 it was so I left it at that. Wish I could've logged the DNF to let people know there's a chance it was missing...
  18. I used the second link (although it was from a previous topic) and I never needed any more maps. Still wanted topo maps, but I guess you can't get everything to work on a computer... The link I posted earlier is for Topo Maps of Canada..... and neither of them worked on my computer
  19. I'd intended my reply as a sarcastic reply, did it not come off as one? It didn't, but now that you explain it as such then yes, it works out fine, no worries ah! no worries... I wish! I just got an E-mail saying I'd entered the wrong coordinates when I'd said in my DNF that I didn't chase the second stage of a multi because it was 26km away... Turns out it was 400m away! And during my summer holidays I'm going to get my first FTF (unless somebody else beats me to it in the next 3 months, though I doubt it because it's been there since august 2009 and no takers...)
  20. Nano is a Spruce tree? Are you kidding me? I can't even find a decon container in a Spruce tree. You may be overlooking the obvious; how about Micro in a Spruce Tree? Then again, nano's are micros. but l'm one of the like 5 people in the whole world who know that. There are only 5 people who know that? I've been to 3 nano caches listed as micros, and I know that they're micros, so include you and that's 5!
  21. You MAY get some deleted logs by doing that. Probably 19, if you have an equally unfair cache owner, then 20 I think it was a joke... I'd intended my reply as a sarcastic reply, did it not come off as one?
  22. HA! I love it! I'll have to add it to the list! Funny. Of course, if you're going to go that far, you should also list your birthdate as "Published". *sniff* he was too young a curmudgeon to go So, you've got your whole life planned out? Your even planning what year your death'll be? I think you need a life if so!
  23. I hereby revoke my previous comment in favor of this one! Posted expectations are sooo entertaining. Yay. Thank you for my smug superior feeling for the day, but points in your favor for saying please. You even enarned a gift horse to look in the mouth: I've always wanted a horse!
  24. Oregon 450 battery life: With Lithium: 3 hours With NiMH: 16 hours NiMHs are rechargeable as well note: this is in general in my experience. Your experiences may differ
  25. You MAY get some deleted logs by doing that. Probably 19, if you have an equally unfair cache owner, then 20
