  1. Not a option for my intended Use. It Needs to be smaller and more portable.
  2. I have a 60csx with NT street maps and a Vista hcx with topo maps They both work well on the trail and for geocaching, But the screen size is small and sometimes difficult to see when driving. My work locations change often Currently I'm finding myself trying to navigate side roads to avoid the I-95 & 495 traffic jams around DC. and the small screen on the handhelds just isn't adequate anymore I have borrowed a nuvi 350 and like it's size and features, But it is no longer listed on Garmin website which makes me wounder were their problems with that model or was it just discontinued for a newer version. The NUVI 550 seems similar to the 350 but it also has the traffic alerts thing Is this worth the extra $$$ or just more useless bells and whistles. which would you choose? Links to Reviews and info on these or other simular models welcome Thanks
  3. I Where can I get a copy of the orignal software that came with my Palm M515? I had 2 Palm m515's I droped & broke one the other day so I got the other one out and want to do a fresh install with only the OEM Palm OS and Cachemate since that's the only thing it will get used for. But I can't find the orignal CD's
  4. OK so our new computer has Vista which will not allow the palm desktop to sync/copy the catchment files to my M-515. I know its A windows Vista compatibility issue with the older palms I have to use a card reader and copy them manually which is fine for me but my Girlfriend is not so good with computers and wants a newer PDA that she can use to do paperless catching. one that she can just point click and the files are loaded to the PDA and ready to go. We both like the cachemate program and would prefer something we could use cachemate on. So what do U recommend?
  5. I have both and like both I have city nav 2008 in the 60 and topo 2008 on the Vista I got the 60 to use for off road driving and geocaching a few years ago and recently got the vista so I could have topo to use for geocaching and hiking having both is great. they both have their advantages and dis advantages the 60 will withstand more of a beating than the vista but the vista is lighter and has better battery life.
  6. After 25 years of concrete construction my knees are not in the best of shape anymore. and from what I hear a walking stick or set of poles may help especially on longer uphill hikes. I am not afraid to spend a little more money for a quality set of poles, I just don't know what to look for what is good and what is bad or who makes Quality ones and who makes the junk ones. Or where to shop for them at. what is a reasonable price, what is way overpriced, or what is just not worth the expense.
  7. My Girlfriend has bin getting into finding Catches that require a long hike through some tougher train. I'm thinking about getting us a walking stick or 2 to carry in my hydration pack So what should I be looking for in a hiking / walking / backpacking staff? Mostly we have taken short 1-2 mile catching/hiking trips in the past, But she wants hike the Crabtree Falls trail in VA which is listed as 4.4 miles with 1360 foot elevation change. while it is supposed to be a well maintained trail a lot of the others we hike are not. So I would like to get something that is useful no matter what the terrain is. Also Can anyone recommend a good backpacking blanket that is both small and lightweight but will also work well to through down on the ground for a pick-nick lunch along the trails?
  8. I had similar problems with my Girlfriend's Legend then with my Vista First a few Question Do You have a Micro SD card installed? If so Have you reformatted the card? Are their any maps on it? We found that on the etrex models the compass worked fine with no card and after the card was formatted and had maps on it But it would not work with the card in and No maps on it. So Try removing the batteries then the card let it sit for a minute then reinstall the batteries only calibrate the compass as instructed above. The unit should now be working just fine, We also encountered the same problem when we tried switching the cards from one unit to the other. we have 4 units nuvi 360 Legend HCx Topo 2008 on a Sandisk 2 gig micro sd card GPSMAP 60 CSx City Nav NT 2008 on a Sandisk 2 gig micro sd card Vista HCx Topo 2008 Sandisk on a 2 gig micro sd card

  13. OK so I need to replace my Palm m515 and Cell Phone So I was thinking about picking up a used Treo 700p (palm OS) to replace my cell phone and was wondering if Cache-mate would work on it? If so what are the pros and cons of using it verses a Palm M515? Is anyone using theirs for this and how do you like it?
  14. Ok so I have heard that i could use the charger for my phone to power the 60csx I have 3 with the right style plug put they have different outputs one house charger is marked output 5.0V - 850mA the other house charger marked output 5.0V - 550mA + my verizon VE Maxx car charger which has no markings on it. which if any is ok/safe for me to use with my 60csx
  15. GSAK HotSync to Cache-Mate works fine on my home Desktop But when on the road (away from home) I would like to use my laptop to download PQ's to GSAK then to My Palm M515 so I can do a little caching when I have down time.
  16. Anyone ever tried to use Palm Desktop HotSync for Windows XP Home on a laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition? I would like to sync my Palm M515 and my Toshiba Laptop running Windows XP Media Center Edition But the palm site said Will it work? Did you have any compatibility problems? Was their any issues or problems? Got any advice before I try it?
  17. OK so I'm new to this stuff I have a Garmin 60CSx w/ City Navigator NT 2008 and have downloaded the Garmin POI Loader The loader is asking for the directory where the Data files can be found. What Data files is it talking about? Where do I get these Data files from?
  18. Can someone explain the difference between the two in terms a newbie will understand ? I am looking to get a road detail map of North America to use on my New GPSMAP 60CSx and am not sure which one would be a better choice for my needs. I plan to use my GPS for Driving Directions, Geo-caching, with a small amount of off road driving/navigating and some hiking. I will look into Topo maps for the off road stuff at a later date my main Question is how do I tell/choose which City Navigator to get?
  19. Where can I get some screen Protectors for my New GPSMAP 60 CSx?
