  1. I haven't been able to access benchmarks.scaredycatfilms.com all day. Has anyone seen any thing about being down for maintenance?
  2. The other day I was doing research on benchmarks in the vicinity of Ft Morgan located on the tip of Mobile Point. This area is directly south of Mobile Alabama. One of the benchmarks show to be at Ft Morgan is DH2492, Wornock 1878, that is listed as a chiseled cross. This got me interested so I opened the file. When I opened the file I noticed the location was listed as Blount Co, AL. Needless to say, Blount County is located in north central Alabama and Ft Morgan is in Baldwin County. Then I did a search in Blount County, Alabama and came up with DH2765, Wornock Reset, with no mention of Wornock 1878. The Wornock Reset datasheet does not mention the four other reference marks and azimuth mark but is listed as a triangulation station. Without the information from DH2492, Wormock 1878, the other Wornock markers would not be locatable. My question is how do I go about submitting paperwork to straighten this out or is it worth bothering with? Only survey crews have recovered these markers. Thank you, Bear
  3. For anyone interested in Old Route 66 alignments, this site may be of interest. Unfortunately this article only covers Route 66 from Kansas to Texas. After finding this site I will be out looking for more "finds" along the way. So far I have photographed a few of the mentioned sites and this was before I read the article. http://www.okhistory.org/shpo/thematic/rt66roadbed.pdf Good luck in your finds, bearbrew
  4. The section of old Hwy 66 west of Sapulpa, Ok. was known as The Ozark Trail before the name was changed to Hwy 66. There is an old RR trestle crossing the old highway with marker #FJ0012 on top of the west headwall, north side of the tracks. The marker is dated 1934. If you are traveling old Hwy 66 in this area you can take a short break and photograph another piece of American history.
