  1. I would love to see a favorite point addition for logs. I've read some great ones that I would love to give a point to. I love it when I've received an email from the CO thanking me for a great log (or have someone at an event tell me how much they enjoyed reading my log!) Makes the extra effort to tell the story worth it. Actually...it's worth it for me either way. I love to relive some of my best caching experiences through my logs. It's my own geocaching journal. How sad would a journal full of TFTC be?!
  2. I use a red sharpie for signing logs. Adds a little something extra!
  3. Sounds like a great trip. I would highly recommend any cache by goblindust. He has several near Bainbridge Island that are outstanding. Also a big favorite in Portland, DR. Who (GCW6EM).
  4. I really like the new addition of seeing my find count! Thanks.. Now for a glitch (I believe.) When viewing an email with a new cache listing...on the bottom of the email is an option to visit the cache page. When I select that and don't have the geocaching app open, it only takes me to the opening page...the cache does not open. I then go back to the email, click the link once again, and this time the cache page opens. I never had this problem before the update. Also, the app is extremely slow. Opening, pulling up nearby caches, moving between the tabs. What used to be a second or two is now sometimes a minute or two. Doesn't seem enhanced or improved to me. Just a heads up. Keep up the great work! P.S. I would love the option to add a photo to a trackable!
  5. I'm sure this has been discussed and answered...but my attempts at searching the forums for an answer yielded me zip! Kinda like my attempts at finding what I'm looking for. I'm working on some challenges and I need to find a cache that starts with the number 6 or 8. So...is there anyway to search by "user name starts with 6?" Or another one is a cache name that starts with a particular letter or number? I tried searching with a 6, 6*, 6#...some of the placeholders I've seen and used before, but no success. Thanks for any tips, hints or tricks!!
  6. Still working on getting a hotel BUT my cousin, TeamEdcob29, and I have booked the 4pm kayaking tour. Very limited spots (there were only 12 for each time slot.) If you are wanting to kayak you better book now! Can't wait for some water caches.
  7. Has anyone had a successful bid on Priceline for this weekend? I'm up to $67 and still no luck. I'm only dropping to 2 1/2 stars (hoping for a Red Lion!) Interested to hear if anyone has had any luck. Looking forward to this event and caching in an area I've yet to cache in. Also hoping to grab some water caches during the kayaking tour. Does anyone know if that is an option? Would love to hear from previous attenders or anyone in the know. Thanks!
  8. I get mine from Uline.com. They have several locations and I have one close enough for pickup. A carton of 1000 of the 2X3 size was only $14. After tax it works out to around $1.50 per 100. They come in 100 count baggies inside the carton of 1000. I have no problem getting rid of them at that price. I put all my signature items and swag in them. Keeps everything nice and clean. I just bought a carton of the 3X4 size ($16) for larger trade items.
  9. Finally got a winning bid on Priceline: 2 1/2 stars for $49 a night 3 nights (Thurs-Sun) Red Lion in Post Falls Looking forward to another cache machine.
  10. hydnsek---thanks for the help. Will start my research for Priceline. And will add Post Falls to the target area. Not familiar with the area at all, so great advice. Thanks! Now if my caching cousin can get her ducks in a row...I can confirm! Hoping to join the fun. Had a great time at my first cache machine in Long Beach.
  11. Has anyone found a great deal on a hotel? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Pocket queries and favorites!! Pocket queries alone make the price of being a Premium member worth it...IMHO. I also enjoy the favorite votes when caching in unfamiliar areas (on a short time frame.) Nice to find ones that others have deemed special/favorite, for one reason or another.
  13. Try going to settings and make sure you are signed in. Only if you are logged on to geocaching.com will it show you the premium caches on the app.
  14. Yes. Did the Fremont Challenge at the Block Party. Had to enter GPS coordinates for each of the 5 stages. Performed a task at each stage (instead of signing a log), received a small treasure. Felt sorta like geocaching meets Amazing Race!! I loved it!! Would never have found the locations without the GPS coords. I also would definitely participate in the challenge again next year.
  15. I'm fairly new myself. I seldom take anything---do enjoy moving the geocoins and TB's though! I mostly leave some swag and signature items. I have found a couple of things I liked and turned them into travelbugs. I also traded for a matchbox car at the very first cache I found and have that on my dashboard. I like to trade for signature items, but have only found a few. I've also found severals caches with a single decorative button (in a plastic baggie) that I have traded for. The first one was a dog bone and my geodog was caching with me that day. I plan on making a photo collage and decorating with the buttons. Will be a great reminder of some of the amazing places geocaching has already taken me!!
  16. I also use the iPhone app and have been wondering how to change the coordinates on a multi or puzzle. Thank you so much!! Love learning something new, and this will be MUCH easier than what I was doing! Not sure I can 'fess up to the craziness that I have been using!! Thanks Chief301!!
  17. OK, I'm a lurker , but I will introduce myself. My name is Debbie. I'm from Washington state in the USA. My Geoname is LayDBugz. This came about from lurking on the forums BEFORE my first find. I stumbled on a thread about signature items, and must confess that I came up with an idea for a signature item and decided to change my user name (can't even remember what my original name was now!?) I found my first cache in January...and I'm hooked!! Have slowly been introducing family members to the obsession, and I'm happy to report I have converted a few!! I have one coin that I adopted from a thread called "Pay It Forward", I think that was it. Anyways, my coin was adopted from Norway, with a goal of reaching me in Washington. Has been fun to watch the progress of my coin move (although it hasn't gone far yet!) I'm trying to NOT get addicted to collecting coins. I will admit I can have an addictive personality, and I'm trying to not go down that road! I have a ridiculous number of beanie babies from a collecting frenzy many, many years ago. While the coins would take up considerably less space, financially it is just not possible. I'm also not sure I could release any of the beautiful coins I have seen pictures of or been fortunate to spot in a cache. There are some brave cachers to release these guys "into the wild!" However, I did release my first travelbug this week. So exciting!! Can't wait to release a few more and watch their journeys. keewee--as a side note, I LOVE Stampin' UP! I've toyed with the idea of becoming a demonstrator, just not a good time right now with the economy. I went to a workshop just last week and placed an order for the sale-a-bration free sets! I make all my own cards and try to not just 'collect' supplies!! Would love to meet some of you on the trails, LayDBugz
  18. Thanks for the original post & great responses! I had the same problem and wasn't sure how to fix it! Guess that is one of the downfalls of logging from my iPhone. I'm now showing the correct number of finds! Yippee...
  19. I'm a newbie...but I will add my 2 cents! I think coins that celebrate an occasion or an event. For example, I would love a Happy Birthday or Mother's Day coin. Also, GeoAnniversary coins! I would look to buy something along those lines that had great colors/design. I've only purchased one coin (ok 3 coins, but all the same coin!), so I'm sure others that have been around for awhile will chime in.
  20. Love a mystery, so I did a little hunting. Looks to be in the vicinity of GC1XWGG. I'm pretty new here, but I couldn't see any active caches in the area that would fit the description of an ammo box. Anyone else have any luck??
  21. Okay...I'm finally gonna step out of 'lurking' mode and post on a topic. Found my 1st Travel Bug today (in my 3rd cache---yeah, I'm a rookie!) So, my question for those of you who are watching your bugs move about...I will be out finding caches this weekend (hopefully!) and could move this bug to one of those (in Washington state where this guy has been for awhile) or in 3 weeks, I will be on vacation in Utah, and looking for caches there I could place him in. If I owned this bug, I would want it moved out-of-state. Take the little fella on an adventure! What do you all think? Should I email the owner to hold for 3 weeks, place in state this weekend, or just hold on to it and move it in 3 weeks? I want to do the right thing!
