there is NO curse. really. that said, i had to bid. baaaaaaaad lara. this is about when i start to wish i was rich. or at least moderately well off. or was not STILL having car troubles that seem to be sucking my funds down the drain. but - i still had to bid on one. food or tranquility. one can always stand to lose a few extra pounds - and we aren't talking money. Hi famjun, Unfortunately what you did by posting about that other source for the Tranqulity geocoins is hijack mysterycoins thread, which is considered to be a big no no (and may even be against the posting rules for the Groundspeak forums). Sounds like you didn't intentionally hijack, but for future reference it is not the thing to do. I'm taking this off topic for a moment (sorry mysterycoins), but might be useful to famjun so he can understand... When geocoins first come out, many people buy 2,3,5, 10 or more of the great ones. Sometimes it is people foresee them as a good item for trading (in the hope people will desire that coins, so they will be able to use them to trade for other geocoins they seek), and others buy them to re-sell as they see a an item that will easily resell about the original purchase price. mysterycoins only has only a few spares, thus suggesting he might have bought a couple of each when they came out and is now recapitalising them - something he is entitled to do. Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you are implying with that comment. I have a limited but select number of geocoins, many collectors trade/buy duplicates, especially the more desirable or older coins. G***********s? Pretty ridiculous price tags if you ask me.

Look on the bright side Mekle, you may be lucky enough to get one for free before then. Oh, that would be luck! But I've never been one to depend on it either, I prefer to plan for all contingencies. As such, I will continue to hope for other ebay opportunities down the road (along with hoping for a suprise arrival). I really didn't mean to come across as so down about it, I've been meaning to say how much I liked this coin for days, and was suprised (pleasantly) to see it on ebay again. Unorthodox for a mystery geocoin to make an appearance over at the eplace? Maybe, but it may benefit many others here eventually, perhaps even yourself Mekle.

Well yanagi, there will be more happening within this thread in the near future. When the time comes to release a few more mystery coins I'll be searching through posts (old & new) by those people who have expressed interest (and have not received a coin). The selection process is completely random, so good luck when the time comes around again. - MC

It's such a beautiful coin It arrived the day before Xmas and I feel verry happy to have been able to add this coin to my collection. I activated the coin, so it can be discoverd. Do you propose a return to currency made out of precious metals? e.g. where a dollar is made out of a dollar's worth of silver? I wish this was in use again, but there is a small problem... silver is high and might go higher in the near future! right now, 1 troy once (31.1 grams) has a value of a little more than 29 USA$. that means.... that if they have to make a silver dollar in silver in the value of the metal... the dollar will be only a little more than 1 gram!!! Of course they can mix the silver with other metals, like copper, but to make a nice size of the coin... the coin will not be silver anymore but billon (silver content less than 50%) so... On the other hand... many collectors are still searching in USA for silver coins in circulation (yes, there are still in use but not so often anymore), and keep them! So... they will keep these silver coins and the State will lose money! if the silver goes higher the State will lose money again, so... Here in Greece, in 1960, we had the 20 drachma coins made out of silver! almost all were keeping these coins for its silver, so... the goverment lose money, and the coins never went high in the numismatic market! I know (and I am trying to find them...) that Mexico has bimetal coins in circulation that the inner circle is made of silver!!! Mexico is the only country that still uses silver in its currency! There are some (not all!) of the 10Pesos (I think with the date 1992), the 50 pesos and the 100 pesos but the silver content has lower value than the face value of the coin... So... how about a 5 or 10$ in USA made out of silver? I would love to see the NWO geocoin in sterling (925) silver! Of course, it will be impossible to buy any, and impossible to make them because they are huge and heavy!! There is a possibility that each coin will have silver in the value of 60$!!! I wasn't proposing a whole change in the composition of the coins... I was proposing going back to when the american dollar (or greenback back then) was backed by a silver or gold standard.... which is held in a top security vault (Ft. Knox). Instead, we are using currency which is backed by debt. Oh!!! the silver certificates!!! the last one was from the series 1957B if I remember well! Nice ides but I do not know if this can be done now... In hard times maybe people would start changing them into silver so they will not lose their money and by that.. USA treasury will collapse! I am saying that because with the situation here in Greece... there are so many that started collecting or buying gold sovereigns to secure their money....
