  1. Can you PLEASE give me that PDF file. I have had a few situations where people ask what I am doing and trying to explain it is hard to do... I've had a police officer write down my license plate once because I looked suspicious. PLEASE! I would LOVE to print a few of them out...
  2. I made my only cache premium member because I don't want it to go missing. It cost money/time to make a geocache and to have it go missing from a careless geocacher isn't something i want to happen.
  3. I got it! I figured out my first mystery cache. Thanks! Now I gota go out and get it... Tommorrow when It's not 9 PM at night...
  4. Did you read the hint? Yes, I used to to figure out how to decode... I used this website http://www.zompist.com/numbers.htm to find all the numbers that are listed. When the number wasn't on the list I added a zero. The problem is, there are more zeros than the coordinates are supposed to have. 040008025000740580064 is a lot like the wrong coords which are N 40° 08.000 W 074° 58.000. I tried making the coords N 40° 08.025 W 074° 58.064 but that was wrong according to the checker...
  5. Okay, I spent about an hour solving this thing... I found every number listed. I put in 0 for each number that doesn't exist. I came out with 040008025000740580064 how would I translate the numbers I got into coords? You can see the original cache here http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...49-d70f41bc3706. I'm confused and this is my first puzzle. Help?
  6. I love all the swag. The things inside ammo cans are SOO valuable. Especially mctoys. I have to spend at least 10 minutes playing with each mctoy before I can go. No seriously, I have fun finding the cache not really with the useless swag...
  7. Well, all you really can do is replace it. If your absolutely certain it was a geocacher that did it and not some teenage boy that was like, "Wow, there's a bunch of junk in this box, let me destroy it LOLOLOLOL." Then I would make it a premium member's only cache. You'd limit the amount of people finding it, but, i doubt a premium member would ruin a geocache.
  8. I don't understand what the difference between the two are. The only difference between a virtual an an earth cache is a logging requirement. Basically, it takes two things against that aren't allowed put them together and it is allowed? Why is this?
  9. Oh, this reminds me of the oh so ironic story. Basically, someone put a cache in the woods. He named it be careful due to the amount stickerbushes in the area... Well, 2 years later, three people complained about Bees in the area. Get it? BEE careful... It's funny because it was unintentional.
  10. Thank you! I would have never thought of that. Now all I gotta do is wait for it to be published.
  11. No offence, but are you sure you are ready to place a geocache, if you don't know the hemisphere you are living in? Why don't you set up your GPSr in a way that it displays the common format for geocaching, which is degrees decimal minutes? GermanSailor Well, does it automatically convert it for people? If not does that mean less people will go find it?
  12. Worked fine, I submitted it and it is exactly where I placed it. I'm just putting in the coordinates for the best place to park.
  13. The 40 should be North and the -74 should be west. You are in decimal instead of mm.mmm Is that bad? are they more or less accurate? BTW, thanks i'm submitting it now! EDIT: Oh, and should I put -70 in for west, or keep it positive beause you know it is west because of the negative?
  14. Okay, I just placed my cache. After I finished placing it I got the coordinates. They were accurate to 3 meters. The problem I have is that I don't know which one is west/east and which is north/south. I put them in google and it was exactly where it was. The coordinates are 40.11348 ,-74.91731. Even if I know which one is supposed to be west/east/ and which is supposed to be north/south how would I know if it was north or south? I'm confused can someone tell me exactly how to fill it in?
  15. From the guidelines: I would say -although English is not my first language- that this is equivalent to: Geocaches can not be logged online as Found unless the physical log has been signed. What about if I find a geocache and the log is soaked? That has happened to me before...
  16. That's good! I couldn't help but think you guys were mad at me for some reason. I'm actually in the suburbs of Philly. I live about a 5 - 10 minute drive away from officially being Philadelphia depending on traffic. So geocaches in my area aren't an issue. They are everywhere. that being said you are lucky you can go on business trips; vacations are my only option.
  17. A lot of negative animosity towards me. Sure I haven't found over 1,000 cache's but I don't need to find 100 lamp post caches to know they are getting tiring. Although, I like micro's. I've seen a few cleverly hidden micro's that brought me to great destinations. I found one to a forgotten cemetery in my area I never knew about it. I found a small waterfall in my area, along with a great fishing spot there. I've found a beautiful beach like view, hidden in a park that I've been to so many times without realizing (To be fair I didn't find that one). I don't want to filter all those amazing caches because people want to hide them in lamp post. A simple solution is to find somewhere else to hide the,. It's understandable to want to hide one in a parking lot, but there are plenty more areas in the parking lots to hide them. That being said, I'm not going to go out now just for micros. I'm going to go for a larger one, and pick up micros along the route. Out of curiosity, how do you guys find so many? Do you travel a lot? I can't imagine ever getting much past 1,000. 1,000 is basically my limit, after the closest 1,000 near me then the drive time will be over 1 hour. Still, 1,000 is quite a few to find! BTW, I may have not been geocaching for years, but I have been letter boxing for a while. I found everyone in my area and whenever I traveled anywhere I made sure to search for letterboxes in that area I.E. going to the beach or going to New York. My friend introduced me to letterboxing, and I read something about geocaching online and I always wanted to do geocaching. The only problem is I just recently got a GPS, my first move was to start geocaching and to fall in love much the same way as letterboxing, I love this sport even more! There are very FEW letterboxes compared to geocaching.
  18. UUGH, they are not all predicable. Easy for you to say all the cache's near you are creative you live all the way in Pittsburgh. I'm stuck here in Philly.
  19. I use [reference to unauthorized application removed by moderator] for searching for nearby cache's and GCdroid for Pocket Queries.
  20. Most cache's that are in the woods aren't in lamp post. But, when they are in parking lots they usually are. I'll generally just go for the closest cache without bothering about where they are hidden. I've seen a few well hidden ones in parking lots and I won't give them up just because most are in lamp post. My real question is: why not pick another spot, there are plenty of creative spots in a parking lot. For example one of the four I found was in a parking lot and it was really creative. It was hidden on a piece of art made from old tubing. It was actually in an industrial company building parking lot, but there was no way to tell from the GPS. I wish there was a way to filter Lamp Post cache's without filtering the more creative micros...
  21. I realize they are against the guidelines, but I would LOVE to find a cache like them. They are so creative! I don't see 2 and 3 as bad. 1 because of vandalism and 4 because of the live tree. But 2 is hidden in an already dug pipe, and 3 is in a dead tree.
  22. The amount of Caches hidden in lamp post are ridiculous. The first one was creative, the second one was meh. I keep seeing more and more. I found 4 caches today and HALF were hidden in lamp post. I personally think the whole fun is finding the Cache, if it's going to be in a lamp post every time you aren't really "finding" it. It's more like walking up to it. I could understand one or two in my area, but why can't people be more creative? Oh, and the worst part is I seen an ingenious mystery cache, and after solving the puzzle it was hidden in a lamp post...
  23. I have only found one pill bottle so far. It was hidden in a lamp post... How original. Anyway, it was completely dry on the inside and had a few tradeable items, a mini flashlight and a toothpick.
