  1. I've had a couple of trackables "held hostage" and used to track milage for some else's purposes. It put a sour taste in my mouth. I now put a disclaimer on each trackable page asking people not to log "visited" logs. In addition, when I have a trackable picked up by somebody....I send them a thank you email for picking up my trackable. I ask them to place it in a cache which would help towards it's goal....even if only a few miles. Upon placing the trackable, I send another email to say thanks in helping it on it's journey. I figure it's a nice touch to contact the people who help me out. Maybe it helps to keep the trackables from going missing, too. Just my opinion.
  2. Did they arrive via US Postal Service or another company? Were they in envelopes or a package?
  3. Light side......It was the dead of winter and a nearby muggle saw us searching a tree. He asked us if we were doing a leaf collection. It's only funny because there were no leaves on any of the trees!!!
  4. Dark side.....Came back from geocaching today only to find two ticks crawling on my neck while I sat at the supper table. Wife was none too happy.
  5. My light side is just the fact that we now drive down the street and randomly say the names of nearby caches. Some are quite humorous. Other people in the car often have no clue what the heck we're talking about.
  6. I've found that courtesy goes a long way in keeping your item on track. When someone picks up my trackable, I email them and thank them for picking it up. I'll remind them of it's mission and ask that they give it ANY help....even just a few miles. Next, I email them again and thank them once they've placed it. I will offer that they may want to add it to their watchlist to see if it meets it's goal. I'm still a relative newbie with only 1 year experience, but a lifetime has taught me that courtesy pays. Good luck.
  7. I enjoy the emails. I add them to my watchlist. Then, every time one of them is logged, I get an email about it. You can also pull up your entire watchlist and see where they all are. Really simple. You can do the same for caches that you find. Add it to your watchlist, and every time someone posts a log on it, you'll be notified by email. Heck, it makes the morning and evening email much more enjoyable then deleting spam mailings.
  8. Favorite coin is any one that I've helped move towards its destination Jackalgirl is running the Great Cow Race.
  9. mlrs- Thanks for adopting a coin to my friend mailmanjef. It's his first trackable. Team Triggerfinger
  10. Favorite coin: Gonil Spinning Pig Cow Tag Race: Jackalgirl P.S. I bought 4 Heifer tags to release on our own.
  11. I favor the purple one. It's my favorite color.
  12. I've finally found it......I think so anyway. I'd like an invitation if possible. Thank you kindly.
  13. Tentative day: May 23rd. Actual: May 23rd....11:30 am.
  14. No geocoins in any of the 12 caches found today.
  15. I consider it an accomplishment if I can beat the kids to finding a cache. They are usually on it like bloodhounds.
  16. I actually beat my son and his buddy (two 13 year olds) to 5 of the 8 FTF's.
  17. Happy Easter.....8 FTF's today. Someone hid a dozen plastic eggs as caches. I expect the containers to be changed as they are not very waterproof.
  18. Okay, let me re-word that question.....What is the google contact list? I dont recall entering my address anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help.
  19. How do I know if my address is on the google contact list?
  20. I have also come to learn the importance of gratitude. I email and thank every person who helps move my traveler in the right direction.
  21. I've come to learn the importance of travelers. If I come across a cache and the TB or GC listed in the inventory is not to be found....I'll email the owner of the traveler to advise them.
  22. Proud to say that I've helped to move every geocoin and travel bug that we've come across in caches....even if it's only a few miles.
  23. I won a Spinning Pig coin at a local event in November. I'm racing it against my brother's coin to Alaska. I'm winning. They are both under my dad's family account.
  24. I'll play.....I had a recent coin adoption end up in "First Germany". This is Germany's first geocache. To make it even more interesting, it was in the cache at the exact time that Groundspeak named "First Germany" as cache of the week. Team Triggerfinger
  25. Can I put a friend on the list? I just introduced him to geocaching and he only has a few finds and no trackables. The account name is Mailman Jef. If this is not possible, that's okay. Thanks. Team Triggerfinger
