  1. Did you ever notice while in a grocery store that people are so intent on their "finds" that they ignore all others? Their focus becomes laser-beamed into their own hunt for food, and they disregard all other social etiquette? Same principal applies here. I am guilty of this as well, wanting to rely on my GC instinct rather than information. Info is secondary, so make your hides a little harder to force people to disseminate the information a little more acutely.
  2. Can't find an official glossary describing different types of geocaches, for instance: how do you describe a cache suspended (i.e. inside a pipe) from a wire, or string. Or a fake rock, or a false electrical box component? Is there a consensus or standard covering these variations?
  3. Read owners log. All are from Belgium, and Texas. read it in your own way.
  4. It wouldn't have been approved like that, so obviously it was changed after itnwas published. So what was it that got you calling 911? The only reason I could think of calling 911 on a cache is because it looks like a bomb. And since you know it's not, you could be held responsible (because you said it was) And what's song with placing cache every 1/10 of a mile? Lots of people do it, and lots look for those type. Just because you don't like it..... So either speak up about it or m it really wasn't that bad. \ I wish i could send you out to be FTF. I would not go there after dark.
  5. OK, calling it a wrap. Just wanted it on file that if anything happened/happens in Lake worth, TX tonight, I am on record that I tried to intercede.
  6. This cache is inviting FTF cachers out into the woods to find a cache that the CO's forgot to bring with them, In the night time, on a desolate road, where they have to cross a barrier on foot, and walk away from the woods. But the CO can't speak english, and the park is closed after 10:00. I Know this area, and it is filled with druggies an scumbags. I would NEVER attempt a cache in this area in the dark....nor even the daytime. I wish I lived in the Liberal world, where nothing happens to innocent people.
  7. Where is this GCers bible, that I might glean from it all of Cachers bounties?
  8. I am from here. This is a desolate area, aside from rv parks, where people don't move around at all during the night. This is a road that nobody drives on at night. This scared me. read it, and research it. it doesn't look Kosher.
  9. Yeah, that's it! Drunk illegal aliens are putting out Phantom caches. Either that, or Criminals are trying to catch GC'ers out in the woods.
  10. Read this listing, then tell me what you think
  11. Never saw a post like this EVER. GC6F514 Got a New cache alert and found this. Called 911 and they blew me off. Hope no-one chases it tonight. If you look at the owner's log they post every cache exactly 1/10 of a mile apart. this disturbs me. Just read the listing. It is disturbing.
  12. I was bored... and no-one answered the question in the other thread. Armchair Caching was the answer I was looking for.
  13. The term commonly used for Gawkers is Muggles. My question is, What is (or would be) the correct term for Cachers that post unfound caches as found? I think Gawkers or Posers is appropriate, but is there an official name?
  14. I once recently logged a smiley when I found the remnants of a storm destroyed cache, but I DID find it. It was not repairable, so I logged a smiley, and posted a Maintenance log. This is a gray area for me....
  15. I did, but it did not immediately flag the reviewer because some had posted Fount it when they had not. I didn't post a needs archived log, just a needs maintenance log. like all of Geocaching, I am still learning.
  16. All my caches are premium now. My only muggled caches were public. Think Obama Phones.
  17. I followed a cache on my watchlist, and in the midst of dozens of DNF's someone posted a Found. I know that their log on this is fraudulent, but it displaced all the posted maintenance logs and DNF's as far as disabling/archiving is concerned. 1. Is there a name for people that log caches illegitimately, and 2. Can we legally shoot them?
  18. Nerds get riled up really easy, huh? I found the volume descriptions very helpful actually. and I agree that a better portrayal of cache size by volume would help far more than my proposal. I just hate chasing down a Small only to find that it should have been classified as a micro. I hate micros unless there is something historically or educationally significant about them. The "Joe Was Here" skirt lifters, or the "in memory of my dog" key mags only piss me off, but I hate to filter them, because occasionally some are placed for a reason.
  19. Well, you added nothing to the thread. I laid it out from 1 (nano) to 10 (5 gallon bucket). Nano is smaller than a micro, micro is smaller than a Bison. Bison is smaller than a Key Mag, Key mag is smaller than an RX or altoid. all these are smaller than a "small". & Medium should begin with Large enough to put stuff in.
  20. Placing a Geocache is a science I have learned, Based upon trial and error, but also upon observance of which caches have endured for years, and which have disappeared. I rarely place a micro because I like caches that are bit enough to hold SOMETHING, unless it is of historical significance, and there is no other option. My first cache was muggled repeatedly due to my engineering flaws... My second cache was destroyed when a fracking rig appeared directly on top of it. My third cache was lost in the summer growth. I have another hundred found caches since then, and I haven't lost another since. I now think like a muggle, and work to make the find harder.
  21. Geocaching has come a long way since its origin. You no longer need an expensive GPSR unit, you don't need a wall full of Topo maps, or a big bank account and an off-road vehicle. About the only thing that Hasn't evolved is the way GC cache sizes are described. Nowadays we have Nano's, Micros, Bisons, Altoids, RX's, Peanut butter jars, Tupperware, Butter dishes, Ammo Cans, And 5 Gal Buckets, Etc. I think it is time to redo the GC size descriptions on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being Nano, and 10 being a great big bucket.
  22. It is a very good spot, and that's what I've decided to do. I dug a little deeper and the owner had 0 finds and 1 hide, and hasn't logged on since they placed the cache, so I posted an archive request, and will take over that area when it is done. Thanks for all the help
