  1. I did some caching last nite and 2 of the caches had wet logs ,more than damp they were soggy. when I logged the finds I let the CO know that the logs needed replacing. Today He disabled 5 of his caches saying he did not have the time to either check the Caches each tine they were logged DNF or needed replacement logs. he also said that cachers used to replace full or damaged logs. is there any proticol for this ?
  2. Maybe not but the geocaching community, in general, might be. Please add to your cache pages that they aren't designed for tourists. Perhaps that will save some poor geotourist from wasting their time looking for your rock pile cache (that has a cryptic hint that only locals will understand). i did not say all are not placed for the travelling masses just some. With paperless geocaching and using some of the new GPSr's many people are just turning them on and Caching, my 7 year lod has an geomate jr which does just that, finds the nearist cache when it is turned on i can do that with my explorist gc. I have gone caching in places that i would never have imagined ,barren and not so imaginative had many DNF's and still had fun.
  3. This is an Historic mining town celebrating 100 years of gold finds in the area so what does not turn your crank may well for others living in this area .Rocky areas abound and are utilized by cachers here and i see you still are a premium member after asking why you should be one after your membership expired. as for making a stink it was not over the cache but over what i considered attitude But now that I have been enlightend by you Forum dwellers i now know that form letters are used .Holy anal retention Batman First off, rock hides in rock piles are unimaginative and otherwise lame. So I don't care why you are hiding the cache where you are if it's just going to be a lame rock in a rock pile. Second. If you aren't going to give a hint, don't put anything in the hint field. Hints are for people who want their caches to be found. It would appear that you just want to taunt people. Third. If there's a reason for why your cache is where it is, say so on the cache page. If there's no real reason other than to receive an occasional email saying someone did or didn't find your cache, leave your cache description as it is. And finally. If I were to go to someplace I thought was cool, I would pass your cache up in a heartbeat because I want to see what is cool and not spend my valuable tourist time searching some lame rock pile. I like Bittsen. The Cache in question was not placed for The travelling masses but for Locals who know the area. The pile of Rocks is actually The Schumacher Lion's Club Mc Intyre Trail which does stradle an abandoned Mining Property and was intended to be part of a series of caches following the trail. I pick and choose those caches i wish to hunt and that is your choice also. Your cool can be different from our cool. As another poster noted and i admit to being guilty off was letting the curt tone of the review of the original cache get to me, communication is indeed a two way street. I did and still do not like the tone but should have let the reviewer know my concerns I have not had issue with other reviewers and I do understand that they may get frustrated with us NOOBs who cannot read and understand I'm glad im not perfect and i learn from my mistakes. I am Finding caches and I am hiding caches and generally having fun with the other cachers I have met.I will be a better cacher for these exchanges will you be any better for picking apart where i hide my caches and my clues and my descriptions and if my clues make no sense?
  4. We'll miss you. Really we will. BTW, you weren't chasened, or even chastened. We just told you that we didn't think the Reviewer's comments contained 'attitude'. But you need to defend me "Staunch Defender of Everything Lame " see i have a sense of humour
  5. I now consider myself chasened and will go gentle into that good night Hello Lurker land
  6. I don't think anything we say will make a difference. I just looked and the latest cache appears to be a rock in a rock pile and the hint is a non hint. Oh well, I don't worry too much. I won't be caching in that area any time soon. This is an Historic mining town celebrating 100 years of gold finds in the area so what does not turn your crank may well for others living in this area .Rocky areas abound and are utilized by cachers here and i see you still are a premium member after asking why you should be one after your membership expired. as for making a stink it was not over the cache but over what i considered attitude But now that I have been enlightend by you Forum dwellers i now know that form letters are used .Holy anal retention Batman
  7. well it seems that I have stirred up a bit of a tempest Thats good because we all learn new things. I can see why some remain lurkers. I did admit that i did not know that a disable does not take the cache out of play. As for the volunteer thread I volunteer at a special needs school every weekday morning after i finish Night shift for an hour I do this because I like the work i do and get satisfaction from it and do not get paid.As a vollunteer you take new not so new and experienced. I did not diss both rewiewers One was great and the second well i did not like the tone but thats me and i did learn my mistake after one of you on the forum corrected me
  8. Hello fellow geocacher, as one of the volunteer reviewers my role is to help you through the rest of the review process to get your new listing published on the geocaching website. During the review of your new listing it was noted that there are no descriptions. Is this listing finished? The best method to address the above is to either correct it or outline your response in a Reviewer Note. Once resolved, please click the word "Enable" on your cache page. This can be found under the banner of NAVIGATION in the far right column. This action will allow us to see your geocache listing for further review. Good review helpful gives direction This is reviewer Cache drone You have read and agreed to the guidelines of maintaining your listings and meeting the 161m proximity. This cache is disabled until the guideline is meet if you enable it again, it will be archived. Not so great . Reviewer is Cacheviewer No mention of how i keep going wrong and how to correct it. Surprisingly The first review of the conflict was professional and helpful by the same reviewer
  9. again thats all the explanation I would have needed ,archive the original not disable it as i did not understand that disables were still active. work with me don't threaten to archive both. we don't hide you don't get to seek.
  10. and See I need typing lessons today too
  11. see my question was answered here in the forum I needed to archive it my self not just disable it whould that have been so hard.
  12. Paying a premium helps to make the site better so no on the special treatment,But being a volunteer does not mean your special either just not paid. I plan on being more of a cache placer than a seeker and so as i get better at the hides I hope to be less of a pain in the reviewers asses and i do understand that they see the same mistakes over and over. we all are needed to make the community work and we need to respecth each other.
  13. I placed a new cache near one that I forgot to disable because of work that will be going on in the general area over the summer. When I placed the second cache the co-ords were off and it was over the 582 feet rule and so it was approved. when i updated the coords it showed to close to the original, and i was called on it so fine. I disabled the original and re enabled the new one thinking this was good and no conflict. Then i get a review back sayiing I am not adhereing to the terms and guidlines and both will be archived if i dont move the new one. I posted a note on the original saying that i have it and that it was disabled so I figured the new one was good to go. again with the threat How do I get rid of the first one as i will morethan likely not be able to use the cache site after the work is done.
  14. Hi I am a newnie Premium member.
