  1. Brilliant "Loonwatcher" a very quick reply to my question and it worked. I got a "send to iGeoKnife" option. Your advice is very much appreciated. Regards SaintSteven (Mike)
  2. I am relatively new to Geocaching and use the iPhone app. "Geocaching". One problem is that I have to be connected to the internet to get access. I saw an app called iGeoKnife which says that it can import databases which can then be used when offline. However I'm having problems. I have sent a support request to the software supplier but haven't received a reply. I've also searched the internet and haven't solved my problem so, here it is: How do I import a Geocaching database into the iPhone app **iGeoKnife** please? I've purchased the app, and have a Mac. The very brief instructions on the app say "Add your GSAK databases (sqlite.db3)". That might as well be Martian language to me, a relative beginner to Geocaching. Other instructions say" To find your GSAK databases: Open GSAK, Go to Tools menu, etc…. However when I go to GSAK, and pay $30 for it, I find that there is mot a Mac version. There is a link to iGeoKnife support but it only leads to an advert for other software provided by the company. Can someone please, in very simple, step-by-step terms explain how I can import data into iGeoKnife Thank you
  3. Yes - you can toggle it back and forth with a simple edit. Thank you for your rapid answer StarBrand.
  4. A supplementary question if I may: is it possible make a Premium cache a non- premium one? This assumes that I am the person who placed the cache. Thank you in advance.
  5. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and replied. Much appreciated.
  6. It may be obvious and also have been covered elsewhere. As a newbie I can't seem to find what I want which is: What are the advantages of making a cache available only to Premium Members? Any help would be appreciated.
  7. What items should I include in a traditional cache, particularly for children to find and enjoy? Thank you.
  8. Many thanks Motorcycle_Mama. That was most informative.
  9. Thank you for that but it's too large. My artificial Geocache stone has a nano cache. I presume that is much, much smaller.
  10. I have purchased a Geocaching Stone Container. It looks like a medium sized stone and it holds a nano cache log. Do I have to include contact details, cache number, instructions if found by a muggle etc? If so how do I do those things? I am new to this so any help will be much appreciated.
  11. Thank you Doug. Your comments are much appreciated. Mike
  12. Thank you Lovejoy for your very rapid and invaluable reply. I can't imagine why I didn't see the "Edit" option. It must be an "age" thing. Regards Mike
  13. I recently placed my first cache and it has been reviewed and listed. There are a couple of typographical errors in the description. How can I edit the description please? Thank you in advance
  14. Thank you Prime Suspect. However I'll have to discover how to add an attribute.
  15. Thank you for that information. It was most useful.
  16. Hi. I'm a newbie and would like to know if it is acceptable to place a cache where it is only accessible during daytime only. The place I have in mind is a public park which has gates which are closed at early evening time, ie when it gets dark. Any help will be appreciated as this is my first attempt at placing a cache.
  17. Great, Thank you MrsB. That is most helpful. (and you were very quick to reply, it was much appreciated.
  18. Thank you for that useful information.
  19. I'm a newbie so please forgive if this is a basic question. I found my first cache and took some photos of the area surrounding it, NOT the actual site. Can I post the photos somewhere and if so where?
  20. The photo To explain, I am completely new to Geocaching, it was my first day. I don't know what the conventions are and maybe photos that seem irrelvant to me are OK. Initially I couldn't find the cache. I looked at all the clues and was left with the photo as my remaning source of clues. It showed a model car on a table or next to a road. There was a table which it turned out was about 50 feet away from the cache. I spent some considerable time around that area. As it could have shown a road, I then went to the nearby road, which is very busy. I spent even more time walking up and down that. I then gave up and was on the point of giving up Geocaching. My wife then joined me and we had another attempt, with a fresh pair of eyes and found the cache. I'd just like to say that the photo seemed to me to be a major clue, it wasn't and almost made me discontinue Geocaching. If it is a convention that such photos are allowed, it should be made plain to newbies that they can be irrelevant. Sorry to appear critical, but I thought my opinions as a newcomer might be useful to other newcomers.
  21. Today was my very first experience of Geocaching. Before today I had never even heard of the subject. I have an iPhone 3G S and saw the Greocaching app. I download the free version, tried it indoors and saw great possibilities for me. I'm a 67 year old retired Medical Scientist. I searched for a Geocache and found that the nearest one was near to a walk that I do regularly. I then decided to purchase the paid-for iPhone app. My first attempt was a failure but I didn't know what I was looking for. A photo accompanied the information about the cache site and nothing around the area matched the image. Not to be deterred, I returned with my wife and we were absolutely thrilled when we discovered the cache. Another surprise for us later was an email from the owner of the cache. It welcomed me to Geocaching and gave me very useful information. Thank you seacarrot12. I can't wait for tomorrow and more Geocaching.
